usually followed by some snide remark about using search (which is useless)
I can't speak for anyone else but whenever I point to another thread, or quote myself because I already answered it before, that link or quote comes straight from "advanced search".

If I can find the link or the quote in search, so could the OP, and in far less time than it would take them to type their post to begin with. They wouldn't have to wait for an answer either, it would be right there.

---

One point that doesn't seem to be addressed about directing people to the proper forum: there are a whole lot of people who stick to a sub-category they're interested in and never bother with RA and they're usually the people you'd want an answer from because they're well-informed or knowledgable about that specfic sub-category.

And posting in the proper forum also means that those people who do actually bother to use search can benefit from the proposed solution. If a building question is answered in RA, you loose that answer when you search and restrict only to the building forum to get better results.

Choose your own witty reply:

A) How will you bake your pies then?

B) Then what will I do with my cigar?

C) Well you certainly burned up a certain third party forum thread with your hotness yesterday.

D) Try striking it against something hard.

Tell me more about this "search" thingy that you are speaking of.

And while you are at it, please tell me the difference between mainland and estates, where to find first land, how your sales are doing and if SL relationships are cheating.

My derail casts no judgement on your OP. I'm just working out my comedy bits for when the writer's strike ends. :)

Probably sarcastic, but since people seem to have trouble :p.

Advanced Search: /invalid_link.html

Pick the forum you want to restrict the search to (or Ctrl-click to select multiple), then set "Show Results as" to "Posts" to see a portion of each result which helps to decide whether a thread has the answer or just happens to have the words you searched for in it randomly.

Writers strike! pfffft

Surely the point of a strike is to gain public sympathy inorder to apply pressure on an employer to cave into a union's demands. I can see why train drivers, nurses and teachers can get away with it - people who provide a public service are inevitably going to get sympathy - but Hollywood writers? Is there any profession that the pubic care less about?

In honor of all the Cat girls who warm our hearts and excite our imaginations.

SEOUL (AFP) — South Korean scientists have cloned cats by manipulating a fluorescent protein gene, a procedure which could help develop treatments for human genetic diseases, officials said Wednesday.

In a side-effect, the cloned cats glow in the dark when exposed to ultraviolet beams.

Yes, there are several mods. The others keep largely to themselves though and stay out of mischief.

Im expecting the good old 'op is a flamer' comment any time soon.
Maybe I'm naive, but no, I think you're sincere. And I'd even go so far as to guess that you're trying to improve things here. But:
From: someone
Thats one Ive had pulled on me a couple of times :D
When I first posted on Resident Answers, I adopted a tone that fit that of the most "popular" threads: kinda snide, kinda combative, pretty negative. It seemed like just how things got said around here.

This did a fine job of getting replies. But it was breathtakingly ineffective at getting my point across. Then I remembered the first rule of PR-speak: "Communication has nothing to do with expressing what you mean, and everything to do with getting the audience to do what you want." (Now I'm on a self-administered 12-step Program to Positive Posting. Every day, in every way, etc.)

So I guess, to paraphrase Nika, "Prozac is your friend."
