Have you got the Restrained Life Viewer option turned on in Edit-Preferences-Cool Features? The RLV removes the option of choosing log-in location.

yes, turned off now, tyvm. what is the function of that RLV option? could it give more performance if turned on or off? or what else?

The RLV option activates the Restrained Life features described in the file RestrainedLifeReadme.txt that you will find in the main Cool Viewer folder. As that document puts, it "This custom viewer is aimed at BDSM fans in SL who wish to enhance their experience by letting other people (such as their owners) take control of some of their abilities. In order to use its features, the Dom/me has to operate items (typically restraints) that the sub wears, but only the sub needs to use this viewer in that situation."

The point of the options' removing the choice of login location is to stop me from escaping from a cage, for example, by simply logging out and then back in somewhere else. Since the viewer, when I'm logged out, has no way of knowing what my circumstances were immediately before I logged out, that option is always disabled when the RLV is turned on. It's a nuisance at times, certainly, but one that's easily avoided unless you're into BDSM games.

Because of a vulnerability in all existing viewers (see http://status.secondlifegrid.net/2008/09/26/post256/ for details), here are three new releases, available for Linux from http://sldev.free.fr/

Cool SL Viewer v1.19.0.5 release 29
Cool SL Viewer v1.20.16.0 release 1
Cool SL Viewer v1.21.3.0 release 1

They all (yes, 1.19.0.5 included) plug that vulnerability.

Because of a vulnerability in all existing viewers (see http://status.secondlifegrid.net/2008/10/06/post275/ for details), here are two new releases, available for Linux from http://sldev.free.fr/

Cool SL Viewer v1.19.0.5 release 31

They both (yes, 1.19.0.5 included) plug that vulnerability.

For the experimental, v1.21 branch, I will wait for LL to publish the v1.21.5RC sources before updating it.

After some bug hunting headache and completely misleading error messages I'm happy to announce that we finally have a Mono capable, non-Windlight viewer for Windows :). 1.19.0.5 in release 35 (!) is up for grabs. Thats the absolutely fastest viewer you can get these days. Enjoy!

(P.S. Henri, I'm in a lil bit of trouble right now, can't IM nor open your notecards :). 1st life helps :) )

Two new releases:

Cool SL Viewer v1.19.0.5 release 36

They implement a new patch dealing with shortcut keys (CTRL ALT Fn replaced with CTRL SHIFT Fn as the former combination is used to switch between consoles under Linux), and RestrainedLife v1.14a (with a crash bug fix for v1.21.6.0).
