I may have misunderstood, but CTRL A (or Edit-Select All) works well for me when I want to highlight the entire contents of a file...

OK, so one less manual thing in a long line of manual things.

My point still stands, support for saving and loading directly is going to be a lot simpler than cutting and pasting. So it is not a "useless feature".

I find it pretty useless.

Besides that, if you do a lot of scripting you may have a look at the patch and rewrite it properly? :). It's a taking and giving here.

Ah if only I had time to spare. Then maybe I'd have some time to properly backup my scripts using the currently laborious copy and paste method. After that I might have some time to rewrite that patch properly.

Just coz you find it pretty useless, does not mean it will be useless to others.

I actually wish that RL would just let me alone and give me more time to go around fixing up all manner of things in open source projects. But we pick those projects we can spend the time on, and we hope that others scratch the itch we don't have time to fix.

I just published a new experimental release (v1.22.3.0 release 1) of the Cool SL Viewer for Linux on http://sldev.free.fr/

Please note that this experimental release is *not* meant for production use given the current very poor state of reliability of the v1.22RC branch: in particular, it got a nasty bug dealing with failure to "pick" (touch with a left or right click of the mouse) attachments crossing the avatar mesh (attachments close to the chest, the crotch or the butt are affected).

And yet three more releases for Linux (available from http://sldev.free.fr/):

Cool SL Viewer v1.19.0.5 release 41
Cool SL Viewer v1.21.6.0 release 9
Cool SL Viewer v1.22.3.0 release 2

They implement RestrainedLife v1.15c (equivalent to Marine's v1.15.2 but with more bug fixes) and new memory leak and crash bug patches.

I decided to publish all my patches as well as the binary version of my own build of the viewer for Linux...

It's available at: http://sldev.free.fr/

Enjoy !

Running 1.22.3 with CoolViewer diffs like a champ on Fedora 10 x86_64.
Rendering doesn't seem much different, but all of the background stuff seems much smoother... maybe the SSE compile?

It's great!
Bless you for this Henri!

For all CV Windows users: The sound problems of 1.21.6.0 R9 have been fixed. I can't reproduce it, it looks like there's a certain sequence one has to follow when adding libraries before compilation.

It's working now, please download the R9a version from my blog.

Sorry for that.

I just published three new releases for Linux on http://sldev.free.fr/

Cool SL Viewer v1.19.0.5 release 42 (stable, legacy renderer)
Cool SL Viewer v1.21.6.0 release 10 (stable, Windlight renderer)
Cool SL Viewer v1.22.4.0 release 1 (experimental)

They implement an improved RevertUIchanges patch, with a nicer friends list and properly working tooltips for the packets loss and bandwidth indicators (which stopped showing their tooltips in v1.20 and later viewers).

Enjoy ! :)

Windows versions for 1.21.6.0 R10 and 1.19.0.5 R42 have been updated. There will be no "official" Windows Cool Viewer for the RC for the time being.

Enjoy,
Boy :)

Limiting RLV
12-25-2008 12:33
Is there some way to limit restrained life, such as what attachments/clothing can be added, removed or locked?

@Aaron
That's up to the scripts you use in your attachments. The viewer universally supports all attachments that provide these features.

One way to allow access only to a limited amount of wearables would be to put only these inside the #RLV folder and by doing so make them visible to a controlling script (e.g. in a collar). For more details I suggest you have a look at Marine's tutorial.

New Year releases
01-05-2009 06:10
Here are three new releases of the Cool SL Viewer (available now for Linux from http://sldev.free.fr/):

Cool SL Viewer v1.19.0.5 release 43 (stable, legacy renderer)
Cool SL Viewer v1.21.6.0 release 11 (stable, Windlight renderer)
Cool SL Viewer v1.22.4.0 release 2 (experimental, *NOT* for everyday use)

They implement a new "CommonDateAndTimeFormats" patch that is a first step towards the full internationalization of date and time and that makes, at last, the formats coherent throughout all the viewer menus. The corresponding settings have of course been added to the Cool features tab of the Preference floater.

Happy New Year !

And yet three new releases of the Cool SL Viewer (available now for Linux from http://sldev.free.fr/)...

Cool SL Viewer v1.19.0.5 release 44 (stable, legacy renderer)
Cool SL Viewer v1.21.6.0 release 12 (stable, Windlight renderer)
Cool SL Viewer v1.22.5.0 release 1 (experimental)

They implement new patches and crash fixes. One new feature for v1.21 and v1.22 (not needed in v1.19) is the ability to remember the stats floater position and size over sessions.

All three versions also implement and "OOC chat parenthesis auto-close" (can be disabled from the Cool features tab of the Preferences menu). E.g, while role-playing, when you want to speak Out Of Character (OOC), the convention is to enclose your OOC text between double parenthesis, like so ";((phone call, BRB))". This new patch takes care of adding the closing ";))" when they are missing, thus saving you some typing.

Enjoy !

Cool Sl stucks when changing group tag
01-19-2009 23:39
Hi everybody. I experienced, when i wish to change my groups tag, that CoolSL stucks for 2-3 seconds. Seems like it wants to crash but never crashed when doing that. I noticed this stuck in all Cool releases i run, even default or Rc. How could i fix it?

Have a great new year! Peter.

PS: never happened the same running a default/Rc release non Cool.

I change my group tag over 20 times a day, and I never experienced this problem... Please make sure your viewer is properly installed (in particular, the xml files of the official viewer must be overwriten with the ones distributed in the Cool SL Viewer package).

Also, an extract of the log (SecondLife.log) when such a problem happens would help...

Thanks alo!! Any possibility adding this to a repository for Ubuntu users? Or maybe .deb ? Would be a breeze having better installers and/or auto updates....

@Lance

That's not an official CV build but a test version :). Perhaps Henri wants to include it in the future. I'm currently unable to build the latest "official" RC6 for Windows, but there's not much difference to the RC4 of RC6 on my blog.
