I don't know if anyone else has seen this problem, but it appears to be specific to the latest build of Cool SL Viewer:
Go into Edit mode, create a prim, shift+drag a copy, then press CTRL+Z. In Cool, it doesn't do anything since updating to the latest build (SecondLife-i686-1.22.7.108773). In every other viewer version I have installed, it snaps the copy back to the original prim's location. This is essential for certain building styles and also the ability to quickly fix a positioning mistake. Keep up the good work. Edit: Second, I've experienced crashes on the last few builds of the Cool exp viewers when attempting to upload. Once at the preview window for any file type (anim/texture/sound), the viewer disappears abruptly upon hitting upload or cancel. I forgot to mention since I tend to build in the latest exp, then jump in to the unpatched viewer to do my uploads. Drop a line if you are able to reproduce these minor bugs. Thanks! |

I'd not noticed that about the drag copy, but I have just reproduced it with the Cool SL Viewer v1.22.7.0 release 2. There's an easy work-round, though.. just deselect the prim and then reselect it. You should find ctrl-z works when you do that.

I actually deleted my post thinking nobody had seen it yet, it seems the latest LL viewers do the same thing so I was going to repost in a different thread. Thanks, that trick works like a charm! For anyone confused, The work around is in regards to undoing the last position of a prim when in Edit mode. |

Cool SL & the Realm Selection Dropdown
02-06-2009 04:27
I was just wondering how I'd go about configuring the realms that show up in the drop down list with the Cool SL viewer. I've been tinkering with an OpenSim instance on an older box and would like to have it in the list as opposed to a command line argument if possible. Any ideas?

I think that list is hardcoded somewhere.. I tried to find a configuration file for it somewhere for the same reasons, and the only file grep found anything was the binary itself :/

It *may* take the form of an editable XML list in the future. It will depend on how much time I will be able to devote to this. |

You are running the Second Life Viewer on a x86_64 platform. <snip> only way i can get secondlife to start is by replacing the do-not-directly-run-secondlife-bin with the origional. whats going on? There may also be an incompatibility with the libstdc++ library (try removing it from the lib/ sub-directory of the viewer installation), or another, missing or conflicting library: a: LD_LIBRARY_PATH="`pwd`"/lib:"`pwd`"/app_settings/mozilla-runtime-linux-i686:"${LD_LIBRARY_PATH}" ldd bin/do-not-directly-run-secondlife-bin from inside the viewer directory may help finding the culprit (all shown dependencies should point to a 32bits library). |

restrainedlife active breaks http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/LlGetAgentLanguage
02-11-2009 03:09
Henri,
with RLV activated, llGetagentLanguage returns "Restrained Life 1.16.c" or somesuch, instead of a language code or "" as it should... any way to fix that, or should we just notify marine kelly? |

Rlv 1.16
02-11-2009 03:52
Afaik, this behavior is intended by Marine.
But she said on her blog she was open to comments concerning this "feature". I also somewhat agree that llGetAgentLanguage shouldn't be used for this, although I never use this function! Oh, by the way, some minor comments about RLV 1.16: 1 - redirchat does not work if sendchat is set. IMHO redirchat should preclude sendchat (at least it would make scripting easier, not having to check the viewer's version in every ball gag script!) 2 - setdebug_avatarsex has no effect (does not change AvatarSex value in debug settings) 3 - getdebug_avatarsex always triggers "0" (female) for answer (disregarding the current value of AvatarSex) I don't think those issues are specific to RLV 1.16 in Cool Viewer... but as there is no thread for Marine's viewer, that could as well be discussed here! |

well, that RLV "feature" breaks one of the best translator huds that i found so far, since it uses llGetAgentLanguage() to find your own language and the language of the people around you... and if i have to choose i choose talking over RLV.

Note however that your HUD will fail to work in many occasions regardless of whether RestrainedLife is enabled or not, since "old" viewers (v1.20 or older) do not implement llGetAgentLanguage() (which then returns an empty string) and that even in new viewers, the user can choose to disable this function (which then again returns an empty string). Note also that the maker of that HUD should perhaps harden their code (for example, by detecting when llGetAgentLanguage() does not return a valid locale name and then falling back to some default and sane code when it happens). |

Here are three new releases of the Cool SL Viewer (available now for Linux from http://sldev.free.fr/)...
Cool SL Viewer v1.19.0.5 release 47 (stable, legacy renderer) Cool SL Viewer v1.21.6.0 release 15 (stable, Windlight renderer) Cool SL Viewer v1.22.8.0 release 2 (experimental) They fix a (build-related) bug in RestrainedLife (@redirchat & @sendchat conflict), and bring a couple of minor optimizations. Enjoy ! |

This is a valid remark (even though translators are so lame that they are better left unused...). I already warned Marine that this feature would possibly break existing and future scripted items while not bringing any sensible improvement to RestrainedLife item (since these items have to keep a fallback detection code for older RL implementations and v1.20 or older RL-enabled viewers). Please, direct your remark to Marine Kelley (your best bet is to write it down into a note card and send it to her in-world). Note also that the maker of that HUD should perhaps harden their code (for example, by detecting when llGetAgentLanguage() does not return a valid locale name and then falling back to some default and sane code when it happens). the translator i mean has such "fallback" code, it simply asks google language tools which language was spoken. it just takes longer that way. |
