Petition to stop the economic changes

Actually, isn't the 'stipend bonus' being cut in half, the bonus that's reliant on ratings?

The rich get poorer, the poor get.. they stay where they are because they aren't going to waste their meager stipend on this crap, especially since ratings have gone from 'Ooh, bonus' to 'Ooh, moneysink'.

Still, this does make the ratings system completely borked and completely irrelevant, nobody will bother with the ratings system unless they have some contrived reason, like getting their friend high on the leaderboard or being paid to rate or whatever.

Edit: Actually, I'd have to wonder if successful merchants are just going to get more expensive now. If they take part in rating people, their money is now going 1/25th as far as it did before, hence they need to make more money, and if they're throwing 75 L$ away on triple rating people then they're going to find it easier to buy the overpriced crap that they already are. People to whom 25 L$ means something aren't going to waste their money like that.

Though, I can't see high-end designers getting more expensive than they are already. Frankly I can't predict what effect these changes are going to have, though I am certain ratings will be even more meaningless.

Good.. It should begin in 24 hours or less in my book..

Good thing Linden Lab's official position, as per the 1.5 agony that went on, was that no patch would be done without sufficient review time.

From: someone
Your crying about doom and gloom and needing time for the masses to spout their two cents..

(edited)

From: someone

LL has the secret inside numbers that say your wrong and that 48hours is enough to get the word out because they need to act fast....

I suppose you work for LL now? You have the secret numbers? No, you don't.

Now please stop blatantly lying on the boards to forward your own greedy agenda. I'm sick and tired of this.

From: someone
For somebody who champions LL all the time, I'm suprised your not rubber stamping their actions.

We all make mistakes. I'm saying this one is a mistake. I'm not saying LL is bad. I'm just giving my player-perspective feedback for an upcoming patch. Plenty of things seem like great ideas until you present them to the public. This is one of those cases.

I stop, think, and consider things. Most of what LL does is good. Some are mistakes. I use my brain to decided which is which, not blind loyalty or bitterness.

I wouldn't call it greed, I don't see what Alby could gain here. Trollish, possibly. Spouting the word 'hippies' doesn't automatically make you cool, Alby. Maybe it's supposed to sound like you're some intellectual conservative 'badass', just sounds like Cartman to me.

Edit: removed the quote which didn't really have anything to do with what I was saying.

Only if it were false.

I told you to "go to the devil" because I have a low opinion of you. There's nothing inherently wrong with saying this as I haven't used any vulgar language and I haven't personally called you a name.

I called you condescending and arrogant because you have specifically said that the overwhelming majority of SLrs are not intelligent enough to discuss economic issues. If that isn't condescending and arrogant to put yourself over so many of your peers, I don't know what is. If anything, it's pointing out that you are being abusive by putting down peoples' intelligence. In fact, in anotther thread you CALLED YOURSELF condescending, so I'm only using your own label.

I called you a troll because you fit the Linden Lab description of a troll - someone who says things provocatively to elicit a negative response. You admited in another thread about the economy that, when someone pointed out that you were being condescending, that it was "good" because "it got the point across".

That petition doesn't mention it being twenty-five times more expensive to rate people. Personally, I don't give a damn about the two things that petition mentions, they sound like they'd effect all of us equally and not necessarily cause any change in behavior.

Trolling is not what I'm doing. I'm educating you. :) I can't help if you fail to see the wisdom and get all bent out of shape over the matter. I'm feeling nice, calm, and cool, sipping a Mint Julip.

Why doesn't that petition mention the raised cost of rating? It seems a very deliberate omission. I am not signing it, by signing that petition you accept any changes not listed on it.

Edit: Though it did have an interesting signatory. Dunno if it's legit. "14. Philip Linden This Policy will go through regardless of what you sign." Even if I am lumped in with so-called 'hippies' and agree with them, that still makes me giggle. Ultimately LL will do whatever they want with SL.

HOWEVER, I think some folks, a controlling interest you could say at LL are being complete a**holes in other ways, for instanc this 'Featured' thing based on E-bay bidding. These economic changes might be =intended= for the greater good, whereas player bidding is strictly a device to generate profit and give advantage to those able and willing to spend large sums of real-life money on SL.

I think everyone is blowing this whole thing way out of proportion. We've been through something like this 4 other times so far, a major change in the economy that ended up improving some part of SL. People adapt, people change, economies adapt, economies change. Crying wolf about something that probably will end up improving SL only causes you undue stress and probably scares off some new people who think the end of SL is coming. As far as changes go, I don't think the Lindens owe us anytime to disscuss with us about changes THEY are making to THEIR product. Sure, they may have said they will, but that doesn't mean they have to. SL still very much belongs to LL, and it will continue to do that until the masses of SL mature enough to be responsible, and LL feels satisfied that they can give more power to the residents of SL.

(This post is not directed at anyone specific, and the maturity remark is very much a view of SL in my opinion, feel free to have your opinion, but give it in a responsible, nice way please :) ).

Please immediately halt the impending economic changes.

Raised cost of rating seems to fall under "economic changes", doesn't it? I thought that was clear.
