What are the free speech limits on an offensive 9/11 build?

Seems like a lotta folks here have overdosed on a few too many Six Feet Under re-runs. Enough of this subjective/objective relativistic tit-for-tat I'm right/you're wrong but go ahead and speak your mind so that I can twist your words and mock your pain bullshit. Somebody post a poll, already, and let's be done with this. I'll wager that a super-majority agrees that this type of build generally violates the moral sensibilities of "reasonable" persons (a legal standard, btw), not to mention the ToS or CS. Is there a bookie in the house?
Plenty of people are offended by gays, especially in the more "conservative" states. I know a guy who swears that if he ever sees two "f--s" kissing on the street he'll mow them down with his car. Do we get rid of gay bars because he and his bible banger ilk go into conniptions at the sight of them? Minority groups have rights too, you know. People get so fucking wound-up and self-righteous and they think that they have a right to dictate what other people do on their property. Hell, in Texas, a case about two gays getting busted in on by police and punished for having intercourse had to be taken to the supreme court because of this kind of self-righteous nonsense. Fortunately they won, but there are still plenty of people who think they are ubermensch, the chosen ones, who should dictate morality and good taste to the rest of us. There are plenty of people in Texas who feel about gays the way Christiano feels about the towers thing, and even more strongly. There are a lot of them in that state and in others. It shouldn't mean they get to sit on their high horses and dictate their beliefs from on high.

I think what is needed here, in the short term anyway, is a live-and-let-live attitude. Perhaps long-term we can have some kind of parcel flag like I mentioned before.

Oh, and if Americans are twits, then I dare say that all of humanity are twits. We are, after all, the great melting pot of global humanity...
I have travelled to Europe and have good reason to agree with this.

Gays don't become gay for the express purpose of offending other people. The build in question obviously was built for that purpose. Your comparison is specious.

I find the 9-11 tragedy itself funny..? Huh, news to me.

did you not state that you find humor in a picture depicting people leaping to their deaths with the caption "I'm falling for you" to be humorous?

From: Louis Neutra
...and found it hilarious and figured other w-hats would find it entertaining.
am i gonna demand it be taken down? no. not that it matters, it's gonna probably stay, regardless of what i think. in some ways it's better that it stays. not the least of which is negative attention for the folks who find humor in mocking working people plunging toward their deaths. does the fact that i am for letting it stay make my voiced reaction of anything other than abject revulsion, invasive of your rights? no. and i will let you know about it. you know why? because you more than justify it through your own behavior.

you wanna cry freedom of speech? then i will use the same mechanism to critique your idealogy. If you complain, i will assume you are just another person who claims to hate bigots yet is a bigot themself.

This Thanksgiving, I broke up with my girlfriend because I had gotten tired of the suicide
|threats. I had thought it was
Her way of trying to get more attention: she tried to do this in more ways than one in the |past. Cutting her wrists
Isn't anything I would ever imagine her doing, or even thinking about doing, especially |over something so incredibly
Silly.

This evening, I received a phone call from my ex's parents. She killed herself in the |bathtub and left a note about me.
"He never listened..." was a line that hit me especially hard. I could have told her parents |about it, they could have
Reasoned with her, but I was worried she'd be put somewhere she didn't belong for a while |because she wanted some
Extra attention from me. Not once did I weigh a month of psychiatric treatment against |what came from this terrible
Atrocity. What I realised though, after a few minutes of thinking, was I was not crying. I |Did not feel any pain. This
Foesn't even bother me.

I might be in denial, that's a definite possibility. I might still be in denial about my |grandmother's death too, an event
So meaningless to me that I have yet to shed a tear. She died four years ago and I was |extremely close to her.

Another answer to this puzzle is I could be void of any emotional attachment. I began to |search my mind for clues.

Jamming this theory is the fact that I'm not greedy or inconsiderate- I'm extremely giving |and often overly kind to
Others. However, I use these attitudes and this personality to use people, and in the end it |is for personal gain. A
Kind individual would do something for you simply for the joy of pleasing you. All I do is |manipulate, abuse the social
Exchange system by predicting actions based on my own.

Looking at myself in the mirror I see that I am a monster incapable of real human |emotion, a horrible bastard whose
Out ward portrayal of himself isn't real. I'm not fit to live, but I now see others who aren't |fit to live as well. I won't
Lie to you- I'm currently deciding between murder/suicide or just plain suicide.

What should I do, goons? Should I waste myself right here right now and not allow my |emotionless soul, a spiritless
Husk of a body fall to the ground without any waste of time in this pointless world? Should |I instead turn kamikaze
And go out with a bang with a strap on bomb? Maybe instead, I should just get ahold of an |automatic weapon and
Take out as many as I can before I'm taken out myself. Decide for me, I'm not fit to |decide what's best myself.

no, youre right. what's important is that you set up an effigy of her in Second life, and make it look dead. you can have tattoos for blood and slit wrists, and throw some razor blades around. god i love free speech. i feel soooo RIGHT!

that kind of humor helps the healing process.

good luck. :)

I don't like words. I think you're trying to hard. Effigies aren't my style.

yeah, but what is nicer is this hand drawn pic of hiroshima with a caption of an irradiated kid saying "I'd give my hide for you", on the desktop of my PC. whenever i am feeling down, i look at it and it always gives me a giddy, righteous feeling.

that, and the gays in Texas being slaughtered.

Who was paraphrasing the following from Voltaire:

"Not only is it extremely cruel to persecute in this brief life those who do not think the way we do, but I do not know if it might be too presumptuous to declare their eternal damnation."

Thanks, I needed to work the picayune out of my system for today. ;)
