Yeah, we're going to lose a few comrades tonight. But as I say, let's be glad it wasn't much worse. I ride the tube and you can get at least 45 people in one carriage. They could have destroyed six packed carriages on six tubes.
We have had our attack and we dodged a bullet somewhat cause it's not half as bad as it could have been, and our emergency services, when put to the test, performed brilliantly, so they should be honoured for their work today. Thoughts now should focus on the future. Can we do anything differently to make our London safer, and is there anything else we could have been doing today? |

Caitlin Mackenzie is visiting over in London right now. Pray that she's alright.

Does anyone know a british news source online other than BBC? They seem worthless... still reporting "2 dead, many wounded", as far as I can tell. American sources are fine, but I would think I could get more timely updates from a source "on the scene".

What should such fellows as I do crawling between earth and heaven? We are arrant knaves, all; believe none of us.

A few years ago I probably would have said "that sucks" and moved on. After meeting some of you and having seen such atrocities on our own soil, I've been having a tear in my eye all morning. Hoping the best for all of you and my prayers are with you.

I just feel shaken, angry and numb at the same time. Those Londoners are a tough lot, but .... such senseless violence. *shakes head incomprehendingly, heart goes out to all those affected* |

The BBC website and associated news service are the best in the world and regularly recieve awards to that effect. The reason they say 2 dead is beacause they publish the known facts only. If you want the rumour mill try: http://www.cnn.com . The web site has been a bit slow in getting updated today, that's what I've thought, which is unusual as it's normally really prompt to report things. But I've been streaming Radio 5 from the BBC site all day to keep in touch with what's going on - there's a link on the right of the front of the BBC News web site to stream it. _____________________

The reason they say 2 dead is beacause they publish the known facts only. The known facts, as per the Metropolitan Police official spokesperson, is 33 dead. As reported by the BBC on tv. The rest of the world is reporting 45. So yes, its probably a case of slow updates. _____________________

UGH My bro just told me that his best friend was on a train, that got turned around, had he have been on his normal train (he was late), he would have been right in the middle of the blast. Now I feel sick. I know just how you feel. A good friend of mine is a flight attendant and used to regularly fly on flight 93, the one that went down in Pennsylvania on 9/11. He was in fact scheduled to fly on that plane later that day. And I have friends who worked in the WTC towers, but they hadn't shown up to work that early so they were fine. I was lucky no one I knew was killed that day. I hope everyone makes it through today ok. What a world. _____________________

Sorry I haven't posted sooner to say that my heart and thoughts are with you all in the UK. Our company has two offices over there and we have spent the morning trying to get in touch with them trying to make sure they are all ok.
I just feel so sick at heart that completely innocent people are being murdered and economies are being brought to their knees by a group of murdering extremeist. One thing though - you Brits are made of tough stock and as Arcadia said: Anybody who believes bombing will frighten the British into submission is a bloody fool, and further, a bloody fool who has never opened a history book. Our hearts go out to London and all of Great Britain. _____________________

The british economy was pricked, it bled a bit, but it was hardly "brought ot it's knees". It will recover. Like everyone is saying, you aren't going to get to the the British that easily. _____________________

Anybody who believes bombing will frighten the British into submission is a bloody fool, and further, a bloody fool who has never opened a history book. Our hearts go out to London and all of Great Britain. That's true. Ironic that Boadicea is allegedly burried near King's Cross. Even back in Roman times, it was a bad idea to mess with Britain. _____________________

You can watch the live video feed from BBC News 24 here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsa/n5ctrl/live/bb/wm/video/now3_bb.asx That's much more up to date. Wendel |

I'm glad to hear the SL family seems to be okay, thus far. This kind of thing is absolutely horrible, but Garth has it right... apparently these terrorists missed what happened in Coventry, and more recently, the remodeling of Manchester.
A year ago Jennyfur and I were riding the tube around London. We would normally normally be there, but as she mentioned... we put our plans off for the wedding. If I hear from any other SL residents, I'll be sure to post their names here. I made a fully animated Union Jack a while back in SL. I've put it up, available for free, here: http://www.slboutique.com/index.php?&p=buy&itemid=3109 Or you can copy it from Indigo @ (81,77) on top of the mountain. http://www.sluniverse.com/pics/pic.aspx?id=18230&sort=PictureID+desc I'm really tired of these wastes of flesh attacking my home countries. What a thing to wake up to on your birthday.Regards, -Flip _____________________
