Explosions In London

I"m on the other side of the pond, and let me tell you I"m very upset and saddened. I really never will understand how folks can do this to others. Just the worst of human behavior.

Agreed. My stomachs in complete knots, and I will prbly be sick before the day is out. I really hope whomever was involved in this sees justice

I am glad it looks like fatalities could be under 200. Frankly I think this is the best outcome that could have happened. The blasts in the London underground are a kind of relief, the end of a long wait.

Those who know London have known for some time the underground will be hit. It's underground. It's used by thousands and thousands every day. It's almost impossible to lock down entirely. It's a national monument of England. It's a sitting duck.

I'm glad that all those "they're just showing off, this will never really be needed" terrorism practice drills by the emergency services seem to have paid off, and people were swiftly evacuated from all stations.

They tried to ruin our Olympic celebrations. They tried to bring the entire of London to a halt, kill thousands, and make us all mourn. They got a few explosions and some casualties, but overall they failed.

I'm glad that when the attack came we were able to be prepared and to minimise the effects to a large degree.

For all those trying to contact people by mobile, don't panic. The networks close down the phones in incidents like this so they can not be used to set off bombs.


EDIT .... News is now saying Al-Qaeda type organization and Blair is on his way back to London

Blair is speaking from the G8 summit now.

I've been searching for any possible links with 7th July - only thing I can find of any significance is to do with Robert Mugabe.

G8 summit and the "winning" of the bid to have the Olympics are what most reporters are focused on as reasons for why to do it today.

Scotland Yard are indicating that the explosion on the bus was caused by a suicide bomber. Also Tony Blair is leaving the G8 Summit and returning to London.

All rail lines in to London are closed and they are saying 7 explosions numbers of dead are variable but seem to be around 20 at the moment.

I think I'm going to be sick.

As many of you know the Avalon Crews studio is very (400 yds from the bus explosion) close to the area affected. I am glad to say everyone is OK and we are following the Police advice and staying put.

The bus explosion was close to tube station - possibly his bomb went off early.

The lines closed not long before I was due to get on a train to Kings Cross. Still in shock I think.

The BBC have just said they have found an Al-Qaeda claim on a website....

I'm worried because I was to meet a friend at Kings Cross and she had to travel from Essex via the tubes

The monsters that did this made a poor calculation, they will soon learn that there is a huge difference between London & Madrid.

Just switiched over to BBC Parliment to see what they are saying and Parliment has been suspended until 12.50 when Charles Clarke will make a statement.

I've had soooo many messages and im's checking i'm ok! thankfully I am NOT in London this week, everyone I know there is all safe and well, which is great news.

I just dunno why the hell people do this, it really fucks me off.

and YES i don't care if its a PG forum.

My heart goes out to anyone affected by the needless violence of todays tragedy.

But before we ourselves get all extremist I believe it should be remembered the people who do this have an extraordinary motivation to hate the our greedy, self obsessed, morally bankrupt society ( as seen through their eyes ). Our own governments had no qualms about killing an estimated 300,000+ ( innocent ? ) civilians in Iraq and Afghanistan recently. Our own governments are about to FAIL to do anything about world debt in the G8 conference while our own corporations rape and pillage land and resources and some us still wonder why the rest of the world hates us so much. These atrocities will never stop until we are willing lead by example and show that we care about all the worlds people more than making money and profit for our own minority. No amount of rhetoric about terrorism can right the wrongs our own culture is inflicting on the poorer majority of the world, this is not simply about religion vs religion or opinion vs opinion it's about real and perhaps justified hate and resentment.

I am not in any way condoning the awful, terrible acts that these criminal people do any more than I condone us going to wars that end up making things worse. It's time for us to wake up and start to change the way we treat the rest of the world, all it needs is less greed and more moral responsibility.

Fuck it, I'm with Tony Blair on this one. I won't let these terrorists mess with my life as an English man.

I'm going to say here and now I don't give a damn. I'm not going to weep or be sad. When they reopen the tube I'll go on it.

They tried to kill loads of people and they failed cause they are pathetic. Sad and pathetic. Fuck them. They won't change my life, and I will ignore them. They are nothing to me.

I think the people dying or dead from today, would have wanted every English citizen to stand proud, dust themselves off, and keep being themselves. Show this will not ruin our way of life. We will go on just fine.

I was travelling to Liverpool Street (site of the first explosion) this morning as I do every day. I'm just relieved that I was so tired after playing too much SL and got up too late to get there at 9am.
