UGH

My bro just told me that his best friend was on a train, that got turned around, had he have been on his normal train (he was late), he would have been right in the middle of the blast.

Now I feel sick.

Willow, that confirms that saying about fate works in mysterious ways. Just glad to know that your friend wasn't injured.

Reading this thread gave me goosebumps. My thoughts and prayers to all of you. *hugs*

Fuck it, I'm with Tony Blair on this one. I won't let these terrorists mess with my life as an English man.

I'm going to say here and now I don't give a damn. I'm not going to weep or be sad. When they reopen the tube I'll go on it.

They tried to kill loads of people and they failed cause they are pathetic. Sad and pathetic. Fuck them. They won't change my life, and I will ignore them. They are nothing to me.

I think the people dying or dead from today, would have wanted every English citizen to stand proud, dust themselves off, and keep being themselves. Show this will not ruin our way of life. We will go on just fine.

That's the spirit, Jsecure! Since I've been watching this since, oh, 5 am, and seeing the people still calm and collected, I was put in mind of London during the blitz. With the Queen (Mother, I believe it was) insisting on remaining with her children in the city, and trudging daily from one bombed-out site to another.

I admire that so much.

I turned myself around as soon as it started sounding more than the usual London travel mess ups was going on. It scares me to think I should normally have been going down the elevators to Liverpool Street Underground Station around 9am.

A PREVIOUSLY unknown group claimed responsibility in the name of al-Qaeda for a series of blasts in London, the Italian news agency ANSA reported today.

The "Secret Group of al-Qaeda's Jihad in Europe'' claimed the attack in a website posting and warned Italy and Denmark to withdraw their troops from Iraq and Afghanistan, ANSA said.
The claim could not be verified and did not appear on any of the websites normally used by al-Qaeda

Yeah, I think OK so they hit us, we either sit down, and we're down for the count, or we get up again and get on with it...

I admire the Queen Mother for that action during the Blitz. We have to stand firm.

Wishes the best for our British friends!

This world seems to be filled with hatred and animosity, TG we can escape to our world in SL! To all of my British friends I send you my love and wishes that this most horrid act has not killed many and that the injured recover quickly. I never will understand things like this my mind is not wired to comprehend. Hopefully we can all hug our British loved ones today and show our support for our European friends and family. TC my friends I shed tears for you this morning! Hugs and Kisses to you my dearest of friends.

My heart goes out to anyone affected by the needless violence of todays tragedy.

But before we ourselves get all extremist I believe it should be remembered the people who do this have an extraordinary motivation to hate the our greedy, self obsessed, morally bankrupt society ( as seen through their eyes ). Our own governments had no qualms about killing an estimated 300,000+ ( innocent ? ) civilians in Iraq and Afghanistan recently. Our own governments are about to FAIL to do anything about world debt in the G8 conference while our own corporations rape and pillage land and resources and some us still wonder why the rest of the world hates us so much. These atrocities will never stop until we are willing lead by example and show that we care about all the worlds people more than making money and profit for our own minority. No amount of rhetoric about terrorism can right the wrongs our own culture is inflicting on the poorer majority of the world, this is not simply about religion vs religion or opinion vs opinion it's about real and perhaps justified hate and resentment.

I am not in any way condoning the awful, terrible acts that these criminal people do any more than I condone us going to wars that end up making things worse. It's time for us to wake up and start to change the way we treat the rest of the world, all it needs is less greed and more moral responsibility.

Well said. However, the fact that these attacks take place on the day that we attempt to tackle some of these issues speaks volumes.

al jihad has claimed responsibility

Yep, first comes the hit, then they vaguely try to claim they were responsible. For this wonderfully, powerfully thought out crime? No.

For a few guys living in one bedroom flats in a damp, rotten pit in London, wasting their days trying to make home made bombs, then finally chancing their hand and putting them on our tube trains. For a few brainless twits trying to make out like they are an 'organisation'.

These idiots may have made us late for our meetings today, but let's not kid ourselves. Al Quaeda are not responsible. They are just a few ragtag individuals running scared in cities around the world, who sometimes get a bomb or two off.

Nobody cares. And they're not big, or hard, or clever. Just kind of sad, very small, pathetic, disorganised, stupid. Even the Islamists look on them with disgust.

Claiming responsibility... Don't make me laugh, they couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery. Some loners in London got a bit lucky with some home made kit, and a few died as a result. But they haven't even come close to shaking up this nation. Nah, we're a LOT bigger and better than that.

Its likely the attacks weren't so much designed to kill and maim. Given that all the attacks were focussed in and around the financial district, and in the few hours since, Sterling has dropped significantly, the FTSE has dropped 3%, and millions of workers are unable to get to their places of work. Before this day is out, the net effect will have cost billions, even if the physical damage itself isnt too severe.

(My place (Lloyds of London) is obviously affected, since it's right in the middle, and likely insures most of the stuff that was blown up!)

Just got to work and heard everything on the news on the way in. I logged on right away to check on our London based community members. My stomach is in knots and my heart is aching terribly. Thank you to those in this thread who have given updates both about the explosions as well as updates on the fact that some of our community members are ok. My heart goes out to friends and their families in London. I hope no one in our community lost anyone during this horrible event.

I'm keeping you all in my thoughts! *hugs*

Anyone speak German? I'm guessing it's a letter from Al Qaeda or an associated group.

This is sad and stupid. How can humans treat each other like this? I hope no one in SL was hurt or lost a loved one to this, and I wish no one did.

:) I think you have to keep on moving. We will bury our dead and say goodbye, but if you dwell on this spineless act, you glorify the peons that carried this out. And I reckon anyone injured today would hate the idea that people might be sitting down on this. We're not down, and we're not out, so we'll stand thanks, and get on with it.

Just checked into the forums now... I was busy making sure someone very important to me was ok.

I thank God she is and pray for all those caught in the explosions in London this morning.

Of Yassin Musharbash

The terrorist organization aluminium-Qaida has itself to the notices of London well-known. A group named "secret organization - aluminium-Qaida in Europe" published frequented InterNet side a Bekennerschreiben after information from MIRROR ON-LINE ONE on one of Islamics.

The Bekennerschreiben of the Qaida

The Bekennerschreiben of the Qaida
Berlin - "you happy, community of the Muslims" makes, is called it in the letter, which is present MIRROR ON-LINE ONE. "the heroful Mudschahidin accomplished, continues to be called today an attack in London" it. Great Britain is now shaken and shocked completely, "in the north, in the south, in the west and in the east". "we warned, write the British government and the British people again and again" the authors. "we held our promise and accomplished a gesegnete military operation."

"we warn also further", are called it in the document, "the governments of Denmark and Italy and all further cross driver governments". All states are requested to withdraw their troops from Afghanistan and the Iraq.

The authenticity of the document could be confirmed not immediately. On the InterNet side, on that it publish - the forum "aluminium-Qala'a" - in the past months regularly authentic Bekennerschreiben and bulletins of different groups of terror, among other things the Iraqi aluminium-Qaida-branch had already accumulated. In addition, unauthentisches material is occasionally gepostet there. The today's Posting is signatoryly with "secret organization - aluminium-Qaida (woertl.: the Dschihad basis) in Europe".
