No kids in the real SL, EVER!

The problem comes in when you are approached by a hoarde of lawyers suing you or having your arrested for corrupting little 15 year old Jonny when his irate parents find out you have bumping virtual nasties or exposing your voluptuous glands and/or "man-sized" appendages to him at night.

But, see, 15 year old Johnny shouldn't come in then, if he can't handle whatever the hell comes toward him. I once saw a penis, shooting particle sperm. I think that kids that ARE muture enough shud come here though. We shouldn't allow 12 - down, because, well, they don't know what is here. But, then, at the same time, there really is an incredible amount of cool things here, and if they were mature, would build even more cool things. I know it would be almost impossible to "seek an destroy" immature minors, and I admit to seeing how it messes up other people's games... my favorite example is Runescape. EXTREMLY crappy game, but because most of the virtual population are 10 year old, running around shouting the bad word they just heard someone say in a movie. But, the kid that doesn't do that, actually tries to have a good time, and play the game, I think they would be PERFECT for SL.

For one thing the adult content on this server would not be appropriate for those under 18 and probably would end up in lawsuits..I don't think they will add under 18 to this server..if anything they would make a seperate server because it would probably be Illegal to do it with this server..and im sure most of us do not want to see the adult content change here and the Linden dollar crash. It would also ruin my Male Dancer business.

I think it would work If they are totally separated from the rest of the mature world. I thought that having PG sims was so that minors could participate under adult supervision or at least the parents knowing what is going on. There just needs to be a block for humans who are not 18 or older for M sims. I support it for certain childrens that cannot have a social life or are handicapped. It would be really nice to see everyone have to take a literacy test, much like but far better/more comprehensive than The Kingdom of Loathing.

Kids are kids; nothing can change that. Be it the way the act, talk, etc; they will be kids. If they don't get what they want, they will let you know in a LOUD way. SL is fine the way it is, for adults.

It isn't called SecondLife for nothing. Kids haven't even had their first life, let alone a second life.

If you want kids joining us, have them go to DL aka DisneyLand.

The one thing I really like about SL is that it is an Adult Oriented game.

It's messy when you have to think about flagging, integration, seperate locations, cause they never work correctly.

I had an occassion severl months ago where I met an avitar that invited me to the house. I then was given permission to modify everthing there. Come to find out that it was the child of a member who had got online. The group of people in this location were talking about how they were baby sitting and that little so and so was going around and giving permissions to everybody.

Needless to say it was embarassing for the group to have to hunt down all of the ppl that had permissions.

To be honest SL is NOT a place for Kids! There is too much stuff here that is not really KID friendly.

What she said... My very first thought when they mentioned kids in SL. The first minor that is legally sanctioned in SL will be the death nell. There is no rationalising with the moral majority, no reasoning, no nothing. They can put a Sim up with iron walls around it, but it'll still be SL. Linden will paint a big ol' bullseye on themselves and every conservative in the world will have a shot. How many lawsuits do you suppose $9.95 for life supports? IMHO, letting kids in here will be the end. Period.

The webpage that advertises and introduces Second Life to visitors doesn't say or show anything about the 'mature' content. The hottest animation you see there is that tango dance. (so please Linden Lab, get some pictures from our strippers, muscled males with leather thongs and do show some other poser stuff then a tango, because thats what this world is mostly about)
So i can imagine some parents can be fooled into letting their children play SL.
I bumped into SL on a gaming webpage, looked at the webpage and seriously thought it was something like TSO.
When one logs in the game being a new resident the Mature places and events arent checked. Yet on my first hour, standing in PG area (the phobos newbie shops to be exactly) i got offered 'business' and when i had no clue what this guy was talking about being called names wich i wont repeat here.
During my frist week i was amazed by what was going on in Second Life. No matter how much we would like to call this a mirror of first life, it isn't. Look at the number of strippers and prostitutes, masters and slaves, and what not more, people can let loose their fantasies in this virtual world wich are impossible in real life (thank god!).
I'm an adult woman and i have sex in rl, yet i often get annoyed by the huge exposure of sexual behavior and chat. As a mother not a hair on my head would think of let any child into this world.
If Philip Linden is serious about this he will have to remove all the adult and/or 'mature' content or he will be sued endless, wich basicly means he will lose most of his customer base of today and lead Second Life to something completly different or to it's end.

A MINORITY, A VERY SMALL MINORITY of people engage in sexual acts inside of Second Life, and I look down on those people, since they are turning to SL for their action. Second life is about BUILDING, SCRIPTING, and HAVING FUN. To say AV sex makes up a majority of SL is like saying all of the world hates black people. Its a gross exageration, while only 1% of ignorent fools actually do, and 99% are tolerent.

Yes, make an SL for teens - call it 2L Teen or whatever - but make it a completely different site that is in no way connected to the original SL.

Children are not minature sized adults, their brains are actually more immature than ours. That's not an insult like slag, or whore, it's a medical term.

Take sex for example. When my parents told me that they had sexual intercourse, I put that in the same place in my brain as when I heard my dad liked to go golfing. It didn't mean anything to me. It didn't register. It would take time, with me wanting to kiss girls, then wanting to fool around with them, for reasons I couldn't explain, then wanting to touch bits of them that weren't any more interesting than their kneecap before, it took this slow development process before I understood lust, and desire, and SEX, and fucking in preference to making love, and raw sexual energy. It does not compute in a child's brain. They're simply not ready to handle that kind of load.

So what happens when you put all that onto a child before they're ready? Well sadly in England we have a few test cases to observe. Children that have been raped. The fact is, they go on to have a lot of sex. Cool huh? No, they don't have fun sex, they have mindless sex that they don't really care about. They get pregnant at young ages. Their idea of adult relationships is all messed up. They sometimes are fearful of sexual situations, or have no feelings of intimacy. In short, they go wrong. Badly wrong.

Little wonder then that parents have for centuries been protecting their children from predators, and allowing them to grow up at their own pace, and only handle the adult world when they're ready. They are children, and they can't look after themselves in an adult world, and they do need us to protect them.

Children are naturally curious. You let them in here? Of course they'll try imitate mummy and daddy, putting on mommy's dresses and daddy's suits, talking like Mommy and Daddy. But they're not ready for that world, and they don't know it cause they can't know it cause they're still too young and undeveloped to know it.

And I haven't even mentioned that if you bring kids into an adult game like this, paedophiles will doubtless flock here and start grooming them for sex in the real world. Are you a paedophile? Am I? Maybe we won't find out till it's too late.

There is hardly any point to having children here, but we can do an awful lot of damage to them. This place is an adult playground for all our fantasies, a second life. It is NOT a place for children.
