Like there's a point in all this controversy!

Well stop asking silly questions and watch the thread die its natural death.

I don't think the fact that anyone is a greeter or a christian has anything to do with the thread topic. I do however think it is a personal attack that is ignored by the Mods.

No Catherine, it is NOT a personal attack. It is a statement of fact. Lewis has made moral judgements of people that he has NEVER met. He is also a Greeter - a representative of Second Life - were it my company (and I am well aware of the fact that it is NOT), I would at least ask that Lewis use an alt to post moral pronouncements. JMO

***EDIT TO ADD***

I guess making blanket attacks against groups of people is ok.

As for the last name Suicide, well, I go by Lucy Suicide on onemodelplace, MSN, myspace, all forums I sign up for, modelmayhem, AIM, or anything I'm a member of. This is the first time I've ever heard a complaint about the name.

Some people just have the stick too far up their ass, they can't reach it anymore to pull it out! :D

Welcome to SL, Lucy! I think your name is great and funny!

Ok.... it just seemed a logical conclusion that over 100 people coming from the same place, being given over 7,000 sq m of land, might have had a specific purpose in mind, that's all.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Lewis

Wow, first you judge me and my group of friends based upon a website that you know nothing about but condemn nonetheless, and then you basically call me a liar.

I'm naked on a website, therefore I'm not good enough to share an online game with your holy presence? Do you hate pretty girls or something?

Oh I'm pretty sure they do have one in mind! I bet they are here to have some FUN and meet people. How dare they, eh? :D

If he is expected to represent LL, shouldn't he be a paid employee? Right now he is just a customer working for free, so he just represents himself.

However offensive I have found many of Lewis' posts, Eboni is right about this. He's not a paid employee and SL is all about free speech.

As a greeter, he is, by proxy, a representative of SECOND LIFE... the newbies don't know that he's not a paid employee. Geesh, you'd think I said Lewis was the Devil himself and boiled babies or something.

No doubt there are Christian Missionaries within the game, perhaps also people from wierd and wacky cults
Is there a difference between these two groups aside from one being your weird, wacky, cult?

I guess it must be Narrow-Minded Provincialism Day, and you didn't even send me a card!

Then he should be paid, so LL can control his speech or they should hire employees to represent them properly. Obviously, since they aren't willing to pay, they don't care much about how they are respresented, and neither should you.

I heard Lewis boiled babies in the WA in a LL cauldron.

By the way, I volunteered for the Olympics in Atlanta in 1996... I DID NOT get paid for it. I was still a REPRESENTATIVE for not only the United States, but also for the USOC. Representing something does not mean you get paid to do it.

***EDIT*** Since I was a volunteer employee for the USOC, I suppose it would have been ok for me to make blanket statements about our visitors, huh? We had very STRICT guidelines.. and being in uniform (wearing your av) meant you were a representative.. out of uniform (using an alt), anything goes

Eboni, clean records are one requirement of volunteering, so I think LL does see them as representative of their company.

Welcome to SL Lucy - I wouldn't worry too much with the residient puritans. For the most part Second Life is very open and accepting. There are a few nutters, but for the most part they are easy to spot and easier to ignore.

Of course you can poke them with a big stick too - thats also fun.

The important thing is just to do what you like - explore - create - and enjoy. I'm sure the hooplah will settle down in no time, just about any time something or someone new starts you get a 'usual suspects' of people who howl at the moon about how this will destroy their second life experience.. and in a weeks time it settles down and they wait for the next drama bomb.

Anyways - hope you enjoy.

I'd be very interested in some quotes from posts (perhaps mine), that qualify as being an "attack" and worthy of submitting an AR. Based on your response, I may have to review some earlier posts I considered unprovoked attacks on me.

Thank you.

The thread isn't realy about Lewis or morality issues. It's about a marketing deal.

This thread is really about conjecture and half-truths. We do not know the "deal" and I don't believe we should be privy to the deal, either.

You are just entering a really redundant loop with him, I wouldn't bother yourself with worrying about it or even responding, you won't get very far - you will be "attacking him". He has already prejudged everyone from the site and everyone who visits the site as being immoral and not the kind of people who should be in SL. Luckily, the rest of us are far more welcoming. Welcome to SL, Lucy.

I believe it was Lewis who first pointed out that this situation was a moral "issue".
