I am a bit shocked few seems to care or can even understand that this is about a business failing to live up to their promise and not about just a prim baby. The creator is rude and will not respond.
I am sure this has happened to many in sl, whether it be clothing, houses, furniture, etc. There are many GREAT vendors who truly want to have a nice business but I tired of the ones that think it is funny and think nothing will ever happen if they make a habit of scamming.
Unfortunately, Angela and I have both tired numerous times to get answers and there is no way to give negative rates now that they are no longer available. So we thought ppl would like to know what has happened.
I know if a company i was buying from was in the habit of doing this, I would like to know.

As has been mentioned before, I don't really see anyone laughing.

I am amazed that this person is still in business in SL. As someone who has a product for the same market (a pregnancy AO), I meet a lot of people who are interested in babies in SL. Time and again, this same company comes up as being a scam. It is a shame that the TOS binds us from posting about this (unless of course you own enough land that LL looks the other way, apparently), because this particular company has scammed a lot of people out of a lot of money by not delivering on what was promised, no pun intended.

Sorry that this happened to you. Word of mouth is a powerful thing, but unfortunately, as SL grows larger and the TOS binds us from even being able to alert people to bad products or outright scams, this will continue to go on. As always, buyer beware. Before you are considering purchasing anything you consider to be expensive in SL, ask around about the company. Being an informed consumer is always a good thing.

PRIM BABIES = SERIOUS BUSINESS!

If there's anything worthy of derision in SL, it's prim babies. I can think of few things more sad and pathetic.

You take a risk when you buy anything over the internet. Unless you are buying from a well established company. SL is many times worse, because there is little resemblence of law enforcement here. You only have a merchant's good reputation as a guide and sometimes that's not enough. You could get in a dispute with a well known builder that something was not what you thought they promised, they say tough and you just end up so many $L poorer.

So - even with the silly remarks - we are helping you by keeping this thread alive. Otherwise, it would have dropped to page two by now. Originally, the complaint should have been aired from a business perspective. When the appeal to sympathy was made about the buying a baby in SL - which you have to admit is a little strange - you made yourself vulnerable.

Pregnancy Merchants? Baby Merchants? I wonder what we will call this new field? I wager they will have about the same honesty rate compared to the average sex trade merchant. Sex trade merchants can afford to stiff the occassional customer every so often. Because they know they their cheated customer will never admit to trying to buy it on the forums. So, I am wagering he made the assumption.

You have my sympathy for being cheated of L$.

Well I admit my first thought was to tell my favorite animator that she was missing a market niche by not making a "delivery" table complete with squatting, grunting, puking, screaming, ... oh and rezzing a blood soaked placenta.....

She was not amused... but I've notice that women who have never given birth (and guys too) are often grossed out about the placenta part of a birthing conversation.

I will refrain from telling my best real-life placenta story here in the interests of good taste.

At least I don't expect skins with post-pregnancy stretchmarks and 15 lbs of stubborn baby fat to become popular anytime soon.

So, I'm interested: would a Better Business Bureau be against the ToS?

I mean, its bad you got scammed.. It shouldn't have happened.. But you move on and deal with it.. Live and learn, don't pay until you recieve the product..

But getting upset over a scripted prim baby? (which is what I assume this is)

Okay. My opinions on the nature of babies in SL aside, I think i'd heard of this before.

It seems this place, Natural choice was it?, has been doing this to a lot of virtual parents (in 2 senses of the word), or atleast that i've heard of this happening via forum posts more than a few times. I'm assuming that since there was a time period put inbetween the payment and the recieving of the product, that you paid first for them to start production on this thing, and that they'd hand it to you when they were done, no? Unfortunately, SL is still a rather untamed land in that sense, and much like a deal between thieves, you should really keep in mind to pay when you get "the stuff".

But it's a bit late for that so the only causes of action I can think of know are this:

1.) Abuse Report the maker and the store, LL doesn't like to get involved in financial matters between residents usually but atleast let them know if you haven't already, and maybe you can get it solved with some "divine intervention" or atleast have this place known about.

2.) Do what you're doing now: get the word out. If there's anything that business owners and scammers don't like, it's bad publicity. Tell prospective parents, friends, forums, what happened. There's not a lot of wide spread media in SL like a Television, so the best that can be done for this in a communicative sense is word of mouth.

3.) Pester the hell out of the guy. Maybe he really is just a lazy guy and didn't plan on extorting you. If that's true then some gentle (or not so gentle) prodding will keep him going. And if he did plan on extorting you, maybe it'll annoy him into action.

Besides that I can't think of much to do aside from not taking the whole thing so seriously. It's a miniscule amount of money for a clump of prims in the vague resemblance of a baby, certainly no 9 months of gestation and pickles and ice cream were involved, so what might be suggested is just to cut your losses and move on to a more reliable maker who doesn't require you to pay up front.

truely sorry. I didn't say that to be mean. It just makes sence that if people role play marriage and then role play haveing a baby in a game that, if for whatever reason there is no baby, they should role play it somehow.
