I'm not going to try and tell you how to post, and I'm not even going to try and tell you to take a step back and reread how you come off in this thread, because I know you won't see it. I will give this tip, however... Had you quoted Cristiano's question, and then quoted Robin, or quoted where you had the text bolded that was giving you the idea resident mods would be able to ban people from the game, it would have answered his question. It would have been a reasonable answer to a question, and illustrated that maybe it was him who was failing to grasp something, instead of you flipping out.

Then you SURELY read that sentence which I bolded and discussed before Cristiano (and now you) purported to have no idea why I was discussing it and I bolded it again. Yes, it was him failing to grasp something, and going further to suggest I was "parlaying" something.

As to how I come off, I not only see it perfectly well, I resent it. I know damn well he's pushed my buttons, and he knows it, too. And I know it doesn't look good. Of course I know that. In the future, he won't be getting that sort of response from me. That much, at least, has been accomplished here.

Do you even know what parlay means? It means to take something and make it into something more. That is all I asked - how you parlayed one thing into another. You flipped out from that point. That is what this entire thing has been about. I asked you a legitimate question, and your reaction to it was unreal. I am glad other people in this thread can see it easily. The word parlay does not imply paranoia, manipulation, or all the other ridiculous shit you have attributed to it for some strange reason. When it came to the "comedy gold" thing with Aimee, you conveniently left off the fact that you started the entire thing - and were condescending and sarcastic with her - then when she said you were comedy gold, you went off about her being elitist. When it comes to your multple comments now about the one star, you conveniently left out my apology to you at the time for the misunderstanding about the star thing - I was not rating your personality overall - I rated the thread one star for both the topic, and how you acted in that thread, which I found to be ridiculous. That you would ask such an obviously disrespectful question is stunning to me, sir, especially in light of the qualifications recounted herein. I think we all need to stop questioning Cocoanut, when she is obviously better qualified to hold opinions than the rest of us. Particularly given she went to a university! Questioning her assertions is just plum wrong and we should be ashamed.

You keep focusing on 'parlaying' as if he's accused you of some malicious crime. You took Robin's comment about what may happen in future, and acted as if it were a foregone conclusion already written in stone, and were basing a good deal of your indignation and objection on it. That is parlaying it. Taking something and turning it into something bigger than it is. (Too slow, I see Cristiano already covered this.)

I see where you jumped to that conclusion from, but I don't agree with the leap. Perhaps it's my own wishful thinking, but I'm not going to consider that a foregone conclusion until it's actually implemented. I have some small amount of faith that LL will realize what an incredibly boneheaded move that would be. Forum posters can't be trusted to use the star rating system without being vindictive assholes about it, so trusting them with the responsibility of deciding who should be banned from the forums and/or game would just be retarded.

See that is not the way I took it at all. I can't imagine that LL would ever let anyone but their own staff actually give out abuse reports. I do think however that they will stop being the front line moderators on the forums and let residents handle that - which I think is a good idea personally, though I will reserve judgement until it actually occurs and I see the outcome. Reviewing forum post reports is not the same thing as reviewing abuse reports in SL. I would probably estimate that 50% or more of the reports of threads here are not TOS related. Having to deal with only the reports that are actually actionable I think would help LL to more fairly moderate as they would have more time to look into the actual incident and context than they do right now while also investigating 10,000 reports of "Cristiano said the word fuck!". Having a report that a thread should be moved go through Jeska, then having Jeska tell the moderator of that forum or move it herself is inefficient when the moderators could be reviewing the reports themselves. Again, time will tell what their plans are.

This thread has parlayed into personal attacks and as such is being closed. In the future please try to refrain from oh screw it.

It's the forum abuse reports I'm referring to, which I didn't make clear. I don't think resident mods should have anything to do with them, at all, ever. It takes away the semi-anonymity of being able to post them. It won't be only a Linden who sees them, but a resident.

If Siggy is a res-mod (hahaha, oh that's a good one, just an example who I know won't fill their diaper over being used) and I take offense to something he posts, will I be as likely to AR his post knowing he may be the one who gets that report? And what if we start hearing in world how Lowly Newbie had the gall to AR MissCongeniality Jones? Or that Nanny Knowsall filed 20 ARs on Tuesday! Who files what against whom should be no one's business but the filer and the Lindens.

I don't believe that it is a foregone conclusion, or I wouldn't be trying to discuss it. But it is definitely THERE, in Robin's message. I didn't make it up out of whole cloth. I consider that an absolutely horrid possibility.

And speaking of star-ratings, don't y'all have anything to say about that? I consider it an incredibly bone-headed (and arrogant and self-reverential) move to limit star-ratings to mods! But you know, let's not talk about that either.

Yeah I did think about that. Perhaps they could find a way to have the reports viewed without listing who filed them. There has to be some way to cut down on the massive amount of reports. I think some people would definitely be surprised by who reports people, and what they say sometimes.
