I'll have some of that NoCal for sure. At my age, the fewer calories the better that's for sure.

Can't duct tape a plant silly. We secret antigluelikechlorophyllystuff all day long.

Don't forget that the activities will be tied to the in-world event (hopefully week-long, again), with planned mixed-reality streaming!

We estimate that the 450 spots will go fast.

Welcome to beautiful San Francisco!
05-15-2006 16:02
I am so happy that the SLCC will not only be in my own beautiful city, but in the same location as the school where I've been taking music lessons: Blue Bear School of Music. If I become the next hot live music act in SL, you'll have them to thank!

Fort Mason is a great location for visitors - easy to get a view of the Golden Gate Bridge if it's not cloudy, stroll on the nearby pier, watch for pelicans and other birds. Greens Restaurant is also at Fort Mason, offering gourmet vegetarian fare and lovely views. Also not too far away is Lombard Street, the famous "crookedest street in the U.S."

Just take my advice and stay away from Fisherman's Wharf, which put "tourist trap" into the dictionary.

We're pleased to announce that the second annual Second Life Community Convention will occur at the Fort Mason Center in San Francisco, California, from August 18th-20th. We have a preliminary framework of the weekends' events, and a great team assembled to bring it to you!

We will have the new web site up and running in about a week, and will begin accepting registrations then.

Ok so the big question is where in world are we going to have it...?
Some place Hip I hope.
Hint, hint ...

Don't kill me Spin.. stop.. I mean Astrid :D We will only kill the prim limit for a couple of days in Aug...

See you then

If I get a job soon, going to SLCC will be piece of cake.

So

I'd better get a job.

Anybody got one for me? :(

Going to try my best to be there. Planning a trip to Vegas around that time anyway, so I may have to just extend it a bit northwestward!

Question: Will there be an ambulance on standby? ;)

I'll be there! I'm hoping to actually fly in the Thursday beforehand so that I can explore SF. I'm also bringing an empty suitcase so I can go SHOPPING!

Wow, both the NNash brothers and Katt? Awesome! Who wants to take bets that a ton of us get Nexus and Nolan backwards throughout the weekend? :)

I'd have loved to have gone, but due to the conflicting part of the name (there wasn't any 'community' involved in the 'community convention' planning this year), I'll be skipping it.

Maybe next year. Assuming the community is permitted to join into the decision process.

Being my hometown, I'm sure I'll be there - camera in-hand for some incriminating pictures. ;)

Not too late to convene a simultaneous convention exactly where you want it to be....nobody said there had to be just *one*.

Let us know where your plans take you! We'd probably like to link up a webcast or something.

It should be cool to see where you select, in any case.

Many apologies that we could not have it in your hometown.

Here's a thought though since you so value the opinion of all 200,000+ SL residents and feel that the SLCC organizers didn't adequately take into account said resident population, why don't you start polling all 200,000 residents now for next years location. Then you can send the SLCC organizers a written report of your results that way we do not have to waste our valuable time doing it ourselves. Until then get over it. Its in San Fran. Deal with it.

w00t!

Just confirmed: the final session of the general interest portion of the Convention on Saturday will be a TAG-TEAM discussion with Philip and Cory simultaneously!

I expect them to do one Blues Brothers skit, as well as some Cheech and Chong routines!

:)

Considering my hometown is in the arctic circle, I had absolutely no delusions about that one happening.

Let's see, if you're part of the decision making committee, then there should be no need for me to tell you how to do the organizing. You should be qualified in figuring that out. Oh, but wait. You're organizing a 'community' convention without the input from 'the community'. Seems like your qualifications are sincerely lacking.

If you're unable or unwilling to involve the community input because of 50,000 residents (I removed the 150,000 alts from your inflated number), then you are clearly in over your head. Now if you're organizing the "SL Convention" (note the removal of the word "community";), then I wish you the best of luck. Otherwise, your red herring argument is starting to smell like the week-old distraction that it is.

Once you've figured out how to perform the basics of a Community convention, then I'll be glad to stop raining on your horse-blinders parade.

My, my, such hostility! This is the type of response you get when you organize a 'community' convention, then don't get the community involved in it. Don't like it when people disagree with it? Tuff. If you want to make the decisions, you get the complaints that come with the arbitrary and ill-conceived decisions. To use your own words, 'get over it'.
