We're pleased to announce that the second annual Second Life Community Convention will occur at the Fort Mason Center in San Francisco, California, from August 18th-20th. We have a preliminary framework of the weekends' events, and a great team assembled to bring it to you! We will have the new web site up and running in about a week, and will begin accepting registrations then. Here are more details about some of our plans for the weekend: Friday, August 18th (6pm - 11pm): The Cowell Theater at the Fort Mason Center The first evening will feature some of Second Life's best known live musicians and innovative DJs playing at the theater. The lobby will house appetizers and an open bar, with 2500 square feet (800 meters for those measuring in prims) of room to mingle. The theater has space for 450 avatars, err I mean, people. Check out your favorite musicians from Second Life; meet your favorite SLebrities, and share a drink with them! See SL's most innovative DJs, or just chill out in the lobby; the choice is yours. Arrive in San Fran, get to your hotel, check your bags, and join the rest of us! We'll open doors at 4pm if you're early and curious (if you like, help us set up!). Contact Drift Monde or Nethermind Bliss for more details. Details and photos of the Fort Mason Center can be seen on their web site: http://www.FortMason.orgSaturday, August 19th (9am - 7pm): The Cowell Theater at the Fort Mason Center Wake up early and have breakfast, mingling and coffee at 9am, the first session begins at 10. The day will consist of general interest Second Life sessions, including learning how to build your Second Life brand from Rivers Run Red chief Fizik Baskerville, owner of the avalon. brand (and sim!) in Second Life, session with your favorite Lindens, and panels with the industries brightest stars! A more detailed agenda will be posted on the web site as it is finalized! Saturday Night: Resident led parties, dinner, and events! Several groups have already contacted us about hosting smaller, private parties for Second Life special interest groups. Residents are encouraged to run specialized activities; so far, Alt-Zoom studios is scoping out a location for a machinima party, and a second live music event is in the works. Sunday, August 20th (times vary): Fort Mason Center and elsewhere Sunday will be entirely Resident driven. We’ve reserved five rooms at the Fort Mason Center for groups interested in sharing a session of 20-40 people each. So far, we've heard interest from groups focusing on education, business, machinima, and design. We'll open up submissions shortly. In addition, residents have volunteered to lead social groups to the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Got a specific interest? Let us know! We'll add it to our web site. We want to make this SLCC the best possible experience for all attendees. Last year, it was wonderful to meet everyone face to face; this year, we're looking to allow attendees to customize their experience to their interests. As you can see, many things will be happening in parallel; we plan to broadcast both Friday night and Saturday's event within Second Life. However, if you don't attend live, you will be missing quite a bit! We hope you choose to attend!Regards, The SLCC Team

Whatever you do, don't throw any after-parties in the Marina District, even though it's right across the street-- the Marina is distinctly unfriendly to geeks. There's some cool fun bars in Fisherman's Wharf/North Beach nearby; I'm spacing on the name, but there's a fun Irish pub 10-12 blocks away Fort Mason with good drink specials, arcade games, and Indian food (!) already popular with the Lindens.

From: Francis Chung You can't say "ya'll" in California! Yeah! Anyway, it's "all ya'll" if your referring to more than 1 person. Darn yankees.

You can't say ya'll anywhere unless you're talking about horse eggs. The contraction of you all is y'all.
