Yeah, I'm not getting the sculpty option in the export menu either. Removing the other wpc_xxx.beam files makes those options go away... but the wpc_sculpty option isn't there :-/

I also am having the same problem with the scuplty option it is not listed in my export menu HELP

Not sure if this has been mentioned, (searched the thread for 'recenter', didn't find it) but I think the 'allow recentering' option in the exporter is possibly buggy.

While using the 32x31 cylinder template, making an archway entrance for a building, I wanted the height dimension to be the full 10m. I usually only mess with the 'allow rescaling' option- off if I am using the sculpt on a mega, otherwise I have it on for better resolution/detail. With repeated attempts, I was unable to get the sculpt to the full 10m height of the bounding box- until I turned off 'allow recentering' (relying instead on wings tools>center>all). While 'allow recentering' was on, I consistantly ended up with the sculpt ~7.5m tall. Manually, I finally got the full 10m. I don't believe I've had this problem before now, but am not certain I would have noticed.

Could this be caused because my arch placed the center point of the cylinder off to the side? IE is the exporter recenter going by the original template center (in the end, above the arch/doorway) rather than the finished shape's center? (which in this case would have fallen in the open arch where no actual point existed)

Currently using the 1.0.1 version of wings.

Omei Turnbull:
"When recentering, the exporter calculates the "center" as the average of the sculpties vertices. In retrospect, this was probably not the best choice. Did your arch had a lot more points located in the top half than the bottom, say? (([answer: yes, it did])) If so, that would cause the exporter to place the "center" closer to the top than the bottom. This, in turn, would limit the maximum range of values."

Standard torus object gives "closed" form
12-11-2009 12:09
Hello,

I installed Wings3D 1.0.2 on my Mac with the standard exporter for sculpties. I also downloaded the "advanced topology templates". However, when I open the "32x32 torus quad" file and I export it as it is. Then import it in Second life and create a sculpty with it. You get a "curious" result: the sculpty has a "bottom".

Any idea what could be the problem with this? I exported it as 32x32 and 64x62, allowed recentering.

I tried to add an attachment to this post, but it seems not to work :(

Greetings

Hey, I fixed my own problem... just describe the solution here, in case someone runs into the same thing.

In the edit window, under the object tab, you can find the sculpt map. Below it is a stitching type. Put that one on torus and voila: a torus with a hole inside :)

Try 32x31 i think its the only one the export script supports.

via experimentation i've discovered that the generation of a sphere will export with the below settings.

in order to use the exporter you need to make a sphere by using these 4 settings for sculpty prim resolutions

right click then go to sphere then right click the option and use these settings

1: sections 8 slices 7
2: sections 16 slices 15
3: sections 32 slices 31
4: sections 64 slices 63

you may think its odd that the last sets are odd numbers but thats how it works.

[Solved]Import raising Internal Error
01-11-2010 16:43
WinVista
Wings 3D 1.2.rc3
Export works as designed.
Can take a just exported file and then attempt to Import. The program processes the file and then raises an Internal error and generates a crash dump.

Get the same result with XP (SP2) compatibility mode.

Get the same result with ROKURO Ver.2.0.0.175 made *.bmp files.

Anyone have a solution?

Is a Wings3D 1.2.rc3 Problem.
Import works fine on the stable 1.0.2 Wings3D

Umm is it just me, or is there no "attached file"? I'm not understanding what the first post is talking about on how to actually get the plug-in... Oo

I've tried installing the plugin as described, but it's not appearing in the Export menu like I expected. Any troubleshooting ideas?

.

you need to open the wings3d program files through the c:/ patch, then find the importer/exporter folder then put the slblablabla.beam (not exact name) into that folder, then it shall appear
