From: Yoki Enoch How many Lindens does it take to screw in a light bulb?
The best answer will get your account banned, but do ya still wanna try to answer? All of them- one to hold the lightbulb upside-down, and the rest to crash the grid. ^V^

I did a little checking...I buy full perm from a few creators for animations for my builds.
1. Sinamations no longer carries adult animations only cuddles 2. Abranamations are on an estate they will have to flag as adult 3. Bits and Bobs will have to flag also if they continue to sell adult animations 4. Essensual designers Unlimited will have to apply for the swap or stop selling adult animations. as well as their main store. 5. Xcite will have to flag Out of these 5 only one is eligible and has to move.....maybe there WILL be room for the swap! I wonder how many more will have to do the swap?

From: Tcko Cazalet Thanks for the info Talarus and I agree with all you say.....closing Xstreet acc...I'll just window shop then find who I want If there was another lower cost choice to Xstreet would you use that instead to sell your goods?

From: Valerius Constantine A Mitch Hedberg quote springs to mind
"I'd like to see a forklift lift a crate of Forks. That would just be so damn *literal*"
See, Mitch *actually* said that.
that's why I said it was a Mitch Hedberg *quote*.
Mark Kingdon has never said anything (to my knowledge) about merry-go-rounds, so the quotes around those words are what those of us in the writing game like to call "paraphrasing"- or "Condensing the meaning of a statement down it it's bare bones to convey its meaning in an ironic or humerous way".
which why I didn't say "Here's a true quote from the CEO of linden labs, and here the citation info. where you can find it for yourself". Which is pretty much hat everyone here does when they are quoting LL staff directly.
Again, just sayin'
^V^ If you are in the writing game, then you know that is a load. You put something in quotes, followed by the person's name. This is a clear indication of a quote. Something that is paraphrased should be clearly marked as such, which if you are in the writing game, you of course know. Telling the reader that we should assume quotations are paraphrased text unless you say they are actuals, will get you an failing grade in any sixth grade English Comp., class. Nice try though ... but in this case, you just made it up, and aren't tactful enough to admit it.

From: Talarus Luan I don't have a problem with them synchronizing their user database; it's fast becoming the same account anyway.
Except for the people who have different account names on XStreet for business reasons.

From: Valerius Constantine And if they don't *know* exactly what they want to do, they why are they *doing* it already with RC's and new server software and posted definitions in the KB that Blondin says are inaccurate?
You know it's possible to write code that can be used to implement a variety of policies, right? They don't have to know what the definition of "Adult" is going to be to add "Adult" as a rating level. Now if it were me I'd have implemented the client with a lot of hooks for scripting via the XML files and embedded scripts in the XML, so the whole "adult policy" could be implemented without changing a line of "C", and there would be no need to roll out a new client, but even with a more "hardcoded" client there's no reason to assume that they had to decide on the details of the policy before putting code to paper.

Blondin has explicitly said that you don't have to flag as adult to sell adult animations. I suspect that some of the other places you've listed will have to flag for other reasons, but a bunch of blue and pink balls isn't "adult content". They may choose to move to show up on search with explicit language in their search terms, but I suspect that people looking for adult animations will be searching for "adult animations" before long. These stores are big enough that they're more likely set up an adult-only subsidiary rather than make their main stores adult-only. The people who are most hurt by this policy aren't the big names, they're all the people in the demimonde who are AR-bait but won't be considered "critical" for Linden Labs.

You put something in quotes, followed by the person's name. This is a clear indication of a quote. ..or an indication of satire, if the context fits. From: someone Something that is paraphrased should be clearly marked as such, which if you are in the writing game, you of course know. Telling the reader that we should assume quotations are paraphrased text unless you say they are actuals, will get you an failing grade in any sixth grade English Comp., class. Agreed, but context does play a part in determinate usage of quotes. Barring any other obvious cues, stating that a quote is actually a paraphrase is a requirement, though it is usually a good idea anyway when debating important topics.

I think the surrounding text made it pretty clear that it was satire rather than a direct quotation. I also think that arguing about the nature of sarcasm, proper attribution, and the like is not advancing your point. I don't know whether he inadvertently trolled you or you trolled yourself, you're running way off topic here. While I don't necessarily agree with everything you say I think you have made much better arguments in support of it elsewhere.

3 things
05-09-2009 15:35
There are three things in life whether its here or RL that makes me see fire! 1. Trampling on my rights and tying to take my FREEDOM away 2. Threatning my family or friends 3. STEALING my hard earned money...which is what SL is trying to do by substituting a different product than what I paid for and am paying for at the present time.....FORCING me to accept it or telling me to hit the bricks with no compensation...same as grand theft! ok ...I vented for the day..carry on
