From: Lord Sullivan If you really don't like what LL is doing and it really upsets you like i see in the forums here, then just leave and save yourself some stress and high blood pressure and lets stop assuming that LL is not listening and wait to see what happens next Just my opinion I agree only in one aspect.....i think creating an account with payment on file should have been mandatory all along. For whatever reasons LL has a policy change and opened the floodgates allowing everyone to enter. Maybe LL wanted to show the outside world the growth of the platform and it's popularity.....who knows. You have a RL business which is kind of linked to what you're doing here on the SL platform......not everyone (in fact most) that own an SL business are not as fortunate to be in your position. You indicate in your last paragraph its about "choices".....maybe for many it's about "principles and beliefs"....and are not prepared to sell their soul to the devil that cheaply!

From: Lord Sullivan Or instead of complaining start putting up constructive help as i am sure it is being listened to and read, however whether or not its acted on thats a matter for LL to decide, the same LL that owns this game/platform/whatever. Remember that yes we put content into the world and yes to a degree it is shaped by us but its not RL so the same rules do not apply Shortsighted! Apart from the inital venture capital to kick start SL, how do you think LL managed growth to a point that it has or owns servers to house 25-30k worth of sims? Where do you think the funds came from? What do you think supports 300+ employees drawing a salary each and every month?

From: Shockwave Yareach The only certainty here is this - we've been given clear notice that the risque materials are no longer welcome where reporters can see them.
Correction. We've been given notice that risque materials are no longer welcome where non-age-verified reporters can see them. Age-verified reporters however will have such materials all concentrated in one location to make them *easier* to find.

From: Ginette Pinazzo But if even ONE BUSINESS is discriminated against in a supposedly 'Mature' area where imagination is given free (including sexual) expression, then EVERYONE should be worried. Well said! I totally agree!

I do support the adult continent, were I to open an adult business I'd absolutely want it on the adult continent. I also support a no adult content at all continent. In the middle we have existing mainland, if people can keep their adult business going there without using explicit advertising and terms in their parcel, it should stay there, there's a mature content flag already. The place to go if you want to use more explicit terminology should be the adult continent. That's a choice and those who don't want to see adult results in search shouldn't have their sensibilities offended if the search terms are not so explicit. People should be encouraged by the more liberal rules to move to the adult continent, they should not be forced there.

From: Neptune Shelman ......... LOL with your damn bots its not going to stay low for long, mind you, all the other relocated businesses will probably be filling the new adult sims with bots to, so you might not be able to get any real customers in the sims. Wrong answer.....Phil asked about PICKS! Picks effect "ALL Search" rankings....Bots effect "Places Search" rankings, the former being much harder to replace ....and could take months!

From: Matthew Dowd Your issue seems to be with shouters rather than adult content. If the shouters were advertising streaming movies about fast cars, horse racing, rifle shooting, stamp collecting etc. you would probably find the shouters just as annoying and wish LL would move or remove them.
This I believe is the main thing that LL has missed - it is anti-social and inconsiderate behaviour that people really want addressed. Not all adult content is anti-social and inconsiderate and not all anti-social and inconsiderate content is adult.
Matthew Yes I dislike all shouters and I dislike bot users, who clog up sims and inconsiderate behavior from neighbors, I don't give two hoots about adult content really. You are right not all adult content is anti social and inconsiderate and it is a shame those businesses will be affected also. Heres another example for you of inconsiderate, look in land seach for protected roadside land, and one parcel you will find near the top of land search is Eiras - Nieun - Road 1024sqm for 3725L. Try and TP there, I did and couldnot enter the sim, why you may ask? Well after sitting on the edge of the sim after navigating from map I located an area full of green dots, what do you think it was? An area of land 4256sqm with 46085 traffic named FREE SEX CLUB BORDEAUX. This is another reason why these places need to be moved to a adult continent so they cannot f**k up the surrounding sims while being filled with noobs. Something has to be done about clubs like that!

Cell phones costs about USD$40 and you have more rights than here. It is time that we are treated like serious customers HERE!

From: Phoenix Welles I have erotic art under this avvie, and a relatively new BDSM store under another... I don't think I'm safe. EDIT: and as somebody else pointed out so aptly earlier in this thread... how are they going to find those of us who need to move? Either we tell them or they land search. I'm just being clear that I'm fairly sure I'm affected. That was me. Notice once again ignored. ;-P One unexpected cool thing about this situation is we are finding some new friends. Maybe when they give us our eviction notice they'll stick us close together. Then you and I and Lord Sullivan and his group can have an Ursula warming party. lol

Probably meaning an increase in the number of bots on the grid in order to increase "Places Search" rankings to compensate for the loss of "All Search" rankings.

There are rules in place to deal with what is happening in Nieun, any popular attraction could cause the same problems, that is not an adult content issue, that's a popularity issue.

From: Kalderi Tomsen ...Could I respectfully suggest, therefore, that you come out with some sort of "here's where we are at" statement. This should reflect the current state of thinking with the AO project team and include decisions that are made, plus issues brought up by Forum members (or others) that you are discussing that are "open". It would also be very useful if you could give us a view of your future plans in terms of how this is going to go ahead, if at all. If you are going to continue with the AO initiative, what sort of timetable are we looking at? End of March? End of the Summer? Sometime this year? 2010?
...I think you would go a long way to easing some of the fears by putting out a very visible status report. I agree.

From: Neptune Shelman All of the residents paying tier not just 2-4% of very profitable sex business? First, sex businesses are a lot more than that 2-4% figure LL uses. Abut ten times more, by my, and others', casual surveys. Second, there is an even larger secondary impact. The majority of residents don't engage in cybersex daily. Maybe only rarely. Maybe not at all...but they still want their avatar to LOOK sexy. Even if you don't cyber, it's nice to be asked. And the fact that the possibility is there adds real spice to our virtual lives. The whole fashion industry, not just the explicit sex clothing and poseball industry, is going to feel this. When there's no reason to dress up your avatar prettily, who's going to want all those clothes? Who's going to want to do sexy dances, if there's no possibility of something after that? The people who think sex has no place in a virtual world have no understanding of human nature. A virtual world without sex isn't a "world" at all...it's just a 3D chatroom. That's why SL is so superior to efforts like IMVU.

Something has to be done about clubs like that! Then do something about traffic bots. You've made a logical fallacy here...traffic bots are not used exclusively by sex clubs. They're used by skin stores, furniture stores...anyplace that sells anything and wants to game the system to improve their traffic ranking.

Moving this club and making it someone else's problem will only ensure it is no longer your problem. Until... The free camping club opens up next door. Maybe camping should be defined as adult? =P

From: Neptune Shelman I know he asked about picks, but he also runs bots to up his places search rating as highlighted in other threads, it was an off topic statement thrown in you are right. I remember phil's question about bots, and having actually been to his store furniture shopping on several occasions... the only bots I have seen there are there for demo purposes like a lot of us legitimate business owners use for display purposes. Last time I was there he had a couple bots on a couch to display cuddle poses, not even anything naughty. And I use a single bot, when I remember to log her in, to show off my clothing so that my customers have a better way to look at it rather than JUST the promo. not ALL bots are necessarily for cheating the system. Granted they are often abused, and have a bad rep as such. And sometimes even the legitimate uses are overused, I've been in stores where there are more model bots than customers. But as in the rest of this conversation... it's the degree, the intent and other shades of gray.

And I will add one more specific example of fuel to a fire (sorry): As a sometimes Female Supremacist (the loving kind, believe me) and hard-working promoter of Femdom ideals, businesses and organisations, if it turns out something like the 'World Of Gor' is exempt from Adult Content reclassification and many femdom establishments are NOt exempt....I will start talking about old-fashioned sexism in a new light. Simply if an entire 'world' based on savage, barbaric practices towards Women is exempt, yet places of Femdom are 'targeted'.....this discussion's focus will be a lot more about discrimination than ever before. This is exactly why LL needs to handle this entire process with care. Adult content might be bad for PR, but discrimination would be worse.

2-4% of very profitable sex business? What about the surrporting Businesses that rely on the sex business. like clothing, furniture, skins, Hair, and so forth, Sure the streight outright sex business in SL is prolly only alil more then the 4% i would guess 8-10% but what about the other businesses that the sex business relies on? i would venture to guess thats about another 30% or more of all business in SL. relying on the Sex trade here, Where do we go? Stay in mature or adult sims where we can lose our adult customers, or move to the adult sims where we lose the everyday shoppers and browsers? its a no win sitsuation for those of use that rely on the sex trade here that are not directly involved in it and we number more then that 2-4% number sl is throwing out there

I don't understand why Islands and Estates have to flag the whole. Can you not honestly allow a partial flagging?
One of my galleries is on a private Mature island. Last night I went in and took down part of my build to prepare since I didn't see them being willing to flag the whole island. I met with the mayor of the island who let me know that they were preparing for the changes by giving those who may be impacted an opportunity to relocate to another part of the island they planned to flag as Adult so we could stay on the land we love. I will be relocating to this area in hopes that after all the feedback LL has recieved you all will reconsider allowing island and estates to only have to flag part of their land. If not, I'll adapt further by giving up that gallery or searching for an Adult island or estate for it since there won't be another choice. But why does it have to be that way?
I do not understand the tech issues. But, after following this it seems those who do understand the tech aspects feel that a partial flagging is in fact possible. Why can this not be done? It could at least lessen the impact this will have for many. People have chosen to invest in PRIVATE estates and island for a reason. Why is their control also being removed?

From: Ciaran Laval There are rules in place to deal with what is happening in Nieun, any popular attraction could cause the same problems, that is not an adult content issue, that's a popularity issue. I agree its a fundamental issue within all mainland sims, when you can only get 40 avatars in the sim, and something LL needs to look at further, but how long will that take for them to get round to? Sex clubs are going to be popular, who dislikes sex? But used in such a way as this place seems to be, they are basically greifing their neighbors. Same with the shouters, currently LL take for ever and a day to respond to most abuse reports of this nature, if at all. If the club was in a PG sim they would be out in seconds, once they have set up adult rated sims, they will respond faster on mature sims to, thats why I am all for seperation. I don't run a sex orientated business, so segregation will have a positive effect on my SL, I am happy to age verify, I already have as far as I know, I have payment details anyway and am happy to visit adult orientated areas. What have I got to loose by this? I know its a selfish attitude but thats my stand point. The people who have whole sims and run sex clubs responsibly unfortunately do get a rough deal, thats unfortunate but their business will pick up again if they stick around long enough. There should have been better segregation from the outset of SL, then this problem would not be rearing its ugly head now.
