It's not strange at all. That's what I love about fly fishing. You really have to learn to read the river and get in tune with what's going on in the ecosystem - what bugs live in the water, the time of year, what the fish are feeding on and where they are likely to be waiting. The rythym of the cast is almost zen-like.

1/4oz of primed C4 as you cast out .. thats zen like ..

Stupid fish come to you !

Oh wait.. this is SL !!

Crap !

Argh, I went over four hundred posts without contributing to this thread but this was just too good to pass up... on second thought, I'll bite my tongue... :)

Just to stay on topic...

- I agree with Nika.. for some reason I always do... she is the voice of reason around here (at least in my little head...)

- I think we all need to lighten up a little... obviously the Hangout is 'different' - I never saw an anal 'Don't post this here...' post generate more than few comments.

- I am confused, I thought it was Trout who was organizing the lynching party for Anne's dimwitted love interest... I was going to help by holding the poor bastard while Trout taught him a lesson or two.. now, come to find out that it was him HIM that let Anne slip through his fingers? Ok, I might have to organize the lesson myself...

.d

:D That's why I was irritated. I don't want people taking pictures when I'm standing there with my rod in my hand. It's rude of them.

And yes, I was surreptitiously organizing my own lynching party.

Took me a few double takes to realise he was talking about a "fishing " rod :p

Now that is funny. Poor Trout, standing there in the river with his rod in his hand, suddenly he is hit with waves of flashing light. Just when he realizes that the light is a camera, someone upstream sets off some c4.

I already IM'ed Chris...now to face the music!

Now I REALLY must go and hide in Claire's skybox... Later!

1) The Forum Cartel group now might be too large to send group IM's. I've noticed that issue crop up in larger groups (which may or may not go to that "oh, just send a Group IM and people might, just might, turn up).
2) I never knew how nice and relaxing it can be to just dance slowly while listening to calm quiet music ((while watching people seemingly flee in the opposite direction, though not leave the area completely)).
3) Remember to change back to "normal" before you start TPing around. When you are testing out options for an alt, yes it can be, at times, better to demo female hair in female shape and clothes, but it might be better to actually test in an alt. Otherwise you end up accidently bumping into people looking like a potential alt instead of yourself. It also helps if, at some point in the year I've been in SL, if I ever found "myself."

I'm rambling, I know. Sorry. Wasting time until lunch arrives. I shouldn't be doing that.

Funny how one person thought I was female from never seeing me in world and only knowing me from the forum, while another person assumed I was male. Of course the one that thought I was female saw me as me - in one of my male forms. The one that thought I was male saw me wandering around looking like a woman (it is an ice-breaker, I suppose "oh, excuse me while I hurriedly change shape, skin, clothing, hair so I do not look odd." Wait, it is odd to quickly change shape, etc. while still talking with someone, oops.).

Yes, I should just be a cat. :)

Oh, this rambling was supposed to be about the first point - the group IM problems might be due to the huge size of the group, an issue I have seen before.

No time to read all 400+ posts, so maybe this has been covered...

Claire, in order to give people at least SOME chance of guessing correctly, you should publish a list of who is actually at the party. Maybe some sort of sign in system? Or have people send you an IM or a note?

I mean, given a crowd of Ruths, what are the chances that one of them is, in fact, Oryx Tempel (who may not even be at the party, according to an early post in this thread)?

It's a case of cutting the odds from one in ten million to one in thirty or so.

I agree, although that's going to be a tough list to fill, seeing as how people will be coming and going. Claire is going to have a full time job of it. Is there a noteboard system where we could just have people sign in as they come? Although that would be pretty obvious. Altbot Recreant arrives and two seconds later "Trout Recreant" appears on the board. People are going to figure that one out pretty quickly. (And no, his real name is not Altbot Recreant, although that would be pretty funny). Maybe we could have the noteboard and activate it when it's time for the contest so everyone checks in at once and nobody knows who is whom.

RE: the C4 going off upstream. I usually fish in pretty rural areas of Washington State. C4 is WAY too sophisticated for the people I see on the river. Their meth labs blow up every once in a while, but that's about it. I half expect them to wade out in the river and grab at fish with their mouths like hungry bears when they go fishing, or maybe use their deer rifles. It gets scary out there sometimes.

even further like the new thread just started, advertising for some one else with a lame so called "RA posting excuse" so people can dump some ads in it

also the place gets filled with "Products Wanted" forum post for every one to dump a list in instead shuving it to where it belongs

i`ve reported a couple dozen threads allready, going back 20 pages just for fun, if they aren`t going to mod this place, they`ll get spammed with post reports like they have never been yet...

also there are more people in "our camp", but they`re afraid to get flamed to heaven and back

double standards...

I like that idea! Start reporting all these threads to get LL's attention... hhhmmm... what a excellent (and obvious) idea!

Ways in which the Hangout differs from your club:

*snip hair splitting*
.

Clearly you -

A. Have no idea about how my club runs or ANYTHING about me or my place

B. As Alica stated so clearly said you will dig to find any paper thin excuse to jusify these actions which CLEARLY are in violation of forum policies.

don`t bother strauss, they`re set to find what ever excuse they can find to justify advertising in RA then use the apropiate Events forums...

As tempting as that is, thats the easy way out and letting the ppl on the wrong side 'win'. Not my style. ;)

You and Alicia both have posted to this thread for the sole purpose of stirring up crap. If that is not trollish, then you are right, I don't know what is. If you didn't like it, fine don't open the thread, go start one of your own to bitch in.

I am going to be blunt. If you think this is nothing more then us trying to flame to start trouble then I would suggest you clearly do not have the intelect to see our argumant or engage in this debate. You may not agree with it (which is fine, but at least acknowledge our point), but its clear as day.

If all you think that all this is about is some crude attempt to start a flame war then I would say you sit back down, open your ears and shut your mouth and perhaps you'll learn something rather then rambling on spouting dribble.

My 2 coppers

@Straus: As far as I can read, the remark from Chris was towards Alicia, and I must say I cannot blame him... As for you, the more you post the more I get the impression your main reason for protest is because of your own club. And that's too bad, because you are probably more biased then Chris is... think about that :-)

@All against forum postings: How hard is it to see the Forum hangout is NO CLUB. It is an initiative from people IN this forum, for people IN this forum. So postings about events are posted IN this forum. Really, it is not that hard to understand.

Marcel[/QUOTE

This old argument again? *sigh*

I am going to get flammed for spamming or bragging but I nee dot make a point. My traffic Sat & Sun was ~15,000, do you really think I NEED any more? My castle is on the mainland, thus I am quite content with these numbers and this has NOTHING to do with getting even more. In fact if anyone has traffic envy I'd suggest its the other way around.

I love how our point is just being totally dismissed with any possible excuse you ppl can come up with. There HAS to be a hidden meaning behind the simple fact I want people to FOLLOW THE DAMN FORUM RULES. YOU people do NOT make the rules here, no matter how many times you say the hangout is speical or exempt does not make it true. Is isn't, period. The day LL adds such a exemption into the forum policies I will be happy to conced my points until then you folks are WRONG. Period.

And all the flaming to Alicia, myself (and others who agree with us) or trying to twist the topic isn't going to change that fact. This advert does NOT belong here. Simple as that.
