I am going to be blunt. If you think this is nothing more then us trying to flame to start trouble then I would suggest you clearly do not have the intelect to see our argumant or engage in this debate. You may not agree with it (which is fine, but at least acknowledge our point), but its clear as day.

If all you think that all this is about is some crude attempt to start a flame war then I would say you sit back down, open your ears and shut your mouth and perhaps you'll learn something rather then rambling on spouting dribble.

My 2 coppers

I have seen your type before, a gutless internet tough guy. Welcome to my ignore list. If I keep reading your crap, I will say some things I might regret.

Maybe we should ALL put him on our ignore list! We are a clique after all... (according to some folks who don't know us very well!)

Claire, in order to give people at least SOME chance of guessing correctly, you should publish a list of who is actually at the party. Maybe some sort of sign in system? Or have people send you an IM or a note?

Or post in the CORRECT forum...

SOP for you people in the hangout when someone does not agree or part of your clique it seems. Predictable.

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

No one else here. Do not be deceived by the moving curtain. There is no one behind the curtain. You are all alone. Except for Chris, Graph, and Ann. Otherwise all alone in a dark room. Wait, ok that doesn't work, you are with a growing crowd. Um. Ok, back to "no one else here . . um . . boo."

Betcha Strauss lies awake at night like a kid the night before Christmas, thinking up new ways of saying the same thing.

How come those who complain the most about wrong forums are those who have a whole pile of advertising in their sigs? Huh? Answer me THAT!!

B. As Alica stated so clearly said you will dig to find any paper thin excuse to jusify these actions which CLEARLY are in violation of forum policies.
Well Strauss, I think we're just going to have to agree to disagree.

I do ask you to believe that folks created the Hangout in a sincere attempt to improve forumites SL experience, and I think the many posts enthusiastically embracing its existence prove that goal has been accomplished. And yes, I'm sure that all successful clubs also have people who love them :)

I don't know why you can't see that this one is different simply because it is was created by and for forum participants, but I do respect your right to hold that opinion!

Take care.

...my point is.... this should actually have been put in the events section, just like any other event.
just because it is for the forum cartel doesn't mean it has any more right to be posted here as it does anywhere else.

If ppl on the forums want to know about events for the cartel badly enough, they will either join the group, or they will go to the hangout and look for notices there.

Nobody in their right mind reads Events.

From: Rhaorth Antonelli
why should those of us who are not interested in going, be subjected to the thread, anymore than folks who would not be interested in going to xyz event be subjected to that thread.

You don't have to be subjected to it. Don't read it.

From: Rhaorth Antonelli
with the argument of "it is for all the ppl who post on the forums" then anyone can come here, post an event and say it is for all the forum folks.... right?

if we are going to try to self moderate, then please make it so everyone self moderates

When Strife was moderating this forum, he allowed announcements of Forum Hangout events. We're just following precedent.

From: Rhaorth Antonelli
for example, I have the arcade, it has been mentioned a couple times by a forum regular, if I decided to have a party there, and call it an event, and post it here to the forums, and say it is a party for all the forum folks, would that be acceptable?

No. But apparently, you CAN post a notice in world to the Forum Cartel group. I've seen lots of Cartel members' events, sales, etc. show up there.

From: Rhaorth Antonell
I guess this behavior has been bugging me lately too, just did not realize how much till I saw just how this thread was so totally accepted just because it is for all the folks on the forum.... (when we all know it is for those who regularly go there)

No it's not. The Forum Cartel is open enrollment. You don't even have to be a group member to come to the Hangout and join in the fun. The events are for ANYONE, not some imagined "clique".

From: Rhaorth Antonelli
I wonder how many others feel the same way I do and are afraid to speak up, for fear of being attacked or flamed from all sides....

I hope you don't see this as an attack, Rha. I don't want to attack you (or that grouch, Strauss, either). But I do most strongly disagree with you both.

Resident Answers and the regulars who hang out in it constitute a resource. The forum provides help with all sorts of questions. It's a free community service, and all of the participants are volunteers.

The Forum Cartel is the in-world version of the forum regulars. Like RA itself, anyone's free to join.

Both in the forum and in world, the forum regulars enjoy getting together and having fun. I see absolutely no harm, and quite a lot of good, in posting news of Cartel events here in RA. It spreads the news about fun things happening, gives everyone a chance to have input into the planning process, and promotes a sense of continuity and community that bridges the gap between the RA forum and the Hangout and Cartel group in world.

I never thought I'd see you taking sides with Strauss, who's only ticked off because he'd like to advertise his own club's events here, and wants to equate his club with the Hangout. The two are nothing alike in purpose, and his arguments to the contrary are disingenuous.

Is it you against the world in RL too? I mean I saw a few posts early in this thread and a couple other ones where you and Alicia say you don't care...........if you don't care then why are you still posting? You guys have said how you feel, we know and understand your opinions, let it go already!

ok either I am losing my mind, or someone did some quick editing
I could have sworn I just read a post quoting a lot of my stuff, but now that I am about to reply to it, it is gone....

*shrug*
we all have our opinions
what is wrong with stating our opinion that we feel this thread doesn't belong in RA

and to whom wrote the long now gone post... if you noticed I was the first to mention it this thread did not belong here, I am not "siding" with anyone

I merely stated something that has been bothering me
(and apparently others too, but some are too afraid of flames to post, but I have been told that I am not alone)

*shrug*

as for imaginary clique.... sorry to burst your bubble but there is a clique... and it is not imaginary

except, as an adult, I tend to consider it a close knit group of friends.... (clique basically the same thing)

You see...right or wrong, I am siding with Claire...you DO see that don't you?
She is my SL soul mate, I hope that makes it clear...Claire may be sweet, soft-spoken, and kind, but I am all piss and vinegar when pushed into a corner... Again, right or wrong, I am prepared to live with the decision I have made...

BTW Rhaorth... I did not put YOU on my ignore list, I STILL consider you my friend, but I will not stand by and 'shrug', while my lover gets systematically shredded and disassembled.

Good for you LIL, and I am sure there are those men in your life...I was making a joke there about Desri! besides, Desri will always remain a SL virgin! Graph on the other hand, far be it for him to boast of SL virginity!

I am not going to use Desri as my alt at the alt party...

I am not shredding claire

just because she is the one to place the thread doesn't mean I am upset with her

it is the general acceptance of the thread that bothers me
how a lot do not seem to understand that technically it is against the forum guidelines, especially in resident answers...

I understand you standing by claire, I would do the same if I were in your shoes
I appreciate you not ignoring me, however I still stand by my opinion
the thread should not have been posted, in this part of the forums
(do I hate the op for it? hell no!)

anywho I guess I made my point, but it seems that a lot of folks do not wish to make themselves seen in agreeing with me.

(and yes I can understand why, after seeing the reactions here concerning this whole thing)

Rhaorth, I wasn't referring to you, and as you can see I actually can read your post, I did not place you on my ignore list. I am to the point where I feel the negative banter in this thread has run its course, and I chose to ignore it, MY MIND IS MADE UP, and I am a stubborn cuss...'nuff said' in other words...Peace!

It's not strange at all. That's what I love about fly fishing. You really have to learn to read the river and get in tune with what's going on in the ecosystem - what bugs live in the water, the time of year, what the fish are feeding on and where they are likely to be waiting. The rythym of the cast is almost zen-like

Ohh that sounds like far too much work to me. I just throw a worm or some eggs on the hook and hit it with a shot of WD-40. Sit back in my chair relax and wait for the day to end. I don't really care if I catch a fish or not. Just being there with nature is what is important to me.

It's not. It's certainly more active, but it's like riding a bike. It's not like you have to constantly think about adjusting your balance, remembering how to turn, concentrating on shifting, etc. It just becomes second nature. It makes you think about things other than the stress of life, so I find it very relaxing.

I'm thinking of starting a virtual online world called "Second Nature". No camping or ad-farms, stipend=3xmembership fees, stable grid, building is much more intuitive, etc. You have to be a furry, though, and every Thursday is "Collar a Newb" day. Hawaiian shirts are mandatory, and anyon caught dancing will be sent to that town in Footloose.

That sounds a lot better than sitting in a boat in the middle of the lake freezing cold, catching kokanee and a cold!
