Ive already thought of the 100s of double entendres using "trout" references...They would only get me in more trouble. ;)

Lana
Cod fish comes to mind, Codpiece as well... even mullet.

One of my first memories as a little girl was sitting on the bank of a river in the blueridge fishing for trout. The Lake we live on has alot of small mouth bass and the occasional monster catfish.I haven't been fishing in ages..but it was a huge part of my childhood. :)

Daddy actually gave me a bamboo fishing pole((sure wish i had kept that)) ;)

Well, there you go, Claire. I think I should teach you to stalk trout, and then you can stalk Lana and have something to talk to her about.

Lana - I have very similar memories of my dad and I chasing trout in the Sierras where I grew up. Now that he's passed away, I have all his old fly rods, and every time I take one out, it's like he's there with me.

I know this sounds strange..but...I've always thought fly fishing must be the most...i don't know..fun..intune with nature.((definitely much bettwer than just sitting in a boat watching the fog roll off the water)) I watched a movie once about it and how the fisherman gets a rythm going with the "fly" buzzing around him just over the water. I can definitely see "art" in that. Bet its hard as heck to get it right.

Movie about Fly Fishing...
02-25-2008 16:38
Oh Lana, I think the movie you're referring to is "A River Runs Through It". One of my favorite movies and ending with that lovely quote from "Ode on Intimations of Immortality" by Wordsworth.

I love the brooks which down their channels fret
Even more than when I tripp'd lightly as they;
The innocent brightness of a new-born day
Is lovely yet;
The clouds that gather round the setting sun
Do take a sober colouring from an eye
That hath kept watch o'er man's mortality;
Another race hath been, and other palms are won.
Thanks to the human heart by which we live,
Thanks to its tenderness, its joys, and fears,
To me the meanest flower that blows can give
Thoughts that do often lie too deep for tears.

/me peeks shyly out of my lurker's burrow, quickly tosses my comment into the fray, turns and scurries back into my warm hideout.

Some of my fondest childhood memories as well. Both of my parents were big on fishing. Been doing it since I could hold a pole in my hand! In regards to you post on fly fishing, I finally had my brother teach me a few years ago and it's loads of fun! Relaxing!

It's not strange at all. That's what I love about fly fishing. You really have to learn to read the river and get in tune with what's going on in the ecosystem - what bugs live in the water, the time of year, what the fish are feeding on and where they are likely to be waiting. The rythym of the cast is almost zen-like.

It's really not difficult, though. I've had people doing it acceptably in around half an hour. Doing it really, really well takes years, but doing it well enough to have fun and catch fish is pretty easy. Even then, disasters happen. My favorite photo is of me, standing in a river (the Elochoman) with my rod in one hand, an irritated look on my face, looking straight up into the maple tree over my head, and you can see the bright yellow fly-line going from my rod tip to a branch about 30 feet up in the tree. I still don't know how I managed to get it up there. That one just got away from me. I still laugh about the fact that my buddy didn't even think about helping me get my line out of the tree - he just laughed hysterically and went for his camera.

I knew you were speaking to the other person
it was the approach that seemed harsh

you are telling ppl that they are the problem in the same breath as telling them everyone there is nice LOL
(sorry just struck me as a bit contrdictory)

and I too have been in a very pissy mood, so take what I say with a grain of salt

(My pc is dead, using laptop, allll my files for the clothing, skins etc are on my pc, which... is dead)

grrr

*maybe I should just sit on my hands, or go back to reading my book, before I say something to offend those I like*

well, i'm not there, i'm here. not the same thing. i have never ignored or been rude to anyone there. here, i have much less tolerance because here is where the whining occurs. maybe they should say something while there. just a thought.

and yeah. my approach is harsh. but in effort to help, not harm.

edited to add: any psychologist/psychiatrist will tell the person who thinks it's everyone but them that it's probably not everyone else. i happen to agree.

Argh, I went over four hundred posts without contributing to this thread but this was just too good to pass up... on second thought, I'll bite my tongue... :)

Just to stay on topic...

- I agree with Nika.. for some reason I always do... she is the voice of reason around here (at least in my little head...)

- I think we all need to lighten up a little... obviously the Hangout is 'different' - I never saw an anal 'Don't post this here...' post generate more than few comments.

- I am confused, I thought it was Trout who was organizing the lynching party for Anne's dimwitted love interest... I was going to help by holding the poor bastard while Trout taught him a lesson or two.. now, come to find out that it was him HIM that let Anne slip through his fingers? Ok, I might have to organize the lesson myself...

Yep...I was not flaming or ripping anyone by name, it's not my style. But that kind of comment 3Ring...*shakes head and walks away*

i hope, too, you gave some thought to my words. i'm not flaming or ripping, i'm being real. it can't be everyone else who is the problem. how does that make sense?

Desri Dreamscape... every man's desire. She is sensuous and sexy...but alas she will always remain a virgin. She is the envy of every gal out there. Norma Jean wished she looked like Desri.
I think I will retire her guys... (After the ALT party)

love ya Graph. but it's not all about looks that makes a woman attractive. :p

My pleasure... :D

I just want you to know that I showed great restraint earlier. Soji's complaint about attractive women asking him to eat something... ahhh, a squirrel was it? - was difficult to pass up.. but then again, it might have been in bad taste, but then again a lot of this thread is.. :)
