:) Sounds intriguing. Of course I'll now mention how this suddenly brought up the movie Shaun of the Dead in my mind. I think that specifically called to mind that scene where the unaltered pretended to be zombies to not be eaten and were awkwardly shuffling around and mumbling. ((The "of course" part comes from the oddness of suddenly bringing up zombies, especially since it is the only zombie movie I've seen, I think.))

Rhaorth, I have to admit that I felt like that after my first two visits. Everyone said hi and then clammed up, and I am shy, so I didn't want to butt-in to the conversations. I went to the Valentine's party at the clubhouse - was totally shy - except I actually worked up the nerve to ask Claire to dance - but did talk a little to her and Isabeau. Last weekend though, I stopped by there and saw Stormy, Soji, and another guy whose name I've forgotten. Stormy teased me and made fun of me; Soji and I talked about some stuff - until he changed into a cat avatar, and I had a great time. Point is, that I had to speak up to get the ball rolling. I think it really depends on who is there at the time, and how talkative I'm willing to be.




James, I thought you were a regular, LOL. It was my 1st visit (Valentines Party) so I hardly spoke - just came by to see what the fuss was about. James was kind enough to 'show' me how to dace, and I certainly felt welcome. I even tangoed with a dolphin (Snowman). I wasn't expecting anyone to 'include' me - wasn't expecting anything, really. Maybe that's why I had fun.
I was kind of quiet but, I'm sure the more I drop by, the more I'll say.

Ann, has a point. Shyness is often taken for snobbyness...
Roaming the grid on my own is what I usually do. I belong to a few very fun groups and do participate to many of their events but, roaming alone is usual for me.

I've been wandering around the forum hangout from the beginning, but for the longest time the closest I got to the inside was placing my helicopter on the roof (and no I am not Brenda, a different helicopter). Eventually worked up the nerve to go inside and mingle. Spent the entire New Years Eve party sitting and mumbling to myself (actually sitting and taking pictures). Eventually went bull-riding and parachuting - would have preferred to stay but the pressure does build.

Next party I actually danced with someone (actually two someones). Of course one asked me, and the other was shocked and horrified to see me bouncing around near them. I did eventually ask, and I quickly went from my 0-0 record since March of 2007 to a 0-5 ask and denied in attempting to ask people to dance.

Plus, with Trout ignoring your requests; "Once bitten, twice shy", you know?

I feel that way lately...not quite feeling like the Chatty Cathy I was a while back - tend to be in my own lair more often than not these days. /me sighs deeply

I tend to be pretty much on the shy side in RL too and have had people use that term for me as well. I think I'm an "introverted extrovert" or "extroverted introvert". Take your pick :) And nobody believes me when I tell them that. Guess I have everyone fooled which only shows how pushing yourself really can work.
