True. Very true. Unfortunately, the alternative - life without government - is not particularly attractive either.
But life with much much less government could be lots better -- it has gotten way out of hand over the last 60 years or so.

Hey, none of it really matters anyways. After all, the Illuminati are going to create a One World Government controlled by Big Brother, which will lead to the end of the world in 2012.

Why is it always one extreme or the other? Political idealogues are so binary in their thinking. Left or right? Democrat or Republican. Black or White? Cake or Pie?

I am not advocating total non governance in our society. We aren't capable of that, it is a Hippy Utopian ideal I don't believe in. But an effective government can be smaller, decentarlized, less intrusive and much more efficient than the wasteful cesspool we have now. And I think a lot of it's work can be done better by the private sector, with proper oversight. But instead we get.."Well, private enterprise can't be trusted, or the government can't oversee it properly, so let's just continue wasting resources on a hopelessly broken system." it is a self perpetuating pit of fiscal and social quicksand.

Getting back to Credit Cards..there may be something about having yours associated with LL. They don't have the best of reputations in some circles. I read an article recently about how banks are paying close attention to where you use your card and jacking up rates accordingly. Using it for paying traffic tickets and marriage counseling/lawyers is an obvious red flag, but they listed things such as large car repair bills, gambling expenses, alcohol and adult entertainment charges also as red flags. I don't use credit cards any more myself, but when I did, I used it for most of those things at one time or the other...save for the marriage counseling.

Yes, but our government did not gain all of its size and power through some power-grab. It was handed to them by us, the people that put them there and gave them that power. The problem is, the average American simply cannot be bothered to do anything about it except to complain, and occasionally hold his or her hand out when the government promises cash refunds or bailouts in exchange for more power.

It's what governments do. Even the prettiest flower garden in the world can turn downright ugly if left untended. We have left our government untended for far too long, accepting rumors and CNN soundbites as fact and unbiased news. The only thing truly wrong with this garden is its gardeners.

Fmr. President G. W. Bush has done the public a *huge* service in one capacity: Opening the eyes of the American voting public to the folly of showing up at the polls uncaring and ill-informed.

I can't say I agree with your last point. No one's eyes were opened in my opinion, voters aren't any more educated or concerned, Many of the same liars and thieves are still there, some have just moved to a nicer office. They aren't any better or different from their pedecessors.

Otherwise your post is a good one.

All the more reason to use a PayPal account with LL and fund that with a checking account.

I would like to thank SL for destroying my experience on SL. Now that I have to be validated I can no longer go to most of the places I used to. I'm never going to validate. I will be gone before I ever do that. Its none of your business. Report that back to your buddies at the NSA.

Ah, I see your problem. Those are snakepits of the leftist, ultraliberal, collectivist intelligentsia. Your goal should be to get your ticket punched and learn as much as you can while avoiding indoctrination. Think of yourself as a spy in enemy territory.

Not an easy task. You'd be a lot better off at one of the military academies.

Yes.....clearing my head of the bullshit doled out by professers was a full time job in and of itself...usually accomplished at the pub.

Or as Frank Zappa said..."If you want to get laid, go to college. If you want to get an education, go to a library"

*The pub was on the way to the library, in my case.

And if the vaccine is so safe, why was Big Pharma given total legal immunity from any damage their drug may cause?

THANK YOU we have a winnah. Ding ding ding!

No one's injecting me with something that's been tested a whole of three weeks before being released to market. People should research how many drugs have been pulled off the market for maiming and killing people after being okayed by the FDA. If that doesn't give people cause for concern, keep reading about big pharma's history. Google Bayer + AIDS for one thing. News footage is available online for that, too.

I've spoken with people whose job it was to falsify post market data on drugs. Drugs typically only get pulled when people collapse and die after taking them. But they can & have done a lot else. How about Boniva + jaw dropping off for another one. That's Big Pharma's track record only in part.

Once the wool was yanked from my eyes it was gone in a big way.

In many ways, Government are the greatest fear mongers.

I'll have to disagree here.

Look at how much suspicion and fear this thread generated.

And "the government" wasn't even involved.

How can that be?

I nearly died of shock when I saw a thread actually thanking LL for something. And then I read the first post and realized it is all a ruse.
