I'm not getting mail from AARP yet

From: Kenbro Utu
Just wait, they will have you scared to check the mailbox before long...

I got something from AARP when I was in my twenties. I was confused. Looked closer. Yes, my name right there.

Everything after that was addressed to my parents. I think they got confused (name, address, etc).

Then again I also get Christmas cards for someone with my exact name. I've never heard of these people. Information in the cards indicate they think I am someone else.

Oh, and I get e-mail all the time at work for someone else with my name. I sometimes get e-mails many pay grades above my own.

I just realized that for most of the people on my SL friends list, I don't even know how old they are. I never ask. I can guess based on the conversations and experienes they've mentioned, but that's about it.

I still don't know. Haven't clicked on any of the numbers to see the names.
From: LittleMe Jewell
Yep - I have not a clue how old most of my Friends are either. I know a few, only because it came about in natural conversation, but the vast majority I can only guess at.

I am not a good guesser at ages. Sometimes wonder what age people think I am, though. heh.

I'm a really really old kitty. Um, if my age was age of kitty. I think I'm 244 in kitty years. um, me vampire kitty . . demon kitty? me dead long time

Above average, except for my mathematical skills. The other day, I realised I'm 51 not 52.

I've done that. um, not thought I was 52, just thought I was older than I am.

I've just now forgotten how old I am. Then again I'm currently floating on medication.

If you're going to lie about your age, go in the right direction!

Woman is 40, says she's 32 (thoughts: Wow she looks pretty beat up for her age)

Woman is 42, says she's 50 (thoughts: WOWIE She looks great for her age!)

I always just say how old I am if asked, anyway. I could care less what the reactions are, though sometimes they're pretty entertaining!
My thoughts exactly. My mother-in-law is embarrassed about her age I think it might have started because she's a couple of years older than my father-in-law. But all I could think think when I first met her was "wow! she's amazingly young and pretty!" And she still is - even though her kids are in their 60's now.

I notice that I'm 15 minutes away from being allowed to swallow the flavor-not-specified liquid floating making stuff.

Plenty of people liek that - they pretend youth but secretly are seething casseroles of stewed prejudice and impotence.

Ditto. School's out? Yay, I get to go home and turn it on.

Remember when Fast Load came out and now you just hit shift-Run/Stop to start up anything, even if it started with LOAD "*",8 then RUN instead because it was at least partly BASIC?

As a corollary to that, I remember one night I was playing Racing Destruction Set, when Dad came home and wanted to know who'd been on the phone for hours. Turned out the program for some reason took the modem off the hook (300 baud, yippee) and it'd been off the hook for hours. Lovely.

OMG! YES! I still have the Fast Load cartridge!

I lost count of the hours playing Racing Destruction Set. Especially a track with the gravity of the Moon! :D

I put my RL age in the 1st life section of my profile. If anyone has a problem with it, that's their problem not mine. I'm minding my business doing my thing. Anyone who gives me any grief over my age is instantly muted. I've got better things to do with my time than have pointless arguments with ageist nincompoops.

Now you just keep your impotent stewed prejudice to yourself young lady. Why...when I was your age nothing but potent stew would do. No siree. Youngins today don't know how good they have it. Close minded you say. Darned tootin'! Don't open the door unless it someone worth talkin' to I say. All these open breezy new-fangled ideas the youth of today run around with...*shakes his grizzled muzzle, scarred ears wilting*

*blinks* Oh..there I go again...taht suit ya, Jig? :D

Very Dorothy Parker :)

Or just raised differently. Never to ask and never to tell. "What do you do" is another big no-no question where I'm from.

People reading "shame" into (any of) it are applying their personal values where it doesn't apply.

Pllleeeaaassseee send some of those meds over to me.

/temporary derail on

I'm pulling my hair out trying to make my final Gimp project for class: A business shirt with placket, collar, buttons down the front, cuffs with buttons...all on different layers. THEN another shirt photosourced and a THIRD photosourced but touched up in Gimp.

I managed to get the base shirt made but have this funky black part showing at the top.

Anyone good with Gimp that can explain things linearly...anyone...please?

/derail off :o

Reminds me of when my mother and step-father met. Although they were in their late 30's at the time, they each (unbeknownst by the other) aged down a few years.

When they got married...they put those (false) ages down and it wasn't until years later (they've now been married about 35 years) they "fessed up" to each other. (They're only 2 years apart in age, my step-father the older.)

When my mother was telling this story to me, I was pondering if they're even legally married. lol

My favorite movie back in the day was "War Games." I was in awe of a computer with some kind of voice thingy that could talk. That was just creepy.
