I am talking about the meaning not the spelling.
The "n" changes the meaning. (^_^)y

The Urban Dictionary says that synchophant is a misspelling of the word "sycophant" used by ignorant ghetto people and neocon morons.

Meh... Whatever word eventually results in recursive, redundant, and repetitive crowds. I'll play dictionary games later. (^_^)

Here's the fun part... I didn't exactly look at the poll results, but, there IS a chance that we're in the same age group, have the same interests, and who knows? ... I may live a mile or two away from you. We somewhat speak the same language. But, by all means, I doubt we'd get along well if we were to hang out somewhere. (^_^)

At the same time... My much older friends have a much thicker skin and don't mis-construe my self-constructed examples as critiques on their character or statements. Sure... I got that combative streak and I somewhat understand your reaction... But, I was hardly intending on being critical of you simply by making examples of my own desires and experience. (^_^)y

I am sure we wouldnt get on. I tend to hang with people that dont use words they dont understand just to sound grown up whatever their real age is.

40 today

ack

But apparently I am in the largest ratio of users according to this poll...

Young people by and large ( teens to 20s ) are ( and should be ) having a "real life" out clubbing and pubbing.. just as I was in my 20s.

30 - 40 most people are married or in a domestic relationship so this is why I think the 30 something group is the biggest ratio for SL.

Its been kind of known for some time that the 30 something age group were the biggest users I think

I also take exception to you suggesting that there is anything sycophantic about people of the same age culture etc talking to each other.
That isn't how I interpreted what she said. Knowing her a bit, I can assure you it isn't how she is.

Maybe you dont spend enough time looking in a dictionary before you write.
sycophant – noun - a self-seeking, servile flatterer; fawning parasite

Used correctly in context. I don't care for gatherings of sycophants either.

Was there some other word she misused?

Personally, IMHO people who don't spell perfectly ALL the time shouldn't bother calling out other people on their spelling mistakes. Plenty to go around by everyone now and then, including Mr. Ansar as I've discovered. This is a forum, not a writing class. As long as someone is writing complete sentences and has clear thoughts we all know what they are talking about and certainly Immy is one of the smartest cookies around here.

Oh and BTW, I see he's in the same age group according to the poll so I guess he's "geriatric" too, as he gleefully called me a week or so ago, without even knowing as much.

People in glass houses...well, you all know the rest of that quote.

I don't care for the implication that you seem now to be agreeing with that gatherings of people using the same language with mutual cultural histories of similar levels of intellect are gatherings of fawning parasites. Which is why I protested and will continue to. Just because you claim to know her a bit doesnt mean you can speak for her or her motivations or her errors. Why do you feel the need to.

You are showing your inability to understand my posts again Elora. I was criticising her use of the word because of its meaning not its spelling so if you think she is one of the smartest cookies here I feel sorry for your judgment. She was the one who decided she spelled it wrong and was wrong anyway. As for geriatric why dont you check again. I never called you that. Maybe you need better reading glasses.

45, with the mentality (most days) of a 13 year old, so I average down to 29.

Giving my age never bothered me and I don't imagine it ever will. You're as young as the person you're feeling... or something ...

*looks up* Dare I say: Act your age?

Wah... Well... From the point you were originally trying to express you seem to like to gather around like-minded people to avoid confusion and disagreement. From your stream of responses so far, I can see why. (^_^)

Enjoy your friends as you have them. I'll do mine as well. (^_^)y

Again you have got it wrong. Not like-minded and not to avoid disagreement. People that are sufficiently similar that it enhances communication and understanding even if we dont agree. Which is why I avoid people with what appears to be your attitude of finding misunderstanding amusing as you said earlier.

But not necessarily good ones.

This is why our memories fade with age - who really wants to remember that stuff?

Oh very good memories.

So good that a few years ago I spent a significant amount of time porting an open source emulator of that system to run on my Palm, and on a PSP. :D

Ultima I-IV on the PSP...in 8 bit graphics. *blinks* Yup...I did that.

Not amusing, but, not troubling either. Surely, not a situation I would avoid, considering I'm still here. I'd say... Engaging. Might I point out, you're doing a bad job of avoiding me, if that seems to be your desire. Heh.... Darn my combative streak. (^_^)y
