I'm a good mix of English, Irish and Scots in truth - that's why Deira is Welsh - to give ballance.

I bet your another teacher aren't you? (see my most recent thread) but I must say you sound less of an anaconda than ol'Pep. I like doggeral. I also like catterwaul. (oooo Jiggy, good one!)

Do you really like T.S.Eliot? - "We shall not cease from exploration / and the end of all our exploring / will be to arrive at where we started / and know the place for the first time"
I was SERIOUSLY gonna get that tattooed on my arm. But decided to have "the fire and the rose are one" instead.
And get back to class, lady, and show them a film this afternoon.

The OP has already been informed what Pep means, so I'll skip that part. But, I will say what Pserendipity Daniels means to me. Warning, some of the forumites will not like my opinion. *wink*

Pep makes me think. He makes me read his posts more than once. But, most of all, he makes me laugh. I too think he means no malice, anyone who has taken the time to talk to him in world (alas, we only met once) would realise this. Things get blown out of proportion here, people are quick to judge, quick to react, slow to think.

I wouldn't say he's infallible (in fact, he's quite the typo king in world I've noticed hehe). But, more often than not, if you look at what he posts with an open mind you'll find another meaning. Something beyond the sarcasm and cynicism.

/me shrugs. "But to each their own. It takes little effort to let something that irks you go unheeded. It takes a lot of spite and anger to lash out at something that is nonsensical to you. Seems like a lot of wasted effort to me."

*HUGS* Pep

The meaning of “Pep” is a difficult matter,
It isn’t just one of your forum themes.
You may think at first I’m as mad as a hatter,
When I tell you that “Pep” must have three different memes.

First of all there’s the meme of the signature format,
With parenthesised comment, addendum and quips.
Then there’s the rigorous spelling and grammar,
Optimistically hoping this meme will transmit.

Last of all is the meme of the known personality,
Challenging, knowledgeable, pointed and sharp.
“Sit up! Pay attention! Yes - you at the back there!”
I’m Pep and no other – and I’ll leave my mark!

Deira (Pep is welcome to respond - but only in doggerel verse.)

Deira, I wouldn't dream of attempting to top your wit and literacy, but will simply offer a round of applause and appreciation.

Pep (I actually tend towards limericks on bad days and sonnets on good ones.)

Ok - I'll come clean - I did tutor UK Open University students for a period of time on their old Software Enginering Course. However, that is as close as I ever came to being a teacher.

I can't type and my spelling has always been very poor - but I do try and post in correct English because there are many forum users for whom English is a second (or third) language. I find it hard though, and I'm very slow and often make corrections - I speak colloquial English and I would naturally " rite like wot I talks".

Did you know that a few years ago one of the top-selling perfume manufacturers commissioned a marketing study to determine what fragrance men were most attracted by? And having spent a fortune on it they unsurprisingly dismissed the conclusion of the study as useless for their purpose.

I never got much in way of GCEs so I went straight to my career (it's in expressive arts so it's good and I love it). You actually sound like you may have been fun as a teacher. I was dreadful with computer class coz I didnt pay attention. It's still "all Greek to me" (see "Julius Caesar" - I love Shakespeare) I know Pep doesnt really mean harm but he is as much fun to tease as "he" was when "he" taught me. I am sure that poor man who was our teacher must have been horribly frustrated. We were very spoiled and annoying - I know this coz I am still spoiled and annoying! LOL!

I really think this should end now. It's school humour at best and although this person can annoy many of us - he is probably unemployed and a bit angry with world - this is a mild form of bear-baiting and persecution-humour.
We type - he replies - we rise to the bait.
He is a major reason for many leaving this forum since he can be hurtful. Many of us are not used to back-stabbing and sarcasm/cynicism that a forum like this appears to expect.
Let's have good humour, funny things said, and some neat discussions. This type of place can be so much more. We've all been guilty of this kinda thing. Let's see what we can do to change it.

Some folks actually enjoy a bit of back-biting sarcasm; a little smile with with my morning coffee.

I wear "Jicky", "L'Heure Bleu" or "Shalimar" depending on my mood. And they are definitely NOT sweetshop.

As long as the sarcasm isn't aimed at you? But, seriously, is this really "sarcasm"? It's a mean form of humour at best of times and, rather, a base layer for more elegant wit.

Wow! I wish I'd said that. Although I would argue that sometimes peoples' lives have to get a little bit worse first, before the enlightenment kicks in. That's a judgment call, and sometimes it doesn't happen, which I do regret. :(

Pep (No, Strife is *not* my alt! :D )

PS Watch out Strife, Jig's after your old job.

The glow from the burning city of illusions can be quite enlightening... for those managed to make it out.

People rarely change without an outside influence and they rarely look for enlightenment if everything is going well. Sometimes it takes a grim reality to wake them from their stupor and see reality for what it is.

On these points we agree (I'm in a metaphor mood).

This is Plato's Cave brought to life. The actors where in do not have enjoyable parts to play.

PS Seriously, I would recommend it to semi-literates and those with English as a poor second language who would get even more confused than if they had not visited the forum at all. ;)

The forums here enlightened me more than that they confused me. I found tons of answers in here that helped me a lot.

Too bad yours were only about stupid spelling of a language that isn't even 1st language for most people on here lmao.

What does Pep mean in my oppinion?

Annoying spamming check control that punish you rather than correct you in a decent way.

Once again you have not understood what I said. I commended a previous poster for putting *me* on 'ignore' since his apparent (lack of) command of the English language would patently obviously have meant that he would have been confused by my posts, as they would have been too sophisticated for him (?) to comprehend without significant additional recourse to translation resources. You fall into the same category.
