Since when has that EVER stopped you from "educating" the "dumb" in forums?

I'm not dumb,I just don't give a shit.

It is no less innocent a typo than your "Conficius" one. I am well aware of the proper spelling of his name. Being a fast typer, I have a natural and unconscious tendency to insert the letter "o" between the "i" and "u" in any "ious"-like ending. That certain proper nouns don't follow that ENGLISH convention occasionally makes the unintentional mistake pronounced.

What's your excuse?

Yeah, but that doesn't stop him from 1) calling you (and, indeed, everyone else here) "dumb", and 2) attempting to pass off his pedantic and insipid little quips as "education".

Please show me where I have called anyone here dumb. I did ask you to do this before and you refused, presumably after failing to be able to substantiate your inaccurate charge.

I gave the evidence before, too, but you dismissed it out-of-hand just like you will now. Your words betray you, like they always do, Poop. Hence:

/327/99/294867/9.html#post2247155

From: Pserendipity Daniels
And some, like you, remain dumb, however old they get.

Thereby proving your dumbness by splitting an infinitive as well as being unable to read "accurate"ly.

Pep (Act your age. Oh! You are . . .)

Taking those points in reverse order, I read almost *everything* in RA (kinda sad, eh?) even the girly sales threads ("Know your enemy!";) and pointless 'bot arguments ("Morality" in commerce? It doesn't happen in rl, why should it in sl), but contrary to popular opinion, I don't feel the need to troll everyone I disagree with.

Pep (Just the dumb ones)

Oh, and let's not forget your enumerated diatribe where you pretty much expose your take on your raison d'etre to post the way you do in these forums:

/327/cf/298062/14.html#post2260512

From: Pserendipity Daniels
A serious answer then. Or is it? It *is* Friday, and I haven't noticed a real Friday thread yet; although I am nearly done at work, and won't be around to point out the probable misunderstandings and over-emotional responses to my answer.

So why do I post as I do?

1. To make the dumb ones feel wanted and part of the great community of the SL Forums
2. To give the dumb ones the attention they obviously crave
3. To educate the dumb ones by pointing out errors
4. To persuade the dumb ones to ask fewer dumb questions so intelligent questions can have more visibility
5. To suggest to the dumb ones that they might want to take more time to think before posting so people can understand better what they want and can offer better solutions faster
6. To persuade the dumb ones that they might be taken more seriously if they presented their posts in a less dumb way
7. To persuade the dumb ones to think more logically about their arguments so that stupid ones don't contaminate any useful views they might have
8. To persuade the dumb ones to read what has been said on the thread(s) before they post to avoid wasting time
9. To persuade the dumb ones of the futility of presenting the same argument over and over again

and not least

10. To amuse intelligent people by making my points about arguments, generally using humour (so they get read) in a way that perhaps is occasionally too subtle for the dumb ones.

oh, and also

11. Because I can.

I could offer more rationales, but I am sure that will leave you something to think about for the rest of your day.

Pep (And what I do is *not* trolling by the conventional and historically accepted definition of internet trolling)

If you don't think that is calling specific people, as well as everyone else in general, "dumb", then I think you're the one here with the illiteracy problem.

Easy, because it didn't happen, no matter how much you want to twist the definition of the word "educate".

I use as much attention to my posts as possible without searching for answers for hours on one single reply. I overview my responces too before posting them.

However, I do not have the same skills as you. I use as much caution within my own skills to make my replies as good as possible and as clear as possible.

So you telling that I show a lack of respect towards the rest here by not taking enough care in my replies, is a false asumption.

You just lost the last bit of credit you had with me. You are about flaming and will never aknowledge the effort I use to post here.

Did someone ever teach you proper manners? You make assumptions about me and others that you cannot make. Unless you are sitting in the same room as me, and actually see how much time and effort I put into my replies, you have NO RIGHT WHATSOEVER to asume ANYTHING. Or worse... Judge on what YOU think I put into here as far as effort and showing respect towards other readers here.

Pep, you heavely dissapoint me with that remark. If you talk about Respect, you gotta show it first.

I post here to the best of my capabilities and knowledge. With a great deal of respect to others. Now that you find my skills not to be up to your personal standards, fine. But acusing me of showing no respect by not caring enough about my posts and not put enough effort into them?? THAT is unacceptable. That is a textbook example of: "Guilty untill proven innocent."

The type of behavior you'd expect for someone with a total disrespect to other people's feelings and skills and finding their own skills superior. Well on Social skills and respect, specially towards ESLers, you got a LOT to learn.

Ben.

Edited to ad: Yes you may find spelling errors in this post, I am not gonna spent hours on the net in dictionairies just to filter them out for your pleasure. And anyone that can read, can easely understand what I am talking about in this reply.

You called me stupid and ignorant once Pep. Don't bother asking me to look it up. Like Rioko, I just don't really care. The very moment you resort to those types of tactics, is the very moment we all know you have been crushed in the discussion.

Just popping in to remind folks that pippy has a compulsion to delete posts that may come back to haunt him, including an early one where he stated that 99% of the forum population has a "room temperature IQ". That, to many, would equate "stupid", at best.

Just keeping the record straight....

My little brother calls everyone stupid when he doesnt get his own way too. Its like his new fave word. It can be quite endearing from a child, but from a grown man (?) its kinda retarded. Anyway, carry on!

Yep - talking to a "kid" using language he would understand. Do you understand sarcasm?

Yep, talking to Rha, another throwaway sarcastic line.

You mean my "It's almost Friday, let's see what I can drum out of the woodwork" post? Do you understand the meaning of "tongue in cheek"? LMAO!

PS Would you like to take a post to justify how you might spell something Konfewshuss now?

I know English is your third language Brann, so I'll just point out that there are significant differences between "dumb", "room temperature IQ" and "stupid". :p

Put it in context: I am continually astonished that in a population that I would assume might be relatively intelligent, so many appear to behave as if they are not. ;)

You could read and *easily* understand a five year old's first reading primer.

Does the case for the prosecution rest without presenting any corroborative evidence then?

Pep (Suggestion: next time you make an error try responding *shrugs*. That way you won't draw as much attention to your incompetence and over-emotional over-reaction to your inadequacies. You don't have the chutzpah to be able to get away with it like some others can. The lack of a sense of humour doesn't help you much either, but maybe that's a cultural deficiency of dragonkind. ;) )

All this time I thought "Pep" was something fun in the form of an inside joke within the Forum Cartel. Sadly, it is just the PS of someone who likes to belittle strangers on the internet. I suppose that is why respectable people have warned me about this person and suggested I put them on ignore. Can I delete this thread now? lol :(
