Should forum members be allow to quote other members with words they never actually wrote in a post and then justify it by saying they also wrote "fixed it" below the quote?
Posts from the following members will never be replied to as they are on my ignore list:
Qie Niangao Pixieplumb Flanagan Phil Deakins Laurin Sorbet Kira Cuddihy Katheryne Helendale Innula Zenovka Chris Norse Brenda Connolly

It's an internet meme. You will have to rehabilitate half the BBs and forums on teh interwebz if you want to cleanse such posts from your screen.
Alternatively, you could simply ignore all communication that you don't like. That practice makes for a happier SL in general.

From: Lizard Himmel Should forum members be allow to quote Debra Himmel with words she never actually wrote in a post - but make considerably more sense - and then justify it by saying they also wrote "fixed it for ya" below the quote? Fixed it for ya! Pep (Self-referential.)

At least she spelled my name right Unfortunately she is easily confused. I never once used the quote function to change anything she said and then added 'fixed'. I made references to lizards and David Icke. Thankfully, that was enough to get me on ignore, yay! Neener neerer, Veritable!

Should it be allowed? :/ ... lighten up!
The reference to having "fixed it" is an admission that the 'quote' is inaccurate and doctored for effect/drama/LOLz.
It is yet another step removed from a paraphrase. Paraphrasal retains the original meaning while adjusting semantics for the current context. "I fixed it" has intentions which are understood in internet contex by the reader ranging from "this is what he SHOULD HAVE said" to "bastige lied, and THIS is the real truth" to "Ima pull his strings. watch me make him hopping mad, this is a pet peeve of his" ... that kinda thing.
If someone referenced an intentionally doctored quote WITHOUT specifying that they "fixed it" then it would be a whole different issue. That's called a "lie".
(If you're good at those and apply them in Big Brother-approved ways you can get very lucrative work in the Television or Newpaper industries)

From: TundraFire Nightfire Why ain't ya on dat lists, Pep? Maybe she's an ESLer who can't understand logical English, whether it's good argument or insults. Pep (I'll have to start channelling Jumpy, perhaps.) PS For a good example, Drivin, look at one of Love's posts in the Undying Thread yesterday; jeez, people don't understand how to play this game properly, do they!

It's stupid and childish, but if people weren't allowed to do stupid and childish things the internet would be a lonely place.

Well done, Debra, good to see you're able to accept you were wrong and play properly.

What got me the ignore list was saying, of her demands for proof of Laurin's medical history, From: someone That's a bit rich, coming from someone who first got us started on all this because she's either unwilling or unable to prove to LL that she's over 18 for fear, she says, the NSA would get hold of her details (anyone wondering what this is all about, see /327/e6/343495/1.html#post2583809 and following).

From: Innula Zenovka What got me the ignore list was saying, of her demands for proof of Laurin's medical history, I couldn't figure out if she wanted proof I had been immunized, had never had the diseases or proof that I wasn't autistic And then I decided it didn't matter what she wanted anyway

(If you're good at those and apply them in Big Brother-approved ways you can get very lucrative work in the Television or Newpaper industries) This. Debra, "fixed it" is just a joke. I hope you understand now that when folks are doing this, they're not actually attributing the quoted words to you. I see no problem with the practice. I wish people wouldn't make intentionally mean posts, but I doubt I'll have luck with that. I wish I could say I haven't done it myself, but I can't.

From: H. P. Lovecraft The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents. We live on a placid island of ignorance in the midst of black seas of infinity, and it was not meant that we should voyage far. The sciences, each straining in its own direction, have hitherto harmed us little; but some day the piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the light into the peace and safety of a new dark age. Not only that, but you can change the name of the person you're quoting!
