SL Sex, Lies, and Mind Games

SL is essentially a commercial venue for sex, lies, and mind games limited only by the constraints of imagination. It can be intellectually provocative and emotionally compelling. The opportunity for friendship and experience is endless. No wonder so many of us have made it an integral part of our real life experience. With that being said, does truth really matter here? Or is truth merely a reference to the “drama” that so many residents refer to with disdain in their profiles?

There is an old Chinese anecdote.
An old man is sitting in front of the town gates. A traveler comes about, and greets the old man: "Hey you, how are the people here? Maybe I'll move here." "Good afternoon, Sir. May I ask how the people are where you live?" The rich traveler sighs and replies: "Don't get me started: they yell a lot, are impatient, cause drama, are all in all rather a pain in the ass. So now say, how are the people here?" The old man shakes his head and answered: "The same kind of people you will find here too." The rich man travels further, letting the town left behind.
An hour later another traveler comes and greets the man. "Good afternoon kind Sir. May I ask you a bit about the people here? I might be interested to move into this town." The old man smiled and greeted back "Good afternoon, may I ask you first how the people are where you are from?" The traveler tilts his head and thinks a bit. "Well they have their little flaws, but all in all they are really nice people, fun to be around." The old man nods and answers: "The same kind of people you will find here too."

Somebody needs better friends and activities.

You find what you seek.

I agree with everything that has been said except for the op, of course.

I want Applaud and Agree Buttons. In all my years here, I have only been touched by drama once and it melted away- nobody died.

i would suggest more exploring of the grid and trying different things..

as far as if truth matters..well for some it doesn't..but if someone likes drama then bull pewpy will get them plenty of it..

I've seen more drama in these forums than I ever saw in SL............in fact, I've been involved in a little of that.

Of course Truth matters in SL. Good grief, how can you even ask?

Interesting recurring theme in the response thread. I was somewhat surprised by the flippancy. But, alas, when speaking of truth, there is nothing more to ascertain than validation of one’s own beliefs. RL is SL and SL is RL, everything flows from the electro-chemical energies of the mind. Try convincing a moron of the existence of intellectual propensities…

I think if you move through SL like that....you'll have a very rich experience. I doubt that searching for....expecting....or inventing Truth, will add to that. It's not possible in SL.

Sounds like you've been "living" SL, and not just watching.
