What's funny is that Raymond and I were out scouting parcels.... He liked the gorgeous nature parcels, whereas I was smitten with the parcel that was surrounded by high-rises. Seemed more grungy and fun to me, dunno.

Having been kind of busy laying tarmac 'n' stuff like that lately can someone bring me up to speed on this one (thus saving me reading 5 pages worth of fascinating submissions). We're buying property for a forum hangout ? How much do you need and who and how do we pay..? Kind of a summary of all that's gone before..coz it sounds like a great idea and count me in..I think!! ![]() I sympathise utterly with Perre here. Last I looked two days ago we were on Forum Hangout version 1. Now we have 6 pages of version 3. Some of us do have RL get in the way sometimes. I know about CartelTrustAccount Mumfuzz but what's this about a group owner leaving?!? BTW I would like to challenge Wilhelm for the post of Village Idiot .. after all, who elses IQ looks the same either way up?! Oh and CV? CV ... there, doesn't that look good? added: Oh bugger - just backread page 4 ... mumble, grumble .. <walks off sulking> _____________________

To anyone who's confused: The very first 3 posts of this thread pretty much sum up what's going on. We're still at that point. The rest has been haberdashery.

I agree with the no lag part. Flat green land sounds good too. I'm not familiar with the types of land that are available. Bumpy green, flat white, flat brown, bumpy white, sandy sloped, mountainous grey............. ![]() _____________________

As for Brenda doing a runner..... bullshit, Brenda you stay JUST where you are hun... this was yours and Chris's baby from the start It definately was their baby from the start but there's probably a legitimate perception that it's not anymore once it was determined the Forum Cartel would own the land and people started contributing money and land, etc to it. In hindsight it probably was a bad idea not to just start up a new group. Sad thing is, some people always take projects like this way too seriously. This is suppose to be fun and if someone donated and took it all too seriously then that's a shame and they probably should have stayed out of the whole thing. Basically, Brenda, it sucks that you left and I'll hope you reconsider rather than leave due to someone being too uptight. It sounds like you got crap for having some fun and personally, that's what I'm here for. |

to bring people up to speed in one post...
Forum Cartel Hideout the in-world group known as 'the forum cartel' is a free-to-join group founded by both chris norse and brenda connelly. the purpose of the group is to facilitate in-world meetups and communication amongst forum participants. recently it was suggested that it would be fun to have a place that forum users could use as a 'homebase'. the cartel took this onboard and over the past week have been formulating a game plan as well as accepting both tier and L$ donations. -who is doing what- chris norse and brenda connelly are the acting general overseers. raymond figtree and sarah nerd are the cartel land-buyers. trout recreant and oryx tempel are taking care of accounting/finance.* chris norse and incanus merlin are leading up the construction crew, while malachi petunia will undertake landscaping duties. -anyone may join the group. this is not a clique or a fic clan. the cartel is approaching 100 members representing all walks of sl life; furries, vampyres, faeries, child avs, etc. -the cartel group is currently taking tier donations. donations can made by group members directly through the group menu in-world. *-L$ donations are to be made to the cartels cashbot, CartelTrustAccount Mumfuzz. DO NOT send money to anyone other than CartelTrustAccount Mumfuzz. after you have donated to CartelTrustAccount Mumfuzz, send an im to oryx tempel and tell her how much you have donated. this is important! do not forget to im oryx. -deadline for L$ donations is Monday September 17 at 23:59 SLT land has been purchaced. see it in-world at: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Allana/195/29 _____________________

Wow. I'm busy in RL for a few days and what happens....a lot! Just catching up on this project and it sounds awesome. I can't wait to hang out when this place is up-and-running.
I run a furniture store and also have a lot of stuff I've made that isn't displayed in my store. Lots of different styles. I'm happy to donate/build whatever you need for free to this project. My speciality is low prim furniture like sofas and chairs etc. But also I love making things that work, like televisions, doors, lighting. Stuff like that. Just let me know what you need and I'll deliver asap. p.s. Swings are a must have but I also vote for lots of beer. |

If there are spinning lights, sploders, and moving textures on the floor, I reserve the right to throw a tantrum.

In my experience the best places for socialising and community building have been designed with one big seating area near the TP in point. Lots of nice comfy chairs, cushions, and blankets positioned so they can all be filled for one big round chatting space. Then you pretty much know that if people are sitting there they're up for conversation.
How about a tantrum spot too, perhaps with a soap box, for those times when we just need to vent and a quiet dark place for when the spinning ads have made us queasy again ![]() |

But if that is what you are looking for tap away my short friend. _____________________

been thinking of various uses outside the obvious.
examples: -mini freebie stall with some essential freebies (flight feather, ao) -lucrezia's noob box -maybe a little shack that group members can rez a backup server in. small seemingly unrelated thigs. _____________________

If there are spinning lights, sploders, and moving textures on the floor, I reserve the right to throw a tantrum. ![]() If I any thing to do with it, this project is not going to turn into an airplane hanger with strobe lights. So far the roadhouse concept has the most votes, so there may be a few pieces of flashing neon, but nothing overwhelming. Nina, one thing discussed so far was a changing room to allow homeless Forumites a place to dress. We are planning on allowing those who wish to set this as home as well. _____________________
