I actually said once, something to the affect of "Guilty people just have a certain look about them" -- and, as planned, I got released from serving.

I know that we should all feel honored to serve, but I'm just too cynical these days and have decided that our entire legal system is just about as screwed up as our political system.



BTW - Congrats on your new place.


Jury duty ain't really that bad. I did it last year, and although the case I was on was trivial, I was pleased that everyone on the jury took the job seriously, and really tried hard to get it right.

And thanks about the house. I'm pretty excited about it! Anyone and everyone is more than welcome to drop by any time to say hi. I only have one rule...No biting the ears! :D

If I were ever chosen to be on a jury I would try to be very conscientious about it. But they always ask if anyone in your family has ever been arrested and I always tell them that my brother is an activist who has been arrested for civil disobedience. And then I'm the the first person the prosecutor dismisses.

suggestions for avoiding jury duty
tell the prosecuter you're sure he's innocent, just look at that nice suit
tell the defense you are sure he's guilty, why else would they arrest him
tell the judge you ghost write for the local newspaper, and would like a quote.
