I do just the opposite. I tell them I come from a family of cops and the defense lawyere usually gives me the thumbs down.
And if you admit to any knowledge of psychology neither side wants you.

From: Chris Norse
Oh, it is better to keep your knowledge hidden, and use it to monkey wrench the system. But if you really want off, letting the judge know that you know your rights will get you kicked off quickly.

Personally, I would urge everyone to demand a jury trial for every offense. Never plead guilty. The system will collapse pretty quickly.
I agree the system is a mess and needs drastic changes. I'm not sure about having a sudden collapse though...

From: Vampaerus Wysznik
Everyone should know about jury nullification, whether they use it as an excuse or not. It's a good "secret" to be aware of.

It seems as if the political and the justice systems would work better if more people were more educated about them.

I think that, at this stage, trying to address the OP's original topic will count as off topic.

LOL, Conan! In its first day of life, the OP edited the first post, so poor latecomers to the thread had no idea what the original topic was!!

As I recall, I think it had something to do with Windows....

LOL, was just re-reading the first page. :)

edit: ah yes, as Brenda says, it was a Firefox-related question.

The way traffic tickets are "handled" these days is an abomination to any sense of "justice" I'm aware of. My last speeding ticket was a real eye opener. The hearing was a farce.

I beat my last one in court. :D The clerk had given me an illegal court date, violating the requirement that when you plead not guilty the court date must be within X number of days. The clerk set the date at x+3 days.

When I pointed this out to the judge, he dismissed all charges.

Morning Maureen, and lovely thought. The breakfast looks fab too but I must be really tired this morning. I thought that 2nd picture was set for Passover when I first looked at it

/me grabs the large coffee on my desk and drowns it quickly

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

It seems as if the political and the justice systems would work better if more people were more educated about them.

Throughout history, governments have counted on the ignorance of the populace to keep them in power. If each and everyone of us were willing to accept responsibility for our selves, government would be unnecessary. Yes, I know, there I go advocating anarchy again :)

Happy Veterans Day- If you breathe free, thank a veteran.

On the 11th day, of the 11th month, on the 11th hour.........90 years after the War to End All Wars. Thank You to all who have served. Yesterday was also the 233rd Birthday of the US Marine Corps. Semper Fi, Jarheads.

On a related note, the Nurse in this picture, who is still alive will be the Grand Marshall for this year's Veteran's Day Parade in New York

From: someone
Remember that iconic World War II photo of the sailor kissing the nurse in Times Square on Victory Day? The nurse returns to the spotlight Tuesday. Edith Shain, now 90, will be honored at New York's Veteran's Day parade. She's pretty sure she's the nurse in the photo. The image doesn't show their faces. And the photographer never got their names. Shain says she didn't know the sailor's name, either. He just grabbed her and kissed her.
