Ha... I am on the good side of the country, way above sea level....

Okay Okay....
*pushes one box back*
I had to think of the story of the boy who saved the country by placing his finger into a dyke.....

*looks innocent*
Such a hero....

Morwen.

Morwen, I wouldn't touch that comment with a ten-foot pole...er, Pole.

Please make sure to verify and only contemplate putting fingers into dykes on restricted parcels.

You all are as dirty minded as I am.... but then again, a dirty mind is a joy forever.

To be serious again...
I don't doubt all will know... just to be sure. The old Dutch story about the boy who saved the country by to close a leak in a sea-dyke with his finger.... it is a legend, folkore... and nothing more then that...

So why IS a lesbian called a "dyke?" What's that MEAN, anyway?

At what point should the dykes all come forth to identify themselves?

(Yes, horrible, I know)

I am just frustrated that they impose more and more restrictions without giving us enough choices, like giving us more privacy options for example. Isn't is that hard to implement them?
Or are they waiting for the adult industry to go extinct first then add more privacies?

Linden should give us better explanations...

Truth I think LL has a love hate relationship with the Adult industries in game. It generates a huge amount of cash and user base for them. It also unfortunately leaves the door wide open for potential lawsuits and bad press.

I suspect if they could give us more privacies economically they would. Its a good cover thier own butt move against just that kind of litigation.

But honestly for me I would settle for a stable grid 99% of the time first. I suspect LL is struggling to maintain that.

The kind of privacies that would be required to be effective would be a massive rewrite of alot of the core code of SL. A company that is fighting to keep the grid running just isnt going to invest the money and manpower in that when its needed to just exist.

They won't though...they've said they prefer to keep things vague because it gives them greater latitude.

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

Just disabling camming through walls would go a long way. You know, if locked doors actually meant something?

Been asking for that for 3 years. Hasn't happened yet. For that matter I vaguely remember from a long ago town hall being told it would be a massive rewrite to achieve. Of course that was back when LL cared to talk to us openly and we still thought they cared.

I kinda believe that. But I think the real difficulty now is that as the client has gone open source, then all bets are completely off for a solution like this. The only way LL can guarantee anything would be to filter the content coming from the servers appropriately.

I mean, if I can edit and recompile the client, ban lines and restricted parcels aren't going to mean anything anymore. I haven't checked to see if they validate clients before allowing them to connect to the grid, but that sort of thing is usually pretty easy to defeat...

Love.

I thought someone said that the Lindens believed they could create a sky zone fairly easily which wouldn't allow peeping though...it just wouldn't exist on your viewer unless you had permission to see it. Third hand knowledge, so I don't know if it's true, but I'd love a little Pocket o' Privacy if it were possible.

According to SL, both are offered as examples of what is to be flagged. If it flunks either the AO standard or the R rating, it needs to be flagged. That seems to be the plain meaning of the blog post, and since I think the R rating is "lower" than the AO rating, effectively we're looking at the R rating as the yardstick in most cases.

Your first sentence is true, but the second doesn't follow. It says to refer to them for guidance, no more. One could just as easily conclude that something needs to flunk both ratings to require flagging. That would also be a conclusion that doesn't follow.

The only thing that follows is that if you're unsure, both these definitions are acceptable starting points. As guidelines, any specific instance ought to be close to these, but since they're only guidelines, they don't have to exactly match.
