Given that Andrew stated at his office hour (quoted elsewhere) that he wants to see Megaprim Liberation completed by the end of '08, I don't think our new prims are going to be taken away any time soon.

I have used the old ones in my mainland builds for quite some time and Guy Linden even told me I might have problems rezing things on them, so I know he saw them. But that was his only negative comment.

Is there anywhere left on the grid that you can still make mega prims?

anywhere, left unpatched?

I believe it's too late everywhere now, but I think that some people here have places them in freebie boxes. I don't know where though.

Nope. The loophole has been firmly closed in all sims. But while it was open, we made literally thousands of shapes. Search on SLX for "megaprim" and you'll find most of the new ones there, for free. Some duplicates pack to pack, but each of us had our own spin on what we created.

These perform MUCH better than the heavily dimpled originals. For example, I had previously made several sky platforms for a client, using the old 100 x 100 x 2 prim, which is a dimpled 100 x 100 x 100. It was very difficult to rez things on it. I replaced those prims with new 100 x 100 x 1 prims that had been made that size in the first place, and can rez first time, every time, on them, with no problems at all. And unlike the former, their bounding box is tight to the megaprim. The only real flaw is that their area doesn't show correctly on the mini-map.

Based on this then I suspect we should replace all the old megaprims and perhaps have eventually them banned if the Megaprims MK2 are available in the same sizes and so much better.
So what is the biggest MK2 anyone has made?

Theres modifiables in 1024x1024xVERYTHIN
Most sets cap at 256, some at 128 or 64 scale max.
Few use the values [200,300,400,500].

>256 is nonsensical.

Anyone know of a 192 x 192 x 192 megaprim?

Necropost is an odd word for such a young child to use.

Do you know if your mom or dad has a 192 x 192 x 192 megaprim?

I have SALT. It does not appear to have a 192 x 192 x 192 prim.

I can't believe no one thought to make a prim that could be a sphere the size of the maximum scanning range.

Thanks, Little, that was just what I was looking for.

They are pretty annoying, even you want one. I have to set my draw distance farther than works well just to see it.

It makes it real clear what the maximum scanner range is.

I don't have a security orb, but I see comments about them all the time. Someone asked how to measure their parcel to see how many security orbs they would need. That's what made me think about this.

I just changed the texture, color, shine, and am wearing it as an attachment at the moment, using the Cool Viewer.

I'd just like to take this thread as a chance to say thanks for all the time put in by the people who created these latest batch of Megaprims.

With a mostly transparent grid of lines applied, which ends up looking like latitudes and longitude lines, set to phantom, tje 192 sphere is probably unobtrusive enough to have out long enough to get a good idea of where your security orb reaches, set to max range and 360 sweep.

Yep, it took some fast work to make the zillions of prims available.

Thanks to LittleToe and various others for their help in finding the 192. I'm told it is in Zagroth's Megaprim pack, but I couldn't find it in there by the time LittleToe gave me the particular one.

I didn't think that size exists. The hacked clients that were used to make the new ones last May or so were clamped at a max of 100M. Glad you found one!

The people who were "manually" injecting packets through SLProxy (like myself) were able to build over 100m.. though I limited myself to 128 (and then, only when a prim's aspect ratio required 64m x 2). I know some people made some 1024's and 2048's for "terraforming the void" purposes.

Making head or tail of what exactly to do to get the aforementioned megaprim capability is a little tough. Can anyone summarize clearly what one has to do with SLProxy and the SLViewer in a logical sequence (bullet list?) to make this work?

TIA,

Rema, the software was patched server side a while ago, so this exploit is no longer available. We are limited to the megaprim packages that are been kept by several people around the grid.
