They've been "discussing" it since late 2005.

True, but with the added onus of PosJump, I doubt it will be long before there is an "official" solution. The point I was making is that they are directly telling us that it won't be supported long-term, and WILL be fixed, unlike the WarpPos misfeature.

Why? PosJump is more efficient than WarpPos, and they also talked about releasing a real teleport when they accidentally broke and fixed WarpPos. They talked about it when they messed with llMapDestination. They talked about it when they backed out of releasing llTeleportAgent in the first place. They've got no incentive to actually do it, and limited resources.

You're preaching to the choir, pastor.

They do if they are serious about fixing PosJump in 1.27, as stated.

Supposedly, the problem is in a very basic class, not in SPP itself, and supposedly also causes (or can cause; something I have asked about, but not gotten a straight answer as to what) issues in other areas of SL. As such, this one is likely to be fixed.

You may be right that they will peter it away, just like "all the others". However, I get the impression that their motivations to fix this particular issue are significantly greater than in the past.

They don't even need to keep PosJump working now. People will still keep using WarpPos. And they don't need to implement scripted teleportation, either, all they have to do is take the restrictions off llSetPos().

All I know is if we have had reports of problems with people wearing giant megaprims, such as obstruction of clicks (as with vendors or other systems), lag, etc. I would STRINGENTLY advise against such use for the likelihood of being associated with such problems, even if indirectly related.

As for the Lindens making it an "supported misfeature", they've already broken PosJump, and plan to break it again permanently as soon as the new, official llTeleport functionality is in, so I wouldn't bank on this being "grandfathered", either.

You can't click on the megaprim hider. It's impossible to, whether it's worn or rezzed. It's also textured with a full alpha image, and some (mine is at least) are scripted to delete on rez. There's no possible harm in it.

And Nyx Linden seems to be taking me seriously at least. When I make it clear that the hundred plus people using them will be Very Cheesed Off(TM) if they can't make alpha skins or hide their avatar some other way, I believe the dev team will have some sense and rethink their timing. I hope they will anyway.

And why for the love of all that is shiny does everyone seem to think that I want the stupid bug grandfathered? I don't. I want alpha masks. I just don't want to have to tell the PennySnatcher army that they'll look like freaks for the next several weeks/months while LL makes a new viewer.

I wouldnt know as this is my main. What makes you assume im Trolling, i was trying to find a solution to my problem which i thought is what these forums are for. Sorry i got your hopes up. I didnt take into account the thread title or that it would be bumped when i posted. I dont frequent any forums and am not used to crap like necroposting id never even heard of the term before.

My apologies then on my incorrect assumption, sorry we have had a plague of somebody using alts to dig up old threads lately.

Thanks to the person who decided to necropost this thread, we are now having to deal with MORE people "begging for help making new megaprims."

This thread is a year old.

NO NEW MEGAPRIMS HAVE BEEN MADE SINCE MAY 15, 2008!

YOU CAN NOT MAKE MEGAPRIMS ANYMORE.
YOU CAN NOT MAKE MEGAPRIMS ANYMORE.
YOU CAN NOT MAKE MEGAPRIMS ANYMORE.
YOU CAN NOT MAKE MEGAPRIMS ANYMORE.
YOU CAN NOT MAKE MEGAPRIMS ANYMORE.

No proxy, no special client, and no script will magically allow you to do what no one else can.

Yes, some third-party viewers still allow stretching prims to sizes larger than 10m.

No, the servers will not permit them to remain that size. They will "snap back" to 10m.

If you want to make NEW prims that are greater than 10m, you will have to go to another third-party GRID to do it. Many open-sim based grids have their minimums set differently than Linden Lab. Don't ask me which ones, I don't know. You won't be able to import that data back to Second Life.. not even with "Second Inventory" or "Copybot".

I am truly sorry to rain on your parade and dash people's hopes, but the necroposting of this thread is causing a GREAT deal of confusion.

To put the record straight once as for all, as of today, new megaprims can not be made in Second Life. When this situation changes, I'm sure someone will post about it.

Until then, many comprehensive packages of megaprims have been made available (most often for free) on XStreetSL.com.
