I understood your question, but I wanted to write the step-by-step stuff because the way to do it couldn't be found in this thread, or even pointed to, which was a bit frustrating for me ![]() And I (as well as others) very much appreciate it because if I have need of mega prims before LL's implementation, I'll be coming here and using your instructions! So, thanks again!! |

In case anyone missed Nicholaz's short post.... it's now included in his viewer ![]() http://nicholaz-beresford.blogspot.com/ I just tried Nicholaz's EC-f and replaced my skybox roof with a newly created 20x20 prim. Thank you so much Nicholaz! Builder's dream... stable viewer, 4096 build height and large prims rolled into one. _____________________

how to do floats? in vectors like:
/in ObjectAdd <0.2,16,8> It just multiplies it by 10 untill it becomes an integer, wich is bad. |

Yay! I got it to work with the Nicholaz EC-f viewer!
So far, so good... I made a 20 M diameter "doggy dish", 5 M tall, using a 20 x 20 x 5 and a 20 x 20 x .1 custom megaprim, with the tall one tapered 25% and hollowed 95%, and it acts very normal. No problems walking inside it or rezzing prims on it. _____________________
Sorry, LL won't let me tell you where I sell my textures and where I offer my services as a sim builder. Ask me in-world.

I second Ceera. A BIG Pie for Nicholaz. No need for SLProxy, just download Nicholaz's EC-f client... I'm soooo going to totally redo all my builds.

Yup. I made a point of sending Nicholaz a PayPal donation as a thank-you gift.

Can I say that I <3 Nicholaz right now? I'm so rebuilding my shop bit by bit because of this! I like the idea of shaving down the prims sooo much!

BTW, don't forget to say thanks to Able Whitman, the guy who wrote the patch Nicholaz is using
![]() BTW, off topic but Able also has just made a patch that lets you turn off facelight's and bling on avatars. ![]() http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-6540 |

Oh, I won't forget Able either! Now, if SL would just behave for a few, I'd be building to my hearts content, replacing prims with properly sized mega prims

Yay! that works brilliantly - now we needs a new list of do's and don'ts - I don't really want to make people float off sim if possible.

Me being the complete noob at this sort of thing, I cannot get this to work at all, I believe I am following the instuctions given but when I type in the /inject ObjectAdd <30,30,30> nothing happens? Gonna try a few more times this evening to see if I am doing something wrong. Question I do have, is this done in a particular viewer? I am running the older viewer 1.19.0.5 (graphics card is no good for the latest). thanks!

To make a megaprim just createa prim the way you normally would. Don't forget to change it back after you have created the prims you want or every prim will rez this size. The default looks like: (.5;.5;.5) At least that worked for me ![]() _____________________

I wanted to show my first "concrete" usage of megas for landscaping... this is ******* great! So a big tnx to Able and a tnx to LL that decided (since im sure this isn't a bug...) to remove the size limit server side. I'm not gonna post the SLUR since it would looks like spamming... but if get a chance come to visit, it's nothing new (megas to enrich the landscaping outside the region borders... well if you don't have neighborns!), im still teaking it, but it's a cool visual effect so far.

Bit warey of using another viewer... and it's a bit slow going using the latest viewer BUT IT WORKED, just created my first megaprim. Awesomeness. anyone having any issues with the megas ghosting? As in you delete it but its bounding box is still there blocking your path?
and, megas are going away again soon according to Spike Linden. *sniffles* _____________________

anyone having any issues with the megas ghosting? As in you delete it but its bounding box is still there blocking your path? Yes, and had other problems too. Went to my parcel to replace some old megaprim screens (phantom, max size 32x32) with new megas (phantom, max size 32x96), and after that, couldn't rez anything anymore ("Attempt to rez an object failed" . Couldn't even put stuff into prims on the parcel ("Inventory creation on in-world object failed" .Rezzing worked fine elsewhere so I figured it was not the asset servers this time, so I went to delete the new megas again to see if it was their fault -- and couldn't. Some ghosted, others just stayed. Had to go and ask for a sim restart :/ I for one won't be using those new ones again unless we get official word that it's OK to use them ... |
