Well. Guild wars, WoW, etc seem to manage a lot better.

Well everyone there pays to play, so a pissed off customer is an important customer............... :)

ok for one Yummy your a hypocrite your bitching right along with us doesnt matter if your bitching about the grid or about us bitching your doing it as well. second we do deserve better then this especially when we invest so much into secondlife, you would think they would have got their act together and fixed it already since 2003.

I say we get rid of the the new things they keep adding to sl since it wasnt as bad before as it is now

Yep lets dump Havok4, media, mono, Windlight, sculpties, voice, flexies, particles, audiostreaming, islands, and go back to the 2003 viewer with no colour & no sound.

I am no "old lady" my friend. I am a well educated consumer who has a right to voice my opinion the same as anyone else. Before you start name calling, perhaps you should read the TOS. I mean....if you can read.

I just love it when people respond accordingly instead of trying to beat around the bush. It's so rare these days that its actually refreshing to see.

Exaggerating a bit aren't we?

Nothing there that you mentioned except Havok/Windlight is new here. And those if need be sl can do without.

SL can do without color just as well as it can do without graphic & physics upgrades.

FFS, today was a network problem with their internet service provider. It wasn't Havok or Windlight. And they have had people working on it for the last 24 hours. I'm not 100% happy but I am sympathetic. It's not 100% their fault.

You know, I come here and read all the posts about how horrible a job Linden Lab is doing, and how disgusted people are, and fed up, and "im going to leave SL", etc etc..I swear, it's like a bunch of old women and spoiled rotten "Britney Spears"...does anyone ever realize how hard of a job it is to cater to all of us "I want it NOW' ppl? Second Life is a platform like nothign else out there, it's constantly changing, it isnt a static game like WOW. Im sure they're doing their very best to get things right. Im sure they dont want a shitty platform just as much as you dont. Does anyone say anything positive? Sorry, I just really hate bitching right now.

I whole heartedly agree with you.

Been here since 2005 and havent had any real problems.

If I wasnt "happy" I sure as hell wouldnt pay $$ and stay.

I never understood the "I pay a ton of money and things are still broke.... but I'm staying" attitude.

I agree. But I think some careful analysis of "lessons learned" might be in order, after this past week and weekend, to help LL "fine-tune their management processes," among other things. At the simplest level, they may want to consider whether they've got enough redundancy in their network provider, or if they need to achieve redundancy through multiple providers (which may be pricey, though). But I'm really thinking that they kinda set themselves up for a lot of customer dissatisfaction this weekend with the H4 changes hitting folks at the same time as the required viewer update--especially with it defaulting to Windlight, which often requires some substantial customer attention beyond just downloading a new viewer. And on a Friday. And when the grid wasn't behaving well.

And then--a network failure over which they had no control. But everything was already in a vulnerable position, vis a vis customer satisfaction--and a little management attention to release timing could have mitigated the "perfect storm" effect.

Hindsight is always 20/20, but that doesn't mean one can't learn from... well... "past suboptimal judgments." Hence, although bitching is surely a total waste of time, constructive suggestions for improvement might be productive.

A "perfect summary." Did they really have to rollout the Havocs and the Windlights together? During a week when most people couldn't buy anything almost daily? And maybe be a bit more informative as to what we would have to do ourselves to cope with it, especially for us "lazy backwater residents" stuck between 1998 and 2003, depending who you talk to? It really isn't hindsight. It's more history repeating itself. The constantly put plans in motion without thinking about the effects it will have on their customers.

Its just bad business sense really.

I think they probably smoked something ..

And then thought everything would come online without a hitch.

------------------------

And the forced Windlight should have waited till summer. Some people are still paying off their Xmas CC bills still ...

And now LL does something that means they may need a better video card?

LOL really it could have waited till October.

Who is going to be impressed by fake video game sunlight at the time of year when ACTUAL sunlight is making a comeback?

I finally went online last night and saw an entirely different SL. The combo of Windlight and a new MacBook Pro to replace my old powerbook made for faster frame rates and spectacular views. If this had been my SL experience for the last year I would not have sold my sim.

The only bitching now is that I crashed four times. Anyone else crashing a lot more than usual or do I need to lower my Windlight settings?

SL was just bad for crashing this past weekend. Just give it a couple of days, a new MacBook should be fine, if your still crashing then yes, maybe reduce some settings.

Whats a crash?

I never really experienced SL crashing. I've been in Sims that crashed, but never had SL crash itself.

By LL's released metrics ~21% of all sessions crash. Only 1/3 of those were region crashes. So thats a lot of people.
