At least the complaining about complaining HERE has been kept polite, for the most part. That fact still doesn't erase the irony that complaining about complaining encapsulates, but I digress... Try the old TSO Stratics once. The game has been down so much in the past few weeks, the lag is awful, and people are losing items daily, yet if you complain, you get tarred, feathered and branded as a "...returning player who just doesn't get that it isn't the same game anymore!" (only, other than the name of it being changed and the cities being moved onto one map - it's nearly exactly the same, only worse, because of all the downtime and other issues. Or you may get branded as a "...new player who is spoiled by instant gratification games like WoW!" (never mind that people spend weeks and months trying to get certain items in WoW). The only way you're allowed to bitch without being slammed by the forum regulars (and this includes the resmods - who are the worst snotty, defensive as hell, and yes, even engaging in ad hominem, anytime and criticism is leveled at EA/Maxis), is if you ARE one of the forum regulars. THEN you are allowed to complain, and even start "I'm leaving!" threads, where they will all kiss your ass and wish you well on your next endeavor. Anyway, the point is, I see a lot less of that sort of behavior here, and I am glad about that. The point is, what will bitching achieve? The smart thing to do now, is wait out the storm and in the mean time, be supportive of LL's efforts. You could do a lot worse, and bitching can only have negative effects. |

Regardless... Considering I don't pay tier, here's how I feel- I pay them enough in upload fees for my avatars to get them a meal at McDonald's. However- my SIM owner, and fellow admin, pays them enough to pay their damn rent. I work for him- and as an Estate Manager I can tell you guys that I've seen several things BROKEN that took days to fix. You know how we deal with greifers? We enter their name, and use the "Return all of avatars scripted objects" in the Estate Tools.
This SHOULD instantly return everything of theirs that is scripted. Well, about a month ago, that button returned EVERYTHING that scripted. And I mean EVERYTHING. About 4 of us reported it, not to mention whoever ELSE reported it grid-wide. You know it took them over 2 weeks to FIX that? After we had to roll-back the sim about 3 times? And what about the Alpha-texture glitch? Something thats been here longer than I have, and I have yet to see it fixed. I think as a resident, buyer, seller, and an Estate manager, I have every right to complain about this... Ya know? When I have to explain to several residents that their vendors, homes and countless OTHER items was returned due to a bug the Lindens took their damn time on to fix, Well... I think that pretty much explains itself. |

As Jack remarked earlier, this is an extraordinarily prolonged and unusual disruption. Many high-profile services and corporations are feeling the pain this morning, and full scale efforts are underway to isolate and fix the root cause. And we will bend over backwards to accomodate them. If it were just affecting you "regular" people..."Tough Noogies". _____________________

Someone mentioned that SL's network load on the ISP is 1000% higher than, say, WOW or Everquet. I'm wondering where they pulled that stat from...........hmmmm, maybe not.
But my immediate thought was what about a site like You Tube and their network load? I'm sure there are more than 50,000 plus users browsing, downloading, uploading, playing streams, jumping from one video to another at any given time (don't ask me where I pulled that information from......most likely the same place the person who posted the 1000% tid bit pulled theirs information .The ISP excuse for major down times on SL has been used quite a lot over the years I've been in the game.........it's beginning to sound a lot like a canned response to headaches LL can't readily solve for themselves. I'm beginning to not buy that reason anymore. Or I wonder why they continued to use that ISP if it's so prone to problems and that is really the core of all those big problems. Something don't add up correctly. Anyway, I can bitch if I want to.......and, I do |
