As someone who pays her real life mortage and kid in college from SL I can feel the pain of those who are frustrated. but GIVE ME A BREAK... We have not had this bad of issue since a few months ago, when then it was every other day!!! So give THEM a break ((LL))!!!! I would rather be out of it for a short time, and yes it has only been a short time. Maybe not in "I have nothing else to do world" but in SL or RL time it has been short. I am currently shopping for a computer and my requirements are to run SL the best way I can. So I am not only investing time but money in this venture. And I for one appreciate those who are working behind the Grid to get it working. And I hope the time they have to take to "update" us cause others are screaming "We want to know what is going on!!" is not taking them from valuable repair time or adding to the length the Grid will be down.
So Kudo's to Yummy and LL.... and OMG the woman had her kids taken away when she could have afford the best nanny around, so yeah I have alot against Britney!!!

One positive thing I will say is that at least they are updating their blog fairly regularly.

They get paid whether the grid is up or down, they get paid overtime when it's down. WE only get paid when it's up.

That might be why those who complain about problems, do so.

I mean it's like this.. I have tried other games, they just dont do for me. On top of that, it does affect my business. No, i dont rely on SL for RL income, but it's nice to be able to come in and not hear folks complaining about lag, cant recieve payments, can rez things, ect. I had to go out and get a new computer because of the recent "update" cause my old one cant run SL anymore. Now if that is not dedication.. i dont know what is. I can still do everything else on the old one, but because i can update my graphics card in it...no SL. So that plus the money i pay each month, i expect a little better. Back in the day, when i first started..it never seemed like we had this many problems, now it's a new issue every day.

And how much are you getting paid for this? Obviously, you have to be on their payroll to come here to bitch about people who have a right to complain being the service here is lousy. Or maybe you feel they should do as you do and swallow all this bullshit while paying money for a service they or we're not getting.

I agree with Yummy. Second Life is wonderful and we should always be grateful to Linden Lab for what we have overall, the big picture, as it were.

Yes, it is annoying if things don't work properly, especially if it disrupts a planned special occasion, but these things happen almost everywhere. Another website my RL was looking at, that is nothing to do with SL, has been down for maintenance all day - it's not just SL that goes wrong.

World of WarCRACK - 11.2 Million subscribers...averaging at 1.5 million connected at any one time on the central routing system with peaks during weekend averaging at 3.1 million on the central routing system with packet loss at 1.2%

EVE Online - A little under 2 million confirmed paying customers averaging at 500,000 people connected with a packet loss on the main routing network listed as 0.28% Also, EVE has the biggest world of ANY mmo...even Second Life itself.

Guild Wars - Doesnt count...its highly instanced...

The Korean MMO's...

Fly For Fun - A free hack and slash MMO with a confirmed 1.9 million subscribed (payment on file) userbase and an average of 130,000 online at any time, listed 0.01% packet loss on the main router but has problems with the atlantic routing system.

There is about another 10 MMO's i can list here, some are instanced, some are fully online.

What do all of the above MMO's have in common? They all took 3 years to develop and were released and patched then expanded by the time the 5 year mark came along.

Why is Second Life considered "special"? Cause the rest of the gaming market consider Second Life nothing more than a 5 year beta test game, why do you think no other SERIOUS game developer is using the Second Life Grid? Why do you think no other serious gane developer has taken over Linden Labs i mean come on Yummy...EA Games is running around buying any 2 bit tom dick and harry gaming company, Activision just took over Blizzard/Vivendi in a 10.1 BILLION...yeah...BILLION dollar deal....

Yet here is linden labs, with their half baked useless coders and a backend routing system which has so many holes and code shortcuts it makes 1 year students bust a gut laughing.

I've worked for a few of the big names out there, Interplay (in their heyday), Activision (in their prime pre "Acti LACK OF Vision" days), MicroProse (before the Hasbro takeover). I am literally shocked that Linden Labs have managed to keep this going for this long without having to sell the whole kit and kaboodle as an on going concern...

I'm not a premium user, i rent my land but if i was a premium user i would be on the parapet shouting down at the lindens asking the simple question...

The reason that LL hasn't been bought out, is that nobody wants this steaming pile. It would cost more to retrofit and fix, than it would to scrap it all and star over.

SL is the laughingstock of MMORGs, pure plain and simple.

Other way around. Blizzard bought controlling interest in Activision-Blizzard.

And what not one of them up there have that Second Life does? User Created Content. Everyone one of those games have ALL the content already installed on the user's PC's, and only has to send positional data, and the chat information.

Amount of difference in network load? About 1000%.

Are any of the test grids up?

This has been mentioned before. If we are all Beta Testers on the main grid as some have postulated, what is the Beta Grid, then? A "Pre Beta" grid?
