ahhhhh... good times... when teleports meant showing up within 6-8 sims of your target, and you got to fly the rest of the way there.... before private islands, back when flight assist was a requirement, and a building might actually rezz around you mid air.

The longest serving resident I've seen joined in 2002. I think that means they must have been a resident of Linden World before it became Second Life in June 2003.

I was part of the post 6/6/6 influx, born in on the wave of interest when the BBC got hold of the idea and had virtual presenters flying around the grid attending gigs from mainstream artists. Boy did that promise ever fade quick. A lot of people who meet me consider me old. The guys my one year-old alt met last night considered *her* old!

Being an 06er means I remember the introduction of voice being a sky-is-falling event, flexies being relatively new & cool, newspaper pyjamas, ruth, "1,000,000" written across the face of the sun, first 10,000 concurrency, "first land" (although landflippers bought it all before I could get to any), L$10/m being considered expensive, L$10/m being considered reasonable and L$10/m back to being outrageous.

And I still meet people twice my age, which is pretty much where I am in RL too. 2006, generation-X of SL.

I remember the days when you could be a whore and make good Lindens. Now there's too many of them.

So?

Were you responding to me?

I mean you can measure how old you are by the number of people on your Friends list who never login anymore and the number of LMs you have to places you used to go to and which aren't there anymore - that sort of thing.

(btw- I think she meant the 'So' as a lead in to how to find out if your name is heritage.)

Very cool you are still here- are you active in-world still? And since there is another thread running around here- if you are, how is it all still fresh for you? What keeps you coming back?

GROANS! Another reminder of age, I was absolutely devastated when they started to call the Rock & Roll I listen to; "Classic Rock".

The other one I mentioned in the forums one time. I was in Guadalajara, Mexico a couple of years ago and got to go see Santana. The whole time I was there I was looking around amazed at the number of old people there until I realized I was older then most of them

Don't ask her to many questions. I am sure by now that she tires easily and her mind wanders.

Yes, I'm still active but on my alt accounts that run businesses. Learning new skills keeps it fresh. In another 7 or so years I may just be able to script my way out of a wet paper bag. What keeps me coming back is money. I've put a lot of time into SL, it's really nice that I can earn money from it.

I certainly don't have as long in-world, but every day to me is brand new- I agree that learning new things is the best incentive- as for the scripting... eeeeek... /me runs and hides whimpering...

For me, it was a Jethro Tull concert. A sea of balding heads in front of us.

For me it was asking someone where they were when Apollo 11 landed, and they looked at me... "I wasn't even born yet".

I still consider myself a bit of a noob, but I'm older than this thread, that has to count for something.

And I, too, remember how voice was going to cause the sky to fall, as well as all the dubious chatter about how sculpties were going to ruin everything.
