If you can understand this video and lyrics you are just old enough :D
This is actually a song about Second life..and it is goood :)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=epkPUDHv76E

Come here and meet me
I wanna let you know
What I've been thinking in the back of my sick mind
Come entertain me
Let your inhibitions go
Come see where I've been spending all my time

It's a modern addiction
Cyber religion
A new way to lose yourself
And leave the world behind

Two-world reality
I found paradise in my Second Life
Got a whole new sense of me
I found paradise in my Second Life
Living out my fantasies
I found paradise in my Second Life
Read about reality

A new generation
Of thrill-seeking socialites
A hybrid population leading a perfect life
No pain, no disease
No death, no tragedies
The other side is calling me from a dream that I can't leave

Two-world reality
I found paradise in my Second Life
Living extrasensory
I found paradise in my Second Life
Living out my fantasies
I found paradise in my Second Life
Read about reality

Tens of millions
Roaming dominions
Looking for a high
No restrictions
Nothing's forbidden
Searching in the night

Come inside and fly with me
It's insanity
One by one everybody's giving in,
Thinking nothing's wrong
'Til we've all been hypnotized
Strung out desensitized
By the time we've had enough
we'll be wired up and sold for blood

Two-world reality
I found paradise in my Second Life
Got a whole new sense of me
I found paradise in my Second Life
Living out my fantasies
I found paradise in my Second Life
Read about reality
I found paradise (repeat four times)

The clip was produced by Aleisha Russell of Esprit Films and edited by Chris Lowe of Suite 7 Productions . "Second Life" features lyrics that were inspired by the 3-D social networking website called Second Life , Tarsha gives fans a strong dose of his signature modern-rock sound while focusing attention to the growing phenomenon of online "metaverses," 3-D societies that exist in cyberspace. "Second Life" comes off TARSHA 's latest album, "Divine Universe" .

I was told by someone that once you hit one year in SL,you are no longer considered a newbie. Than you start to get OLD OLD OLD.

It is not a static age but more of a sliding scale. If you have been in SL for over half its life you are old. If you still necro post on long dead threads you are a newbie. :p

The cross eyed glitch. :D

(You can still trigger it today, but it takes a lot of work!)

Let's not forget the missing image glitch from around September-December 2006. Note my Aunty in the lower-left corner

And the invisible avatar glitch, from around when I started, February 2006.

Related to the thread, yesterday the ol "Age Detector" said I was 1300 days old. Who knew?

well... my 2005 char is an alt :P my original account was dec 2003 and was a 'lifetime member' alas that character is long gone... i'm sure he was banned just so they could stop giving me the freebies. But I still feel like a newb in SL and don't know a soul on the grid.... a lot of people see my age and say WOW you've been here forever, you must of seen so much, done so much.... and some ways they are right, most cases it's meh been there done that... but the game is constantly changing, constantly improving, old places old styles old builds vanish into the night time, new come to replace.... so we are always newbs at heart :).

I've only met one other person with the last name of Pro, and that was just last month. Pro was actually supposed to be my alt for my primary registered in July 2006. But, eventually Pro became my primary, and Hugo is now only used for testing things out and getting in-world without a barrage of IM's.

Actually, it's funny to log in as Hugo ... 3 years old, and still looks like a n00b.

Oh the good old days ... Black Wednesday was always fun. 20K logins would crash the grid like clockwork. Clubs hosted "crash parties." Gambling in the casinos was legal, and a good way to earn money to put back into the economy. Ageplay was a legal, and booming business opportunity. And who can forget hanging out at Wonderland?

Sometimes, I miss the old days.

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe.
Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion.
I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate.
All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain.
Time to die.

I think I'm the only Chippewa left - was there anyone else anyway that counted? :)
But despite all that I am oldish.
There's some real old crocks around here. Some real Noddys! But espite their wronkles ya gotta love 'em!
In real today I said to an assistant to a guy whose doing work for me "Hurry up, Granma, don't miss the bus!" but I've known her for yonks and I think she loves my "bottle of sauce".
At least that's what she said after I bought her a dozen roses to make up.

(Damn, I never really sat down & considered myself an oldbie before :D)

Looks at your land...

Looks at all the loot in your inventory...

Looks at the balance of lindens you have...

Glances at crusty bug infested retirement home in a backwater sim surrounded by inverse banlines (no getting out)...

"Really grampa, you'll love it here, they do bridge in the afternoons, and you can play shuffleboard, just sign this power of attorney and..."

I always found it odd how people with no evidence of being from 2003 claim that is their actual rez date.

I have a chat log of someone i met at RAC who said she was from 2003, so i asked her why her rez date said 2007, and she replied that her rez-date was reset when they "merged the two grids", and her account went from teen to adult.

And that is not the first story i have been told, or overheard told by people who don't check profiles of those they talk to or around them.

It is an odd thing that people do.

Cool idea but their numbers are wildly inaccurate. Compare them to SLNamewatch and the SL People search.

Hmmm, mine came back strange for not being a true "oldbie", but perhaps getting slightly wizened and wrinkled.

Details for last name Petrichor

I was curious about the whole "heritage or vanity" thing...since I didn't remember doing anything special to get a vanity name (I'd consider it though...), so I ran the names of a few associates with about the same age, and it looks like a generic message for anyone who's name is older than the website there.
