hehe ..... I remember being in a Quake 2 Lithium "Clan" back in the 90s.. Using a Hayes 9600 Baud modem. My ping was like 240ms in Texas... about 475ms elsewhere in the USA. I think our group of fraggers probably coined the term "LAG"

Hmm. That's probably about the time that Phil was working on Real Streaming technology and Broadcast.com

If you remember 5assedmonkey.com, Anarchy - Rail Only, Time to Kill, Creeping Death or Pernet, wow!!!! We're lost brothers and you are probably from Texas ;)

I smile pretty good when someone says "wow you're old" when looking at my SL profile. One can never be too old for SL. Even when I joined in 2004, there was still a FIC. FIC was like the original old school SL. Probably one of these alts created in 2007 with 40k posts can elaborate on that. lol

hugs,
Zach

Im new to SL, but I've been playing on-line games since 1999.....so I dont consider myself a newbie. .. I think of myself as a new citizen !/QUOTE]

Only 1999??

NEWB!!!! :p

Hmph, I've been playing online "games" since, well, SL is my first one and, so far, only one.

Not sure I want to know what that makes me :P

Been in SL not quite 2 years, but I know someone who has been in SL about 4 and 1/2 years. The last time I saw him click an age cube, it said he was 1645 days old.

I came to SL in September 2006, so I think I'm sort of part of it now. I've built my home and quite a lot of of other stuff, done a lot of clubbing, photography, exploration. I got my look sorted out early on and don't plan to change much - I still wear my tatty old non-prim hockey boots most of the time! I just enjoy being here and seeing what new things come along.

Actually I always thought anyone who was a beta tester was an oldbie (from 2002 to early 2003).

That definition has now been reassigned. Beta testers are now referred to as "The Ancient Ones" ;)

How old in second life do you have to be in order to be considered an oldbie. One year, two. three? And what does a name have to do with it. I went to sl name watch. Zinner is closed and is classsified as heritage. I supposed that closed means no one new can choose that last name any more. But I wonder what does heritage mean. Any ideas?

PS. Does this forum have a spell checker?

Im getting so old I need my eyes testing again cause I read your name as Zimmer

Then again, 6/6/06 is also a good dividing line, as that's when the grand population explosion first began.

Y'all are making me feel old! Now quit! :)

Actually I always thought anyone who was a beta tester was an oldbie (from 2002 to early 2003). Sorry Teeny! ;) By the way, I've always loved your name.

By some of your definitions even my alts are oldbies!

/me hands Angel a cane and a Golden Girls box set. ;)

Thanks to everybody who answered. So I guess the best answer is it's all relative. Anyone who joined before I did is old, and anyone who joined later is new. Makes sense to me.

Old means older than M Linden, that's for sure.

Firefox has a built-in spell-checker, and if you absolutely *have* to use IE there are several addins available.

Pep (Not many here seem to worry much about spelling though! :p )
