hey!

well im freelancer game developer. LindenLabs gives me a great game engine incl gameserver exactly what i was lookin for. im on 24/7 cos im a workoholic, i often cannot sleep when im building, scripting, or i go to sleep for 1, 2 hours maybe 2-3 times a day, when im not logged out i can sleep better cos i COULD work whenever i want it, thats the nature of the game you know.

Yeah i know 2 years in the Middle East from 2003 until 2005 taught me about napping could never get a decent nights sleep ;)

in the very first beginning of my SecondLife i steped into a mass camperplace, it was deserted with hundreds of people around, sitting, dancing, i was friendly sayin "hi" but no response, i felt so lonesome in between al the "happy" zombies, it was awful, frustrating.
i would like to have bots to fight as ie quake3 teamarena bots :)

I agree with you on this one, the BOT campers etc, however with a real economy where people can cash out the income for some it just becomes the driving force and an easy way for some to earn cash and these people don't give a rats arse for anyone else they only see the $$$$$$'s and dare i say it but once you could sign up for an account at will the whole dynamics of the platform changed as it was then possible for people to create armies of BOTs just to earn money from camping.

As far as traffic gaming is concerned thats as i said IMHO just crazy and hopefully LL will remove soon the way traffic is counted, its all ages old now and back with the days when we got paid from LL for the amount of people we had on our land then and when thats gone/changed then the BOTs will serve no useful purpose except to do chores that will not tax the system, like group joins, land and prim management etc. and yes i run one to control these features and NO i will never use them to game the traffic because i need real people on my plot not inflated traffic figures as that does not help my RL business (the reason we have the plot here), that is one reason you can nearly always find me or my wife on our plot welcoming and chatting with our visitors and when we are not there we have other people that do the same for us as we are looking for new members for our free myspace style website not high rankings in the SL search :)

Theres a place for BOTs here in SL as you suggest and hopefully the developers will look at ways of adapting them for just this sort of purpose i hope :)

thats my job too and thats why i have closed the server for group only at the time, i cannot work and chat with a lot of visitors.

bots can have usefull jobs yes no problem with.

sometimes i can imagine 30 bots sitting in a small hidden skybox powercamping for traffic :D
with scripted bothunters there would be fun too.

traffic gaming - ok i could game the stats too but in this case i have to realize my "success" is not cos of product_quality its cos of cheating, and this will make a bitter taste for me.

That keeps being held up as an excuse but noone ever can quite name that elusive country where credit cards haven't been invented yet and which make up a significant portion of SL residents.

If someone doesn't have a credit card and doesn't feel SL is worth getting one for then that's not an inability, it's a conscious choice and not something that needs to be cuddled.

You're missing my point. There are countries where credit cards are much harder to get than they are in the US. Here, just about anybody with a pulse can qualify, at least if you're here legally, and you can also buy prepaid credit cards at the drugstore and LL will accept those. (The ones they sell around the corner at Walgreen's sell for about $10 plus the money you put on the card, but they have frequent $10-off sales. There are also monthly fees, but they're irrelevant if you're getting the card for a one-time purchase; you buy your card, put in $20, buy your $20 worth of L$, and then let the card lapse.)

There are users in those countries who don't qualify for credit cards. It's NOT just a matter of "not choosing to get one", it's a matter of "unable to get one". I think it's mostly an issue in Asia; it might also be an issue in Africa, but we don't have a significant number of SL residents there. (US-style credit cards are ubiquitous in Europe, and debit cards are very popular in South America.)

I gather that a further issue in some Asian countries is that even if you can get a credit card, you might not be able to get one that is valid for international transactions. So even if the user can get a card that can be used for purchases at home, it still can't be used to make payments to LL.

In any case, you missed my other point: that I would support login priority for paid users even though there might be some people who can't get that status through no fault of their own.
