From: Colette Meiji Time like these it seems like they limit your ability to log on to when someone else logs off.
So you're in a que ..
Like things slow down and the system sets a number range of allowed logons.
Don't know if thats true, but that is how it feels. Ok, that would make a modicum of sense...as LL "sense" goes...but... I was IN world - a real person with a Premium account - going about my business and...boom...I'm out of world...no notice...just back to desktop. I try to log back in and get the "logins temporarily disabled." But I was IN world dangit!

On the bright side, I'm enjoying a lovely slideshow of the various login screens. That's right. I'm making f$*&ing lemonade here, cuz that's just how I roll.
OK, the force of my mouse clicks are creating a small crater in my desk over time, but that's a small price to pay for the opportunity to enjoy lovely rendered scenery that so nicely enhances my serene outlook.
Guess I'll make more *&^#$* coffee.

Somewhere, I came across a Linden comment that they did an unpublicised trial of blocking logins to non-Premiums. The feedback was not encouraging apparently. There are many non-Premiums who play a very full part in SL. There are Concierge level people in the Private Island part of there grid to whom the only benefit(?) of Premium would be the ability to buy mainland.
I do think that SL should start blocking NPIOF at peak times. They should also start logging out NPIOFs rather than blocking logins for those with payment info.

Status page says logins are closed but the LL program login screen (which I thought was suppossed to tell us when this happens) says everything is OK and status is online. I would think this would warrent a mess on the login screen of the program.

could it be that fast? It says open for me, all the time. By fast I mean: as soon as it has an opening, it automatically says "up and running" and as soon as it has filled the opening, it says "temporarily closed." It's that fast?

From: Lear Cale Ingame:67,335 I think that is fictitious. It has stayed the same for three restartings of the client, which is obviously impossible. Does that mean they are making up the figures now?

I would think this would warrent a mess on the login screen of the program. I have seen the source code and it explicitly checks for you logging in. They're messing with you, hon.

Now it says "Due to Problems with a Central Server"
08-24-2008 14:22
Instead of load being too high.
As far as bots: ----------------
There should be a way to score avatars to identify bots.
For example, if the avatar has:
(1) been logged in for more than 16 hours, and (2) has practically no inventory, and (3) has not typed unique chat or IM text for a long time
Then, its probably a bot and can be force logged out when load is high.
I am sure there are lots of other indicators people can identify... and an avatar that meets enough of them gets the boot first.

From: shadow Pawpaw this absolutly pisses me off.... there is no reason for temporaily disabled logins for PAYING SUBSCRIBERS!!!!!. I have 2 paid accounts that never seem to have a "payment temporarily disabled due to we screwed up" notice attached. that $150 comes out no problem. sooooo disable the non paying subscribers for a while. i dont get reimbursed for time lost.. I think we should be taking the hint and no longer paying. I'm not ready for that yet, though. coco

From: Drongle McMahon So - a good opportunity to squeeze a few dollars out of them if they want login priority. If someone takes the annual option on Premium, the weekly stipend payments come close to paying for the sub. I pay just over 1/2 sim of tier. I don't see that a non-Premium paying for a PI should have any less priority than me for logins. The NPIOFs however should be turfed out and kept out at peak load times. I don't care if they are warm bodies or bots. They are keeping me out of something that I pay a lot for.

From: Drongle McMahon So - a good opportunity to squeeze a few dollars out of them if they want login priority. I repeat...I *am* a Premium account holder...was actually IN world and without warning found myself at the desktop and now can't get back in. So not only does Premium not let me get in any faster...it actually boots me OUT of world. /not a happy camper at the moment...no pun intended and NO I wasn 't camping
