How tall is your avatar?

This whole "women should be stick thin" thing was foisted on women by the fashion industry...beginning with Twiggy in the 60's. Prior to that, classic beauties (think Marilyn Monroe, Rita Hayworth, etc.) were curvacious.

Analog Dog just released a "Salt & Pepper" look for many of her newer styles based on a conversation Que had with some of her regular customers. It was expressed that many women "of a certain age" prefer that look rather than coloring their hair. Some women look really chic with that. I think the cut makes a lot of difference as well.

I have a variety of Avs. In a variety of sizes. I have a normal average looking human about 12" above my RL shape to fit closer to SL norms. I have a sprite down at the bottom of the slider scale, and a petite neko form at about 4'8". The typical Whimsycallie form is one of those tall SL forms but she is meant to be a bit too tall and a bit too thin as a high elven form.

I will agree camera angle makes a difference, I have the same size and shape on in both of these shots:

Mind you, distance also has a lot to do with the difference in these shots: your features and facial expression are easy to 'read' as a potential adolescent in the first example whereas they aren't very readable at all in the second. Your clothing hides your physique and as such it suggests your apparent age could be anywhere between the early teens and mid-twenties.

I'm convinced the 'big space' of SL is definitely at the root of height confusion: many residents attempt to compensate for the natural distance by making themselves extraordinarily large.

My avatar is 7' 2" today. Yesterday I was 5' 11". Tomorrow... I don't know yet.

My height is perfect for whatever I am testing.

For my avatar, the slider for height is set at 5. Most scripted height devices say I'm 5'3". In FL, I'm just about five feet tall.

I'm very much an adult on both sides of the keyboard.

Yes, people use FL to mean First Life (as opposed to Real Life...for Petronilla, SL *is* real).

In RL I am 6'2. . . . way to tall LOL
In SL I am 6'7. . . . feel short compared to most AV's I know.

This is especially embarassing in the light of what you have accomplished below.

I think my av is 6 feet 2 inches... I'm about 6 feet in real life, but also my av's hair is waaaaaaay shinier and twice as long and the wrinkles are just that bit less.

I'm not human in SL, I'm a bear, so this is a factor for my height. At 8'3", I'm taller than can be measured by most "touch me to show your height" things, and tower over most other avatars (well, at least those who have a sense of scale and know how to use a yardstick).

I've noticed you can generally estimate a crowd's average longevity in SL based on avatar heights weighted by species. For humans, this means if you're over 6'5", you're probably too new to know how to accurately adjust height.

At 8'3", I have a hard time fitting my ursine form through some doorways (most notoriously, older subway car doors tend to be 7'0", though most newer ones are a more usable 9'something.
