From: Melita Magic Pertinent to Second Life, I have noticed overly thin shapes do not get much male attention (or at least, male av attention; I only can assume their puppetmasters are also male). Curves are in.
Totally agree. I'm pretty thin on Second Life, and don't get a lot of male attention. I like how well that works. I also don't get in the way if my own camera while building. I like how well that works too. About the only issue is finding clothes that fit well. I find that all pretty funny, because at least the male attention and clothes fitting seem to work completely opposite offline.

From: Melita Magic And "the Shrimp" Jean Shrimpton. But both body types are very much still in style today, despite many terming them "anorexic" at the same time. There are lot of stars out there this thin nowadays. Pretty sad.

From: Viciously Llewellyn Thats flat out an offensive thing to say. Why? I meant that it's sad that they starve themselves to be that thin. If someone is NATURALLY that thin, that's fine. But to have a fashion magazine full of women this thin is to tell our teens that it's okay to starve themselves. *shrug* Didn't mean to offend. [Edit: At 5'6" and 90 lb, Twiggy had a Body Mass Index of 14.5, far below the "Normal" range of 18.5-24.9. Given, Twiggy repeatedly said that she "ate like a horse" and did NOT starve herself, but medically, she was too thin.]

From: Oryx Tempel Didn't mean to offend. I didn't think you did, or I wouldn't have responded at all. I think its way too complicated for blanket statements about who is too thin, or starving themselved, or medically "whatever." A lot of it has to do with breasts ... if you don't have much, you can't carry as much and be attractive. I'm 5'5" and about 105 pounds ... too thin by most standards. I would happily add ten pounds of boobs, which would allow me to add ten pounds of other weight, and be right at my peak fighting weight. I guess that isn't happening any time soon. I never go hungry, as a matter of fact I eat a lot. I also run a lot, and eat very healthy things. Staying off processed foods makes a huge, huge, huge (insert a few billion huges) difference. We shouldn't look at thin models and come to the conclusion that they are telling girls to starve ... when they may be just telling them to work out and eat right, which are both very healthy things. Don't hate on thin ... most prefer sleek or svelt anyway.

The height measuring devices put me between 4'8" and 4'10" in SL. I think I'm closer to 5'0". What's a few inches? Interestingly, I am a fairly unambiguous adult. I think it's because I let my middle aged sensibilities dictate how I dress. In SL I am also African American, something I'm not in real life. http://tacheiru.us/flyingfrogs/courage1.jpg

Don't hate on thin ... most prefer sleek or svelt anyway. I don't hate on thin. Up until I was about 30, I was 5'4" and 98 lbs, and believe me, I ate enormous amounts of food. Then again, I was working horses, cooking in a hot kitchen, and literally just sweating off calories. Nowadays... not so much. There ARE medical issues with being too thin. When a woman loses her period, that's too thin. Her body is literally starving. That is a blanket statement. When a model starves herself to be thin enough to appear in a fashion show, then dies of a heart attack on the catwalk, that's too thin. (Luisel Ramos, 2006 Uruguayan model). I don't hate on thin. I think that there ARE better images to send to our teens than those of the ultra-thin. How about the healthy and fit thin?

From: Chris Norse I don't know, if a woman doesn't have anything to hold on to, it can be a bumpy ride. Girls on top!!! Edited to Add: What I meant by "most prefer sleek or svelt", is that most prefer to be called that as opposed to thin or skinny ... not that most people preferred people that are sleek or svelt. Poorly worded on my part. Everyone knows that what all men want is a giant chested nimpho that owns her own beer company.

From: Oryx Tempel Which do men prefer, just out of curiosity? I hope I'm allowed to vote. the two current models look too high maintenance, to me. Only one I like is Marilyn. As Argent said, Marilyn seems to be the only one enjoying herself.

From: Oryx Tempel (Kate Moss/Marilyn Monroe/Cindy Crawford) Funny thing is Marilyn looks huge next to Kate and Cindy (even Cindy looks big next to Kate, but anyone would ) when in reality, Marilyn was actually rather petite. She is listed as being 5'-5-1/2", 118 pounds - measurements 35-29-35. That is far from chubby, very normal in fact. It's just that our views on the female form have changed drastically since the 1950's as has already been stated in this thread earlier.

I think attraction is all about what looks healthy and confident, and it varies from individual to individual. I know a charming lady who is a grandmother. She is certainly not girlishly thin, but she wouldn't look right that way. Her skin is nearly perfect and her eyes could cause traffic accidents. she kind of has an Ann Jillian thing going on with her body type and hair (not to be confused with Jillian Ann). Frankly I find her a major distraction. I know another lady, also a grandmother, who IS girlishly thin and has longish hair like she walked right out of 1972. She wears me out too. You would truly never guess that either of these ladies are grandmothers. I would guess them both at around 40ish. Of course you can be a grandmother at that age. Anyway, it's not about one body type as much as it's about style and grace and what works best for the individual.

From: Nina Stepford ?? 'african-american countries? i am awestruck. Come on now ... you know what she meant. Mosta da bruthas in da states want they wimmins PACKED! Can't take this thread too serious after the last three pages of comparison pictures. Or perhaps its worth noting that the woman picked by most men, is actually dead ... which proves that thin means nothing ... its all about a women that won't sass back or spend your beer money.
