Would you pay to attend a live performance?

Who is Amy Whitehouse?

I wouldn't pay. It's supply and demand. With so many artists playing for free just because they want to be out there doing it (for better or, sigh, for worse) or for tips, why would I pay to see someone who may not be any more talented than they are?

Now, if you had U2 coming along for a gig, I might reconsider my views. But I wouldn't also tip Bono :D

B.

I totally second the U2 bit, I'd pay to see Bono and the boys any day

ah now I see... I think I will decline, with all gratitude to the good intentions.

I am not an outgoing person, and the thought of DJing fills me with morbid horror... I have done my stint in public performance as a classical guitar player, and never did master the fear ...

The SL music scene could be perfect for you. You could play at home in front of a blank wall, and get paid for it.

I suppose I would pay a cover charge for the venue for a live performance. I have tipped just the performer in the past though but I do also tend to wander around and shop at the nearby stores especially if you can listen to the performance form inside those stores. It helps to have the tip jars in an easy to find location, have just one or two tip jars, and they are clearly marked. I mean I will tip a jar that has the musician's name but I won't tip a jar with just the club owner's name because it wouldn't be obvious.

Or how about a single tip jar that splits the amount tipped between the performer and the club? I think I've seen scripts for that.

I wish it were so simple. Playing (performing) to an invisible audience is just as challenging as performing to a wedding party for an hour, which I have done (as a freebie).
My reasons for being here are perhaps not unique, but money does not figure at all, other than courtesy tips. Re-learning to interact is my challenge, if I can hack it here then RL has a chance.

Edit - I am not refering to musical performance here, more mundane stuff like chatting.

I think this is the best solution I've seen thus far. :)

Well, do get in touch with me...Axe has it as well, so if you see her, ask her for the Hoppy Hud.

Thanks for being persistent. The general dialogue concerning my income seemed to infer it was a musical scheme, which would fit with the name ! I have played with the kit, it is fun, and suits my private lifestyle.
