it is here.
how do you feel about age verification ;)
has anyone tried to verify recently?
what was your experience?

The Age Verification feature (now available in beta) will be included in our release candidate today. This means that estate and parcel owners can now voluntarily flag their land if it contains adult content, and Residents can choose to access these restricted parcels by verifying that they are, in fact, adults. Age Verification is the latest of a number of tools and services to help Residents control and manage their own Second Life experiences.

The link they posted runs into a SSL certificate error since they're registered for secondlife.com and not www.secondlife.com. It's off to a good start :p.

Lol. I have to agree. It'll be at least another year before they implement it. Personally, I'm not confident in giving LL my social security number...(I wonder why.;) )

It's rubbish. I don't mind giving them my passport or ID card number really....BUT they BOTH don't work and they're the only options. I could use my driving licence, but mine HASN'T GOT a number.

Age verification is a good idea, this is a very poor system.

I verified quite early on. I asked the UK Passport office how on earth Integrity Aristotle have got the authority to verify my passport number and the UK passport office told me that they don't have the authority to verify my passport number, that they aren't a partner in any way, shape or form.

They did however say that companies can buy passport checkers that try to check for authority of the document, such as is the number in the right format etc. but as that's a physical check, that's not happening here.

Not that the passport number was an issue anyway, I left that field blank and it happily verified me. So I verified with less information than is required to get payment info used status.

After verifying I received nothing. No email, no letter, nada.

I have no objection to verification but LL have been told plenty of times of the flaws in this system, I expect to see an increase in minors on the grid, who will be verified. It's an easier status to achieve than payment info used and therein lies the biggest flaw of all in this system.

So as a system, this process is hugely flawed in terms of verifying the person going through the process and yet all it needed was a little bit of tweaking, a letter sent to me or a small transaction on my credit card so I have a paper trail.

Does this really matter? Will it make a difference or is it just some smoke screen into making people think something is actually being done on this front?

On their land anyone can say anything they wish. This isn't going to do anything different then what's going on now.

Posting age verification is also not going to do anything either. Again, anyone can document papers of age verification.

Verification

I was able to confirm my age with no problem. Took about 5 seconds using a US DL. As sim owner im a big fan of this the reality is i dont want 12 year old escorts running around my club.

This won't stop it, you'll just have verified 12 year old escorts running around your club.

Nope, not working either....I *could* offer a UK social security number, but I don't get that option with my home address being in Germany.

That won't work, that's the last field they verify. They probably can't verify your name and address details. The system isn't checking the information you put into that field because it can't verify your earlier data.

I'm not sure UK residents are supposed to disclose their National Insurance numbers. The only people allowed to do that are couriers who lose discs.

It's asking for NI numbers now? I doubt very much whether Integrity have official authority to verify that information.

And according to the lovely datamining company I don't exist. I'll take that as a positive thing considering the source :p.

Maybe, but why???? I've been registered at that address my whole life....and I did try all possible variations, with or without stops, umlauts, and anything I could think of.

Well maybe you're not on any of the databases Integrity have access to? They don't have access to all this government info that is implied. Do you have public electoral registers where you live?

It is not designed to stop 12-year-olds from being on the grid, it is to protect land/sim owners from the liability of providing adult content to 12-year-olds.

Has anyone outside the US successfully verified? It will not take my DL or SIN, or blanks for that matter. I'll be damned if I am paying to get a passport, so if they can not make it work in other countries using these, I will not be verifying for any price. LL should really look at scrapping the system or scrapping the fee when the system goes live.

Where can we report Age Verification system failures?

I'm outside the US and verified. Maybe the system is a little busy or something.

I was responding to the person who said they didn't want 12 year old escorts running around their sim. I agree, it's not going to stop 12 year olds from being on the grid.

I live in the UK, chose drivers license, entered the number, all good, verified, done and dusted.

Well played LL, even if it is way overdue.

I think so, yes. And I do have a passport, which not many people in Germany even have because we also have ID cards and you only need passports to travel to certain countries. If it doesn't work for me it probably won't work for other Germans either-I have tried all the different IDs they offer for Germans. i wish they added something more informative than just "verification failed", telling me I probably changed my name or moved recently...

Edit: I finally found the number on my driving licence (stupid old bit of cardboard, that is), but guess what? Not working.
Meh.

Integrity have no authority to confirm your driving licence number with the DVLA.
