Thanks for the transcript, Raymond. After reading it (and most of the rest of this thread, which was quite deppressing), I think the following quotes to sum it up:

LL can hardly say "We do still allow [detailed description]", it would only be more fodder for the gluttonous media. So they only state that every hint at sexual ageplay that meets the public eye is forbidden, but roleplaying a child-like avatar is still allowed as long as a) there's no doubt about the mature RL age of the player and b) there are no sexual references in their name, profile, public roleplay etc. Furthermore, LL don't care what consenting adults do behind locked doors in the privacy of their homes.
That's at least how I read it.

Yeah - a little background on this thread

There was a rather yellow-journalist News report on Fox news intended to put some heat on John Edwards and his Second Life campaign Headquarters.

When the report was taken Ageplay was an Unregulated activity. The Reporter went to a club called "Jail Bait", which seemed to be basically a Strip Club/Brothel featuring little girls.

The Reporter also went to a Rape Brothel.

The Reporter claimed Edwards needed to have a policy on all this stuff.

Shortly after - on the hush - Sexual Age Place Venues got a copy of that notecard. People originally thought it was a Hoax.

They asked the Lindens to make a Blog entry - but that was refused. There was a march on Robin's Home demanding answers.

The end result was the Policy was as you decribed it on the previous Post I quoted. It was not allowed except in total discretion behind locked, closed doors. All advertizing of Sexual Age Play was banned. All Sexual Age Play groups had named / covenants changed to reflect this ban. It was not allowed to assert an under 18 age on profiles.

Basically they swept it under the rug and wanted it to stay quietly VERY underground.

This was the policy in Place from Mid March up until this German "Expose" happened.

The results of which, its Fairly Clear that all Virtual Sexual content involving an Avatar that appears to be a minor is banned.

It could have been worded better though - which might be why Heretic necrobumped this.

Of course he/she might also just have been responding to Threads with the word "Lindens" in them.

Colette gives a very good summary of all that has happened here, but does not explain the title of this thread. The title is "Lindens define ageplay!" and that is because they misused the word ageplay to refer to activies that may look like peadophilia to the people who look at it.

Until now ageplay used to be something adults do in RL when they pretended to be a different age then they really are. Like a 33 year old woman who loves to wear lolita dresses, wants Nijntje wallpaper in her bedroom and walks around the house with a doll or a teddy bear in her arms. Nothing wrong with that and not even remotely connected to peadophilia.

Linden has made this word contaminated forever

Actually the Lindens dont use that term - they generally use "Minors" when refering to RL minors and ALSO use it for Avatar children (virtual minors) -

Which is the confusing part.

Its the Forums debates and Residents and the Media at fault for using the word Ageplay, I believe.
