From Wikipedia : "Takuan (沢庵) is a popular and traditional pickle in Japan. It is made from daikon radish"

Takuan (the food) is also called "samurai pickle".

Takuan Soho was a zen priest whose writings I very much enjoy. He was well known as abbot of the Daitoku-ji Temple in Kyoto and teacher/advisor to many famous Japanese swordsmen including Yagyū Munenori.

When I saw that Daikon was available as a last name, I just *had* to name my character "Pickled Radish Radish". I still chuckle over that from time to time.

Well mine is sort of strange how i found it now that i look back at where i found it and who it originally belonged to..

when i was younger i was cleaning the living room and picking up all the videos and cd's and putting things back into the entertainment center..on one of the videos was the name Seka..
it was in a blank fuji case with a written on lable..so i put it with the recorded videos..
when i started to play online games the name came back to me because i kept getting rejected for the names i would pick for my WoW avatar..i chose Ceka because i did not want to copy the exact name ..then someone came up to me one day asking why i would use a porn stars name in WoW lol

i jumped out of wow and did a search and found out Seka is actually a porn star from the 80's.I figured it was my older sisters and her boyfriends video and they left it in the pile of other videos not knowing they pulled it from the shelf..i used it here because i was used to the name and really did like it and there were no other Ceka's in sl at the time..Cianci just seemed to have a nice ring with it..

Kronos (also called: Cronos}- Ancient Greek Κρόνος, Krónos.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
After dispatching Uranus, Kronus re-imprisoned the Hecatonchires, the Gigantes, and the Cyclopes and set the dragon Campe to guard them. He and Rhea took the throne of the world as king and queen. This period of Kronus' rule was called the Golden Age, as the people of the time had no need for laws or rules; everyone did the right thing, and immorality was absent.

In an alternate version of this myth, a more benevolent Kronus overthrew the wicked serpentine Titan Ophion. In doing so, he released the world from bondage and for a time ruled it justly.

I don't send much email as Quaintly but the times I have, I've had to stop myself from signing my RL name! Guess I'm not totally "immersed" yet :p

From: Madhu Maruti

My brother encouraged me to pick something with an Indian sound, because I love Indian movies. So I chose Madhu for my first name; it's a common Indian name (sometimes used for women and sometimes for men, varying regionally) meaning "honey" and is also short for the names of two of my favorite Indian movie stars, Madhubala and Madhuri Dixit.

I always thought Madhu was related to your blue color, lol... Mad Hue, crazy color...

My name (I'm a second incarnation, so it got lots of thought) was chosen because of my love of singing...

Allegria in Italian means playfulness or fun, canto in Italian is song or singing...

So, Playful Song...

A bonus is that Alegria (sorry don't know how to put the correct accent) translates to joy or happiness in Spanish..

lovely story! im curious, what did you win in the lucky chair!!!!!

I didn't go back. Even before I finished creating this identity my temper abated and my head cleared. Thus the foolishness of my original motivatin became apparent. The real prize and the real luck is identified at the end of my post #85.

... but thanks for asking. :)

I looked at the last names available at the time.

Trebuchet sounded interesting.

LOL!
From the Wikipdia page:
"A trebuchet (pronounced /ˌtrɛbjəˈʃɛt/)[1] (sometimes spelled trebucket and pronounced ˌtrɛbəˈkɛt)"

Bucket??

ZOMG! I'm Mrs. Bucket!!!!
Keeping up appearances!

It's prounounced "Bouquet". Very Continental, you know.

Annabelle - from Poe

Babii - the least of all evils at the time I signed up.

Alyx. Short for Alexandra, my RL name. Means "defender of men" OR "the one who defends FROM men". Take your pick. :D
Sands is actually another nickname of mine, from Sandy.

Rhian? Oh, just a Welsh name I liked, it's an RP character of mine, and when Jenkins became available, I just HAD to get this alt (I recently got another RP character of mine as an alt when the appropriate last name became available).

My favourite name on SL has to be Wasson Television. I've never met him personally, but I see the name crop up from time to time and it always makes me chuckle.

Parvati: A Hindu goddess, wife of Shiva and mother of Ganesh. Seen by Hindus as the perfect expression of femininity. Parvati is one of India's seven sacred rivers. Also, the Parvati Valley in Himachal Pradesh is the source of the world's finest hashish :-)

Luna: Another feminine archetype, the moon.

What can I say, I'm a girly girl and proud of it =P

Ann is my middle name and Launay sounds a bit like 'loony,' although I wish Lunasea had been on the list when I started.

I'm easily amused.

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.
